For the past two months, Shogo Gotanba and his crew had been living the ultimate life.
Anyone who got annoyed by freeloaders got their comeuppance with brute force—group beatings were routine. Smoking, drinking, chasing women—they spent their prep money without restraint. And no teacher was around to scold them. It was the perfect environment for these troublemakers.
”Ahhh… Otherworld is the best!” one of them shouted.
”Totally! No annoying teachers, and we can smack anyone who pisses us off with our powers. Plus, we can indulge in whatever we want… and women too! Otherworld’s got it all!”
Their cocky behavior wasn’t random. From an outsider’s perspective, it was painfully clear: they thought they were the coolest just for getting away with crime, feeling untouchable and awesome.
They particularly enjoyed intimidation and freeloading. Beating the faces of terrified people brought them joy, and chasing after managers or waiters demanding payment, only to gang up on them, was currently their favorite pastime.
Today, they planned to brazenly return to a restaurant they had stiffed before. They would gauge the staff’s reactions, then wreak havoc, smashing fixtures and anything else in sight. If any guards showed up, the crew intended to glare them down, take an aggressive stance, and maybe leave them half-broken—an optional bonus.
”Bwahahaha! Today’s gonna be fun!” Gotanba yelled as they set fire to the inn where they had stayed the previous night, then strode off into chaos.
