Chapter 185 An Unpopular Villa Area

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Yuna, come on, hurry up and get in,” Sasahira called out, already halfway into the taxi.

”Ugh… such a pain…” Yuna muttered, reluctantly sliding in beside him.

The day after she had received that mysterious treatment from Haruto, the two of them boarded the taxi they’d called to the hotel. Now, they were headed toward the place they’d promised to visit.

”Alright, let me just input the address…” Sasahira said as he tapped at the screen. “And done. We’re on our way.”

The first type of vehicle they had used required a driver, but the commercial second type was fully autonomous. Once the destination was entered and the confirmation button pressed, it would carry them there automatically.

”No traffic out here, huh? It’s way different from Tokyo,” Sasahira said, gazing out the window.

”Yeah… When I get rich, maybe I’ll build a villa,” Yuna replied with a grin.

”Hehe, oh? What’s that about?” Sasahira teased. “Sounds like you’re doing it for a certain someone.”

”W-wrong!” she blurted out, flustered. “It’s not like that! I just think… if he were my personal doctor, I’d feel really reassured, that’s all!”

”That’s fair, I guess,” she said with a chuckle. “But if that’s the case, wouldn’t it be better to just build it in Tokyo and have him live there?”

”Ugh… y-you’re right. I totally messed that up.”

Yuna’s feelings weren’t quite as simple as love or infatuation. To put it plainly, he was just… someone she liked.

From her perspective, a guy who treated her like a normal person, even after knowing everything about her, was rare—and incredibly comforting. On top of that, he was the only one who had been able to treat her condition, something even the famous doctor couldn’t do. It wasn’t surprising she wanted him nearby.

”By the way,” Sasahira said, breaking the silence, “when the president found out that your foot had gotten that treatment, didn’t he act kind of strange?”

”Did he?” Yuna tilted her head. “He’s always weird, so I didn’t really notice.”

”Hey! I know you don’t like him, but I told you to at least call him President, didn’t I?”

”It’s just the two of us right now, so who cares?”

”You say that, but the more you speak like that, the more it becomes a habit,” she warned. “You will slip up one day in front of the wrong person, you know?”

”…Fine, fine. I got it,” she replied with a sigh.

As they chatted back and forth, the taxi carried them steadily into more remote countryside. A subtle sense of unease began to settle between them.

”Hey, Sasacchi… is this really the right way?” Yuna asked, glancing at the thickening trees outside.

”Y-yeah… the navigation says it’s correct…” Sasahira replied, though his voice wavered slightly.

”It’s heading toward the mountains though…”

”Well… I mean, it’s probably because it’s a shooting location?” she offered. “They tend to be away from people, right?”

”Huh? I thought it was just the production company’s office?”

”Really? …I figured they shot stuff at the same place.”

”C’mon, Manager! Get it together!” Yuna said, frowning.

”Don’t blame me!” she shot back. “I’ve never handled AV-related work before!”

Normally, production offices were based in busy city areas, while the actual filming was done farther out…

That was because, well—if they filmed in town, certain noises might be heard. Major studios with money often purchased abandoned schools or old pools, choosing filming locations depending on the scene.

So, the place they were heading to was neither a filming location… nor the production company office.

”Look, there’s a building up ahead,” Yuna said, pointing. “Looks like a pension?”

”Ah, and there’s a sign for a ski resort too,” Sasahira added, leaning forward.

”Is this a vacation home area? Doesn’t look like anyone’s here, though…”

”Yeah… it does look like a holiday spot,” she agreed. “But would an office really be out here?”

Eventually, the taxi came to a slow stop.

In front of them stood a beautiful, well-maintained house. Several cars were parked nearby.

”This must be the place,” Yuna said, eyeing the entrance.

”There are cars, so… probably people too,” Sasahira murmured.

”Let’s just go inside, decline politely, and leave right away.”

The two stepped out of the car. But the moment they closed the door, the taxi quietly turned and began rolling away, heading back the way it came.

 They hadn’t noticed yet—

that they no longer had a ride back.
