Chapter 164 Startup Capital

The period of residency in a remote area ended without incident…
The clinical training completion certificate was issued safely,
and Haruto officially became a doctor.
”What? I can’t get a loan?”
”If you’re planning to open a clinic, Ichijou-sama, then financing is possible. However…”
In his previous life, Haruto had never once qualified for a bank loan. The most he could manage back then was borrowing from consumer lenders. That’s why he had assumed that just being a doctor now would be enough to qualify him for a loan from a proper bank.
But reality wasn’t so kind.
He was told that if he opened a clinic, a loan of up to 200 million yen might be possible.
However, if he was starting a massage parlor, no bank would even consider lending money to someone unemployed like him.
In other words, opening a medical clinic had a clear repayment structure—banks could see that.
But a massage parlor? To them, it was a gamble with no financial outlook.
”If your parents can act as guarantors, then financing may be approved,” the staff said.
”…I see. I’ll talk to them.”
With that, Haruto left the bank and walked out into the summer sun.
His father, Shouma, was a university professor.
His mother, Harue, had been working in the beauty industry for years.
If they both agreed to be his guarantors, getting a loan wouldn’t be impossible.
But… if possible, he wanted to do this on his own.
He didn’t want to rely on them.
(Maybe I should work as a doctor somewhere first and save up…)
As he returned home, lost in thought, Harue casually spoke up the moment he stepped through the door.
”You didn’t get the loan, did you?”
”Huh? How did you know?”
”Well, renting a place is one thing… but trying to build your own store from scratch? That’s just not realistic.”
”I mean, yeah, but… you could’ve warned me ahead of time.”
”Haru-kun, you won’t learn everything just from school. Sometimes you have to stumble and figure things out yourself.”
”…That’s true. I guess it was a good lesson.”
”In that case… here. Take this.”
Harue placed a bankbook on the table in front of him.
”There’s thirty million yen in this account.”
”What?! No way! I can’t take that. I don’t want to cause trouble for you and Dad!”
”What are you saying? Half of the store you’re planning is mine too.”
”That’s true, but…”
Haruto had been planning to build a shop that combined his massage parlor with his mother’s beauty salon.
”It’s money I’ve been saving up little by little since the day you were born,” she said softly.
Back when Haruto was born, Harue and Shouma had talked about putting money aside for their son’s future.
All of Harue’s earnings from her work in esthetics over the years had gone into that account.
”Mom… thank you.”
”Make sure to thank your father when he comes home, alright?”
”Yeah. Of course. I’ll let him know properly.”
In his past life, Haruto had never once been helped financially by his parents.
If anything, he’d suffered under his mother’s debts. Money had always meant struggle.
Because of that, he had sworn not to be a burden this time.
He didn’t want to cause trouble for Shouma or Harue.
But now, hearing his mother’s quiet determination, he couldn’t just turn away from their support.
Their kindness was real. He could feel it.
That night, when Shouma returned home, Haruto thanked them both.
Thanks to the support of his parents, construction on the shop finally began.
