These were the ranked members of my Liberation Army. The McGaref Autonomous Government army had only Kanare-san, which wasn’t surprising. My force, barely over twelve hundred strong, boasted eight ranked members—an excessive display of military might by any standard.
”Say, Sayo’s Ice Magic is impressive. I’ll train her more,” Neige remarked.
”Really? Thank you, Neige-san. I want to become stronger—someone useful to my older brother ♡,” Sayo said brightly.
On our journey, Kano Sayo-chan trained under Neige-san, an Ice Magic specialist ranked 872nd. Neige, vice-captain of Dalcur-san’s mercenary group, had recruited Scaya-san during the conference. Following Dalcur-san’s advice that Neige’s calm demeanor suited leadership, she commanded the magic troops and oversaw the deployment of defensive ritual magic equipment. She was already assessing Sayo-chan and Shion-chan’s magical abilities.
”Kotaro, your Strong Sword skill can’t rely on brute force alone. You need to sense where the power flows. That’s the key,” Dalcur instructed.
”Yes, thank you, Dalcur-san. I’ll become strong like Ginga and protect Sayo,” Kotaro replied respectfully.
Nearby, Kotaro Kano-kun trained under Dalcur-san’s watchful eye. Weed-san had noted Kotaro’s potential earlier, and Dalcur seemed the perfect mentor.
Our army advanced under the guise of liberating the Celon Dukedom. We traveled in a mule cart caravan, hiring as many mules as possible in McGaref to expedite our movement. Thanks to the Magic Bag—a fictional item simplifying large-item transport—logistics were minimal. The only essential cargo was ritual magic equipment, guarded by Weed-san and Ginga-kun aboard the cart.
As we traveled, Scaya-san offered to assist me with a task. “Please let me show my devotion to Takumi-sama,” she said. I appreciated her gesture, and the others in the carriage politely looked away.
”It feels good, Scaya,” I murmured.
Her focused attention and dedication were evident, and the atmosphere in the carriage grew tense with anticipation. Scaya-san’s willingness to serve was a testament to her loyalty.
Afterward, she leaned in close. “Takumi-sama, please allow me to celebrate our coming victory with you,” she whispered, her expression eager.
I noticed Sayo-chan observing with curiosity rather than discomfort.
”Ah, Takumi-kun. Don’t mind me. You should focus on what makes you comfortable. I’m just here to learn,” Neige said, unfazed by the scene.
Since she’d given her blessing, I proceeded. Scaya-san and I adjusted our positions, and I supported her as we faced each other.
”Ahh… Takumi-sama’s presence is overwhelming… With your strength, you’ll surely secure both countries’ futures…” Scaya-san murmured.
”Hey, I wasn’t plann—”
Before I could finish, a staff officer rushed in, flustered. Unfazed by the situation, he delivered his report.
”We’ve encountered Princess Nyx of the Celon Dukedom. She’s fleeing to seek asylum in McGaref. What are your orders?”
”I’ll meet her gladly. Kindly escort me,” I said firmly.
Ranka-san had instructed me not to let them gain the upper hand. I signaled a nearby soldier to bring Ranka-san aboard the carriage. I continued my conversation with Scaya-san while preparing to greet the princess.
Princess Nyx, once aboard, stared in shock at the scene before her. When she recognized Scaya-san, her expression froze in disbelief.
”Scaya-dono… You are…”
”As you’ve surmised, after becoming a captive, I was purchased by this master. As his servant, it’s my duty to support him in every way,” Scaya-san replied boldly, her demeanor confident.
The air was thick with tension as I greeted Princess Nyx.
”It’s a pleasure to meet you, Princess Nyx Celon of the Celon Dukedom,” I said, maintaining a composed tone.
Her dignified appearance befitted royalty. The black-haired beauty reminded me of a more mature Chinatsu-chan, with a graceful presence.
”The honor is mine. I am Princess Nyx Celon of the Dukedom of Celon.”
”Yes, the now-defunct Dukedom of Celon,” I replied casually, following Weed-san’s guidance. I made it clear I was aware of the Dukedom’s fall, asserting our dominance.
”Rest assured, we will liberate the lands that were once your kingdom.”
Nyx bit her lip at my words. Though she held the right to inherit the throne, she was powerless. I made it clear I intended to claim the former Dukedom.
”However, depending on your cooperation, there may be a way forward for you.”
”And that would be…?”
”I’ll explain the details.”
At that moment, Ranka-san entered the carriage. We, the adults, had placed Princess Nyx in an unfortunate situation.
