Volume 4 Chapter 74 The End Of The Nightmare And The Land Of Freedom
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After finishing the interrogation, we made our way toward the pirates’ hideout.
We left the commander behind—he’d drift off into sleep again as long as we didn’t provoke him.
The hideout lay deep within a natural rock formation, built into a fortress that blended seamlessly with the terrain. Its entrance was hidden along the coastline, and inside, a maze of stone hallways stretched farther than expected.
We moved in silence.
Sailors were passed out along the way, unconscious. Ahead, a barricade blocked our path—likely where the pirates had holed up.
When we climbed over it, we found the pirates inside, also collapsed and unresponsive.
”This way,” Rozmiaque said, leading us forward. He had detected what appeared to be the location of the hostages.
Carefully stepping between the fallen bodies, we pushed on through the stone corridors. Eventually, we reached a wide chamber. At the far end stood sturdy-looking iron bars—and behind them, silhouettes.
Inside one cell was a young boy, bruises covering his face, his clothing torn, his entire body marked with wounds.
In the next cell, four young women lay sleeping. Their appearance was enough to make anyone avert their eyes.
Their clothes had been stripped, and their bodies bore the signs of mistreatment—bruises, filth, and… other stains that spoke volumes of the cruelty they’d endured.
I didn’t want to imagine what had happened.
”…This is horrible,” Korukona whispered. The others wore grim expressions.
There they were—the councilman’s son, considered a key piece in negotiations, and the “usable” women the pirates had captured.
As for the ones deemed “useless”… I didn’t want to think about it.
We transported the unconscious hostages to the Love Hotel.
I had prepared private rooms for them in advance. I’d considered separating them by gender, but the boy was still young—barely even into puberty.
I figured the women, even after all they’d suffered, might feel less threatened this way.
We gently laid them on the beds.
This place was clean, safe—somewhere they could finally rest.
Everyone had been rescued. We had no more reason to remain here.
We returned to the Love Hotel’s interior and quietly shut the door behind us.
The song of the Siren’s Harp ceased.
The magic that had enforced sleep over the hideout dissolved with it.
Soon, the marines and pirates would awaken—only to find the hostages gone.
The councilman’s son, who they planned to use as a bargaining chip, and the others they had likely intended to silence… all missing.
What would happen to them now?
The pirates, having lost their leverage, would be pushed into a corner. The navy wouldn’t know what to report to their superiors.
And the commander—how much did he remember from the interrogation? What would he confess?
It was going to be chaos. No doubt about it.
Not that it mattered to us anymore.
What happened to them now was their problem.
Soon, the hostages would wake up… and they’d see the Love Hotel.
’Love Hotel’ was a skill I never wanted others to know about.
It was my trump card.
If anyone found out, they’d either try to use it—or worse, figure out how to counter it.
I could only share it with companions I trusted.
But this time, I couldn’t afford to be picky.
I couldn’t walk away after seeing the women in that state. It hurt just thinking about leaving them without even a chance to clean themselves.
The boy was just a kid—I couldn’t treat him harshly, not after everything.
In the end, I decided it was fine… as long as they didn’t realize the place was born from my ability.
We avoided showing our faces and moved to another room, leaving their care to the fairies.
Opening the system menu, I checked their vitals through the monitoring screen I’d set up.
The little fairies bustled about, wiping their bodies and administering potions.
As their wounds healed, the women slowly began to wake up.
The fairies calmed their confusion and guided them gently toward the bath.
Voices echoed from the steamy room—dazed, uncertain.
Then came the meal.
Room service delivered the finest dishes.
The women, still groggy, followed the fairies from the bath to the table and began to eat.
”…It’s delicious…”
Their eyes widened in disbelief as the taste reached them.
”I didn’t know something this good existed… Are we… in heaven?”
”…Did we die?”
”…Mom…”
One began to cry, and soon, the others joined her in tears.
The Love Hotel had everything—food, clothing, shelter.
It was too perfect, too clean, too unreal.
Maybe that’s why it unsettled them.
They needed an explanation.
But the fairies couldn’t speak. All they could do was offer quiet comfort to the sobbing women.
”Rozmiaque,” I said.
”Understood,” he replied.
He was the best among us at choosing his words.
Tea would’ve worked too, but… she couldn’t lie. It showed in her voice.
A fairy held up a card key in the women’s room. Rozmiaque’s voice carried through the intercom linked to it.
As the card glowed, the women looked up.
”Listen, boys and girls,” his calm voice echoed gently.
”You have been saved by the mercy of the Lord. He is kind, and never turns away from those in need. His hand pulled you from the darkness and brought you here—to this place of peace.”
Rozmiaque’s voice was soothing, his tone steady.
”This sanctuary exists to heal the wounds carved into your bodies and hearts. Here, there is no pain, no hunger, no fear. Only warm water, soft beds, and nourishment for your soul.”
Notes:
• Rozmiaque – High-ranking elf investigating large-scale Spirit Magic usage. Condescending, believes a High Elf is involved. Uses 6-letter Spirit Magic to trap targets. Displays contempt for half-elves and humans. Aggressive interrogator, possibly capable of sensing hidden information.
• Korukona – A cat-eared girl with amber eyes. She is brave but vulnerable, showing honesty and gratitude. Taro rescues her from the pirate and plans to send her to her village.
