”Damn it… you bastards…” Bear groaned as he came to. If he kept chasing us like this, it would be trouble. I quickly shorted the patch cable connected to the battery I had hidden in my pocket and hurled it toward Bear, who was just beyond the hole in the wall we’d passed through.
Bang!
How’s that? This Ms. Melon’s homemade battery bomb.
It seemed Bear wasn’t going to follow anymore.
I slipped past the Gate beside Ms. Reina and headed for the exit on the other side.
Gate. Wait for me. Someday, I’ll open you properly and bring Yuuta here… Feeling a little sentimental, I reached for the doorknob on the opposite side.
Bang!
Suddenly, the door swung open with force, and I was slammed hard in the face, flying backward and landing on my backside.
”Ms. Melon, are you okay?” Ms. Reina rushed over to help me up—but right in front of me stood Bear. Damn, when did he sneak around?
”You damn bitch! How dare you mess with me like that. I’ll grind you to bits… Prepare yourself!”
Bang!
This time, the door slammed hard into Bear, who was standing in the doorway, sending him crashing down the hallway. Lieutenant Reina had closed the door with a roundhouse kick.
”Ms. Melon, it can’t be helped now. This is the final plan!”
Ms. Reina pressed her full weight against the door as she said it.
”…It can’t be helped. Yuuta… sorry!”
I said, pulling the battery bomb from my pocket and shorting the patch cable again.
Yes, at this point, there was no way to get out safely. If that was the case, at least if I destroyed the Gate, I could stop General Peacock and the Demon Clan’s ambitions. Ms. Reina and I had already agreed beforehand that if we failed to escape, this was the fallback plan.
The battery bomb began heating rapidly as the current shorted. While Ms. Reina held the door to keep Bear out, I placed the bomb near the Gate’s base… My mind flashed through the events since I’d reunited with Yuuta at Kashiwagi Manor like a vivid slideshow. But I had no intention of sharing the Gate’s fate, so after setting the bomb, I hurried back to Ms. Reina.
Boom!
Wait? Nothing happened. The bomb didn’t explode—dud!?
Looking down nervously, I saw the battery bomb had frozen solid.
”Really, girls, you’re harsh with your jokes. If we blew up the Gate, it’d be all over for everyone.”
That voice… Zaharu!? They’d used Cold Magic to freeze the bomb and stop the explosion.
Relieved for a moment, our tension broke—only for Ms. Reina and me to be slammed against the door again. Damn, Bear had gotten in.
”Seriously, Bear, this is your mess. You should apologize to the General.”
”Yeah, Zaharu, sorry. We underestimated them, but… I can’t forgive this anymore. I’m gonna kill them!”
”But if you kill them, we’ll have to get more batteries again…”
”What are you saying? They went this far. They won’t help us anymore. I’m killing them!”
”Alright, alright, I get it. I’ll smooth things over with the General. Bear will be responsible for stealing batteries from Zerlant.”
”Fine. Hey, Beastfolk girl, prepare yourself. I’m gonna tear you to pieces!”
Bear grabbed my hair, dragging me to the Gate, then suddenly tore my clothes apart. Ms. Reina was frozen, a gun pressed to her by Zaharu, unable to move.
”Haha, this is exciting. So, you wanted to save your brother-in-law through this Gate, huh? And you’re pregnant with his kid? Didn’t expect you to be so… lively. Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you quickly. You’ll scream in front of this Gate before you die.”
I was stripped bare, Bear standing exposed before me.
”Ms. Melon!”
”Just watch quietly, Lieutenant. Your turn is next.”
”Hey, Zaharu, I don’t do reptiles!”
”Alright, got it. Then when you finish with this little lady, I’ll shoot her between the eyes.”
”Hey, kid. I’m gonna shoot your body full of holes!”
”A… aah… Yuuta… big sister…”
Bear’s hand touched my crotch, and I closed my eyes, resigned.
But then—
Kyuuiiiin—
What? What’s that sound?
A high-pitched tone suddenly echoed through the room. Bear froze, still holding my knees. I cautiously opened my eyes to see his unpleasant member in front of me… no, behind it—
Wait, the Gate was glowing?
”Hey, Zaharu, what’s going on?”
”Don’t ask me, Bear. The Gate’s acting weird. Did they do something? Get away now!”
”Yeah…”
Before Bear finished speaking, a large orb of light shot from the glowing Gate, struck the ceiling, then fell to the floor, scattering light everywhere.
And standing there was… a person? An elf?
Could it be… Ms. Claudel? Wait, hold on. What the hell is this?
”Wait, what’s going on? This Gate isn’t even finished, right? So why is someone coming out of it?” Zaharu was flustered by the bizarre turn of events.
”Hey, Zaharu, what’s going on here?”
”Bear, just move away.”
”Yeah…”
But from above Bear, another large orb fell, hitting him squarely.
”Ugh! What the hell!?” Bear collapsed onto the floor from the shock.
As Bear finally lifted his head, a large potted plant fell straight on him.
Thud!
The impact knocked Bear out cold.
Ms. Reina, Zaharu, and I stood frozen, unable to speak.
”Hey, wait a minute… Big Sister Reina!?”
”Eh? A-are you… Sheena?”
”Yeah, that’s right. Why is my big sister here? No way, this is insane!”
”Um, are you alright? Oh no, this person just got hit by a rubber plant…”
That voice… I’d never forget it.
”Yuuta!!”
”Yes! Huh? You’re… Melon!?”
”Ah, ah… Yuuta… it’s really you…”
I was overwhelmed with emotion and threw myself at Yuuta.
Thud!
A loud noise sounded behind us—ah, Ms. Reina had knocked Zaharu out.
”Um, Sheena was acting strange even before we entered the Gate. But where exactly are we, Ms. Melon? And… why are you naked?” Ms. Claudel looked around, confused.
Ah, it really was her. I had no clue about the details, but Yuuta and Ms. Claudel had returned! And Sheena—wasn’t she Ms. Reina’s missing sister?
God. What kind of reward is this!?
”Damn… damn it… what the hell is going on here…”
Oh no, the damn Bear had come to. The hallway was growing noisy, too.
”Ms. Melon, there’s so much to talk about, but we don’t have time for that. Let’s get out of here!” Ms. Reina shouted. I, along with the three bewildered newcomers, hurried after her without hesitation.
Notes:
• Zaharu – Male. A specialist in charge of transporting and installing the gate. He works closely with Reina to ensure the gate’s functionality and security.
• Claudel – The elf captain of the royal guard assigned to Princess Asuka. At first, she had a strong dislike for Yuuta, who is human. Now, Yuuta’s saffle.
• Sheena – A Lizardman from the Apocalypse Empire, specifically a junior researcher in the teleportation research team of the empire’s army. She is the 47th resident (hence ‘No. 47’) of the secret underground facility in Nevada, where she has been living for several years after accidentally being transported to this world through a failed gate experiment. Yuuta’s saffle too.
