Volume 1 Chapter 7 Division Of Fate 2️⃣

 ”Ah… ah… ah…”

Lena’s body trembled softly, a quiet release escaping her as waves of unfamiliar sensation washed over her. For the first time, she experienced something overwhelming, something that left her trembling.

Her muscles twitched involuntarily like a fish caught on a hook, then suddenly, exhausted, she collapsed onto the bed. The faint traces of what had just passed flowed gently before finally stopping.

She lay back, legs spread slightly, unable to move, breathing heavily with shallow breaths.

Her face was blank, eyes unfocused, tongue slightly out, a trace of drool at the corner of her mouth. Her expression spoke volumes about the intensity of what she had just endured.

Seeing her like that, I felt a surge of emotion well up inside me, an instinct I struggled to hide.

”She wasn’t like this before… maybe she’s changing.”

I looked away, giving her space to recover.

 ”Can you move now?”

I asked gently after her breathing had steadied.

”Y-yes… I think so…” Lena replied slowly, her voice distant and uncertain. She sat up with effort, still trying to process everything her body and mind had just gone through.

”I’m sorry. Maybe it was too much for you.”

I had known this magic was powerful, but I hadn’t expected it to affect her so deeply. Perhaps I had been careless, especially with someone so young.

 ”W-what was that… huh…?”

Suddenly, realization dawned on her, and panic flickered in her eyes. She quickly shifted off the bed, kneeling on the floor, gripping the ground as if seeking support.

”I’m sorry… I didn’t mean for this to happen! Please forgive me!”

”No, it’s not your fault, Master. I should have been more careful.”

We exchanged apologies awkwardly before the tension slowly eased.

 ”Lena, look at your body.”

I moved closer to her, who was still dazed, and urged her gently.

 ”Y-yeah… okay…” she murmured.

She looked down, silent, then began to lightly touch herself — shoulders, chest, waist — as if confirming something new.

 ”No way… it’s gone…”

She whispered, disbelief in her voice.

”That’s the power of my magic, ‘life sharing.’ Unlike holy magic, it has its drawbacks and is difficult to use, but it can do things others cannot. Holy magic heals wounds but cannot erase old scars like this.”

 She listened quietly.

”But as I said, this magic has limits. There are side effects for the receiver, like you just experienced. I also feel drained after using it, so let’s stop for today. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure your scars disappear completely — though it might take time.”

Lena stayed silent, then tears started falling from her right eye.

 ”Ugh… ugh… waah… waaaaah!”

She hugged herself and sobbed loudly. But this was no sad cry — it was a joyous release, like finding something precious again.

After she calmed down, Lena knelt deeply before me.

”Th-thank you… truly, thank you. For doing such incredible magic for someone like me… I don’t know how to repay you.”

Overcome with emotion, she bowed deeply.

”You don’t have to think about that. I’m not doing this for anything in return. Now, lift your head.”

I smiled gently as she remained bowed.

”Also, Lena, don’t get too happy yet. I haven’t healed your arms, legs, or your face. Honestly, I don’t know if your vision can be restored.”

I sighed. I’ve used this magic many times, but never on crushed eyes. I might restore their shape, but the sight itself… that’s uncertain.

”That’s fine. I’ve been told I’m ugly so many times I believed it myself. But you’re healing me. Whether I see again doesn’t matter.”

Lena raised her head, smiling brightly — a new person compared to moments ago. Though tears remained, her smile was full of hope and sincere gratitude.

Looking at her, she was truly beautiful — scars and all. At least to me.

Suddenly, I recalled what had just happened between us. My body reacted again, uncontrollably.

And worse, that feeling was obvious before her eyes.

Lena lowered her gaze, noticing something about me. She looked at it silently, without words.

 ”Well… this is… a side effect.”

 ”Is that so?”

”Yes. ‘Life sharing’ uses my blood to transfer life energy and heal, but for some reason, it affects me in strange ways.”

I don’t fully understand the magic. The witch who gave it to me — or cursed me — is gone. Even my master who trained me didn’t grasp it fully.

He once said, “Perhaps the body senses a crisis and triggers instincts to survive.” But it’s only a guess.

Right now, I stood completely exposed before Lena, who was kneeling quietly. The sensation was overwhelming.

”I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I’ll step outside for a moment.”

I tried to rise, planning to handle it quickly.

 ”Wait!”

Lena’s voice was firmer than ever before.

She reached out gently and took hold of me.

 ”Whoa!?”

The sudden feeling made me catch my breath.

 ”Master, you seem uncomfortable.”

Her hands were gentle, as if holding something precious.

”Yeah, it’s painful. Please let me go so I can step outside.”

I spoke politely, but Lena shook her head slowly.

”I want to calm you down… please let me help.”

She looked up at me with wet eyes.

”Wait, Lena. I told you before, I’m not here to use you.”

 I spoke firmly.

Yes, I didn’t want to treat her like those cruel men — bandits or the corrupt village head.

”Please, Lena, don’t make me like them.”

 My voice was almost desperate.

But she shook her head stubbornly, surprisingly strong-willed.

”It’s not the same. You’ve never asked me to do anything bad, and you’ve been kind.”

 ”But…”

”I’m not doing this because you told me to. I’m not being used. I want to serve you, my master… and”

 ”And?”

Her passionate gaze faltered for a moment, then she smiled quietly.

”What makes me different… is just this.”
