The lights of the stage flickered dangerously as I scrambled to keep everything in place. My heart pounded in my chest, the weight of the moment threatening to swallow me whole. I’d talked a big game, but now… now I was regretting it.
And then, just as I thought I couldn’t take another second of the chaos, I heard the unmistakable sound of someone’s voice.
”Over there! Rin! Go!”
”Understood!”
Rin? Was it… Number 2? Kazami Rin, the kunoichi, silent and swift as a shadow, appeared from behind the man. With a flash of her hand, she rendered the opponent unconscious in the blink of an eye.
I let out a shaky breath. That was close… too close…
I barely registered the slow-motion fall of a screw—my eyes locked on it as it tumbled toward the ground. It landed with a soft plop right in front of Shirogane Aqua, the last person I’d expected to see so close. Panic surged through me as I fought to stabilize the spotlight, the moment almost slipping from my grasp.
I didn’t have time to think. I had to act.
”Ah…”
It all happened in a blur. The screw, the fall, the spinning lights—everything felt surreal. I steadied the equipment, pulling myself out of the spotlight. I could feel the weight of all eyes on me, but I had no time to savor the attention.
Kazami Rin had done her job. Now, it was my turn to disappear before anyone noticed me lingering.
”Good job,” came the voice from behind. Ethan, always a step ahead, must have seen everything unfold. “I heard about the situation from Ken. Can’t believe something like that was going on out of sight of the main event.”
”Yeah,” I replied, rubbing my forehead, trying to clear the rush of adrenaline. “Glad we stopped it when we did. Ken’s been a huge help.”
With the job done, Ethan and I tossed the culprit into the back of the recovery van and made our way back to the IAF headquarters. Reports were filed, the usual paperwork, and then… I was free to go.
I left the office earlier than usual that evening, the lingering thoughts of the day’s events drifting in and out of my mind. The city was quieter than normal as I made my way home.
As I opened the door, I saw her—Leti, my second daughter—coming back from the cultural festival. Her eyes sparkled, her energy infectious as she rushed to tell me about the day’s events.
”Papa! You should’ve seen the play by the drama club! It was amazing!”
I smiled, watching her excitedly recount every detail of the performance. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and for a moment, all the stress of the day seemed to fade away.
I couldn’t help but feel a quiet sense of gratitude, looking at my daughter through soft eyes. Shirogane Aqua, you may never know it, but you didn’t just make Oto Rurika smile. You made my daughter smile too, and that… that was enough.
”Geez, Papa, are you even listening?”
Leti puffed out her cheeks, trying to look as dramatic as possible. She was good at this.
I turned toward her, giving a lazy grin.
”Yeah, I’m listening. The live Shirogane Aqua show was cool, right?”
”Yeah! Sure, Aqua-sama was great, but you know what? Papa is cooler than Aqua in the play!”
I swear, those words almost broke me. I could feel my throat tighten. No, wait… I definitely teared up. Damn it, why does she have to be so sweet?
”Pa, Papa, what’s wrong?”
Leti’s voice shifted from playful to concerned as she frowned at me.
”Nah, it’s just… something got in my eye…” I lied, hoping they wouldn’t see right through me.
”Papa, are you okay?”
Her voice had that edge of worry that only a child could carry.
”Should I bring you some eye drops?”
The girls crowded around me, each looking like they wanted to fix whatever was wrong.
I sighed, feeling the weight of my fatherly love for them. They were so good, so thoughtful. I didn’t know how to tell them just how much they meant to me.
In that moment, I realized just how much I wanted to protect them from the world.
But as I looked at their eager faces, the thought crossed my mind: if anyone ever came to ask for their hands, I’d be so careful. I couldn’t just let them marry anyone without knowing they were good enough.
But if it were someone like Shirogane Aqua—someone gentle, yet strong, with a good heart—I’d trust him with them.
Hey, those breasts of my daughters are bigger than any ones you’ve seen today.
He’ll definitely like them at first sight!! I fully indulged in my proud dad thoughts in my heart.
By the way, the IAF is also known within the organization as the Impotent Aqua Female Unit.
That is, it’s a unit where no one but Aqua-sama can ej***late….
Notes:
• Ethan – Male. Captain of the Impossible Aqua Force (IAF). Appears as a beautiful woman in a lavish dress but has an Adam’s apple, indicating he is likely a man in disguise. Silent and professional, with a focus on supporting Aqua-sama’s mission. His relationship with Bernard is that of a superior and new recruit.
• Ken – Male. A rehabilitated man working in the mine. The fiancé of Akiyama Sachiko, the organizer of the party or one of the protagonist’s (Aqua’s) mother’s students (ikebana) appeared in Volume 2 Chapter 12. However, their engagement is not yet officially recognized, as the necessary documents have not been signed by all parties involved. Ken-kun behaves inappropriately during the event, attempting to flirt with Kanon and later becoming aggressive, even wielding a replica sword. His actions cause a disturbance, and he is eventually subdued and removed by the security team.
