A few times a week, I’d visit the Government Office to receive briefings from Autonomous Government officials. My trusted secretaries, Ranka and her sister Ms. Marina, kept things running smoothly—though Ranka was currently stationed in the Former Seron Duchy.
Returning to McGaref to a hero’s welcome, we dove straight into action. Weed and his team were already strategizing for tomorrow’s dungeon deep-dive. I, meanwhile, had scheduled an afternoon meeting with Mr. Ralph, Shiori’s father, using Kahoru as our liaison. The to-do list was endless: emergency supplies for both nations, fundraising, army reorganization—including captive slaves—diplomacy with the Quvarian Empire, and addressing the surge of orphaned children.
I stepped into the office to receive Ms. Marina’s report. T/N: Quvarian Empire is a dominant military power in the region. Wait—was that Chinatsu-chan preparing tea in a maid outfit? Officially, Nyx was listed as missing. I knew she’d been placed under surveillance and assigned to the Merchant Guild, but seeing her in a maid outfit was unexpected. Still, she was Chinatsu’s doppelganger.
”Her political acumen is invaluable, but she can’t act openly. We’ve renamed her Merina and assigned her as your shadow secretary. And Mori-Mori will also serve as your secretary.”
”At your service, Merina. Please treat me kindly.” She bowed deeply.
Merina exuded intelligence, and Ms. Marina’s choice of names hinted at her favoritism.
”I’ve purchased Merina’s virginity. Her first night is yours whenever you wish.” Ms. Marina’s casual tone was unnerving.
Was this appropriate in front of Mori-Mori? Sensing my hesitation, Ms. Marina smiled.

Rira and Kurumi entered, and we discussed the current crisis. The Quvarian-appointed governor had gone into hiding due to assassination threats, leaving the other four council members unchecked. Meanwhile, Imperial Capital forces demanded Ms. Natalie’s extradition.
”They seem to view her as your weak point.”
”…She’s the unacknowledged princess of the Former Lesta Kingdom.” I revealed the secret Naje had shared that morning.
