Volume 2 Chapter 1 Lena’s Memoir 1️⃣

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”I found it! A monster!”

Even though I was doing my best to stay hidden, the young lady still spotted me.

 ”Ugly monster! Eat this!”

 ”Go die already!”

Her two so-called friends joined in, hurling stones at the bush where I crouched. I didn’t want to get hit, so I tried to run.

 But—

”Hey! Monsters don’t walk on two legs! Crawl like you’re supposed to! That’s an order!”

The young lady barked her command with a twisted smile.

To me, her face looked warped and cruel—but mine must have seemed even worse. Hideous scars carved across my skin, and one of my eyes was missing. Of course I’d be treated like something beneath them.

I dropped to all fours like I was told, trying to crawl away. But I couldn’t move fast like that. The stones kept hitting me—sharp stings, dull aches—and before long, I was crying from my one remaining eye.

Curled up in pain, I could hear their laughter growing louder.

”Let’s finish it already,” the young lady said, gripping a wooden sword.

Her two friends followed behind her, each holding their own weapon.

And like that, the three of them beat me.

That was the end of today’s “hunting game.”

The ache in my body was unbearable, but more than anything, I felt relieved. At least it was over. They were satisfied. Soon, we’d head back to the mansion, and the mistress would scold me again with, “Where have you been wasting time?”

The three girls grinned, wooden swords in hand. I curled up again, shielding my head with both arms.

 ”Here comes the final blow!”

Just as the young lady raised her voice—right as they were about to close in—

”Don’t make a sound… If you scream, I’ll kill you.”

A stranger’s voice cut through the air. I froze. And then I saw them.

Unknown adults. Surrounding us. One of them had a blade at the young lady’s throat.

She and her friends turned pale. Their bodies shook. Tears welled in their eyes.

 I knew this scene.

 Slave hunters.

They must’ve come to our village looking for children to take.

As I expected, they stuffed the girls one by one into large sacks. I wondered—would they take me, too? Or maybe they’d just kill me here, since no one would buy someone like me.

If so, that would be fine.

It’s not like I had anything left to cling to.

Ever since the day my body was covered in scars, I stopped feeling alive. I only kept breathing because I lacked the courage to stop.

If they were going to end it for me, then I’d accept it.

But they took me, too. Forced into a bag, just like the others.

I don’t remember much after that. Probably thrown into a cart. Everything was dark.

Who knows how much time passed.

When I was finally pulled from the bag, the night sky was pitch black. A fire crackled nearby—maybe they were setting up camp.

In the firelight, the four of us stood, cold and exposed. The men examined us like goods on display.

One of them chuckled while looking at my skin. “Huh, are you from the south or something? This one’s all scratched up.”

He was probably the leader of the group. As soon as he got a good look at my body, he scowled.

 ”Disgusting. Already ruined.”

He kicked me hard. I didn’t cry because I was used to it.

The other girls trembled beside me, holding themselves, trying to hide their shame. But in the world of slaves, dignity was something easily stripped away.

”I wanna try one before we sell them,” one man muttered, licking his lips.

”Idiot,” the leader snapped. “Touch them now and we’ll lose profit. You know that.”

Yes, children like us were only valuable if we were “untouched.”

I’d worked in a slave shed before. Even with my body ruined, I was still labeled a girl. But no one ever touched me. My scars repulsed them.

Still, this group seemed careless. Another man laughed, “One taste won’t hurt, right?”

Even the leader’s eyes lingered on the girls.

”They’re our first real catch,” he said slowly. “If you think you can handle it… go ahead.”

 The girls screamed. “Hiii!?”

I doubted they’d pick someone like me. No one ever did.

But if they did… I wouldn’t mind. My body didn’t matter anymore.

* * *

”Oh, that one talks dirty all the time.”

 ”She’s broken already, huh?”

 ”Can we even sell her?”

Their jeers were sharp, mocking. Still, it was almost funny how hard they tried to find reasons not to sell me.

The leader came closer, listening to their words. He grabbed my hair, yanking me to my feet.

I kept my head down. I didn’t care if they saw my body, but I didn’t want them to see my face.

 ”Hey. Can you serve?”

 His voice was low, direct.

”Yes,” I replied quietly. “I was trained to.”

I didn’t want to be hurt. So I answered honestly.

 ”Then show me.”

 He moved closer.

 The girls shrieked. “Kyaa!?”

”Watch and learn,” he laughed cruelly. “You’ll need this soon!”

 I didn’t resist.

I knelt in front of him, just like I was taught, ignoring the sour smell and heavy pressure. I kept going, knowing what would happen if I stopped.

Tears rolled down my cheeks, but I didn’t wipe them. I just waited for it to end.

The leader moaned in satisfaction. “Not bad.”

He grabbed my head, forcing me to keep going.

 ”Use your tongue. Like that.”

I obeyed, mechanically, with no thought or feeling.

When it was over, I swallowed everything like always.

I didn’t want to imagine what would happen if I didn’t.

”Make sure it’s clean,” he muttered.

I followed his command, then sat back, dazed, barely breathing.

But I knew this wasn’t the end.

 Of course it wasn’t.

”Heh heh heh, my turn next~”

From the corner of my eye, I saw the others stepping forward.

I didn’t know how many times it would happen tonight.

All I could think about, in my blurry, half-conscious mind, was how long I had to endure until they got bored of me.
