Chapter 90 Shirogane Aqua of Another World, the Pure Maiden Shumi
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
My name was Shirogane Aqua.
Just your average, ordinary high school student.
”Huh? What’s this?” I muttered.
One day, after finishing my usual routine, I was zoning out on my bed in that all-too-familiar post-“wise man time” haze when I noticed an app I didn’t recognize on my phone.
”Crap, did I watch too many dirty sites?”
Panicking, I tried to delete it, but my clumsy finger slipped and opened the thing instead. Damn it! Just like those trashy pop-up ads where the close button’s hidden in the corner. Restart won’t work, power button’s useless—yeah, this was definitely malware.
The screen went black, then a message box blinked into existence.
[Are you prepared to fight? YES / NO]
”No way! Fight what? I’m not signing up for that,” I said, pressing NO.
[Are you prepared to protect the world? YES / NO]
”How the hell’s a normal high schooler supposed to protect the world? NO!”
[Can we entrust our feelings to you? YES / NO]
”Oh for—hell no! Who’d take some stranger’s baggage?!”
I jabbed NO again.
[Do you have a wish you want fulfilled? YES / NO]
That one made me pause. Well… yeah. I was just a healthy teenage boy, after all. And every guy my age had at least once dreamed of living the harem life, right? Without hesitation, I hit YES.
[May fortune be with your future.]
”Huh? Wait, what the hell does that mean?”
Another message popped up.
[Would you like to draw a new card? Free for first time / Single / Ten-pull / Guaranteed ★5 / Bonus +1 for ten-pull]
”…Hold up. This isn’t malware, it’s just a gacha game?”
Maybe I’d just downloaded it while half-asleep. Whatever. Free pull’s a free pull. I pressed the button.
…
…
……
”Nothing’s happening!?”
At last, a timer appeared.
[Summoning complete in 9 minutes 47 seconds]
”What kind of intro lasts this long!? This isn’t some 30-year-old J-pop opening—or early dial-up internet!” I snapped. “Take notes from Abe Akiko’s lightning-fast homepage!”
I threw my phone down on the blanket, still ranting.
That’s when the window rattled violently.
”Whoa!?”
An earthquake? No… just the glass vibrating. I opened the window and spotted smoke rising nearby.
”Too close for comfort. Was that an explosion?”
Screams echoed.
”Please, someone! At least save the children!”
”What the hell…?” My chest tightened. Accident? Attack? Either way, people were in trouble.
Maybe… maybe I could help.
Shoes half on, I bolted toward the smoke.
Coughing in the thick haze, I muttered, “What is this? Building demolition?”
The closer I got, the clearer it became. Something had fallen onto an apartment block—part of it collapsed into rubble.
The scene that followed nearly made me vomit.
Human in full-face armor were slaughtering civilians without mercy.
”What the… what the hell are they!?”
Instinctively, I reached for my phone, but—
[Summoning complete in 5 minutes 13 seconds]
”Damn it! Still stuck!?”
I froze, torn between running and staying. Then a small girl tripped and fell right in front of me. Behind her, one of the armored knights raised their sword.
”Damn it all!!”
Before I knew it, my body had moved. I snatched her out of harm’s way just as the blade came down.
”You okay? We need to run!” I urged.
”U-um… but, Mama…”
My gut twisted. I was just a high school kid—I couldn’t search for her mom. Not here. Not now. Hugging the trembling girl tight, I sprinted through the dust cloud.
But even in the choking haze, the knight pursued, eyes locked on us.
”What the hell is going on!?” I yelled.
Blocked by rubble, I stopped. No way forward. Heart pounding, I set the girl down.
”I’ll distract them. You run when I say.”
I grabbed a rusty iron pipe. Better than nothing.
”Come on, then!”
The knight’s sword sliced the pipe like tofu, sparks spraying. I barely ducked in time, a cold shiver crawling down my spine.
The knight paused, helm glinting faintly as if scanning the sky. Was there even a person inside that armor?
I edged backward. A side alley—maybe a chance to escape alone.
But I clenched my teeth. “No way I’m living with that shame!”
My favorite Sunday hero show, Masked Driver Heaven’s Sword, had taught me better. Souji Kenzaki never abandoned anyone.
I turned to the girl.
”Listen! Your big brother’s got this. You take that alley and run as fast as you can!”
”U-um. But… what about you, big brother?” she asked.
I flashed her a grin, showing my teeth.
”I’ll beat this bastard into the ground, then come after you. Now go!”
”O-okay. Big brother, you promise!”
I watched her sprint off before gripping the jagged end of a broken iron pipe.
The knight, who had been staring at the sky, lowered their gaze to me and raised their sword once more.
”Come on, then!” I shouted.
All I could think about was buying her a few more seconds to escape.
But to do that, I couldn’t just defend. No—like Kenzaki always said, life doesn’t start until you go on the attack!
”Uooooooooh!”
I lunged, aiming the iron pipe at the gaps between the plates of their armor.
But the moment I struck, the pipe bent uselessly with a sickening crunch.
”You’ve got to be kidding me…”
A second later, the knight’s blade came crashing down from above.
Ah. So this was it. My life, over. Please—just let that little girl get away safely…
”I’ve finally found you.”
The knight before me split cleanly in two, as if sliced by an unseen force.
What—what the hell just happened!? My eyes darted wildly. That voice just now…
”I’m glad my master turned out to be someone like you.”
I froze. The voice was beautiful, resolute.
Descending gracefully from the sky, a stunning girl landed before me. Her sapphire eyes, like flawless jewels, looked only at me.
I knew her. I… knew her.
”You’re…”
At first I thought it was just some elaborate cosplay. But no. The authenticity screamed straight into my brain. This was no costume.
Standing before me was the very heroine I adored from my favorite game.
”Nice to meet you, Master. My name is Kanon Stars Goshenite. Please, remember it.”
Kanon Stars Goshenite—the main heroine of Pure Maiden’s Shumi, a simulation game.
Born a princess of the Stars Kingdom in the Stellar Realm, she fought against the invading Magic Armor Knights from beyond the stars, a princess and knight who defended her people.
Wait—then the thing I’d been fighting really was one of those magic weapons!?
”Now, Master. The Arbitrator and Inquisitor have already explained everything. Give me your command!”
Arbitrator? Inquisitor? What the hell?
No—forget that! If it’s Kanon, if it’s her, she can turn this around!
”Kanon! Please! Help protect everyone here!”
At my words, Kanon’s lips curved slightly.
”Not ‘defeat the enemy,’ but ‘protect the people’? That’s… not a bad order.”
She noticed the swarm of Magic Armor Knights materializing and stepped in front of me, sword raised.
Fated heroine—Kanon Stars Goshenite.
How many burdens had she carried on that small back, fighting to protect so many lives?
I clenched my teeth at my own helplessness, able only to hide behind her.
”Haaaaaaaah!”
Kanon leapt straight into the enemy ranks, cutting down multiple knights in an instant. Her movements were flawless, breathtaking.
Damn it! Wasn’t there anything I could do!?
”Huh?”
Something hard pressed against my leg. I reached into my pocket and found a stack of cards—ten of them.
[★5 Ultra Card: Promised Maiden’s Victorious Sword / Kanon-only, cuts through all. Disappears after use.]
[★5 Ultra Card: Girl Loved by Fate / Kanon-only, all events fall to her grasp. Disappears after use.]
[★4 Guest Card: Star-Reader Queen / Kanon’s grandmother, Mary, summoned at peak form. One battle only.]
[★2 Guest Card: Fallen Princess / Kanon’s sister, Victoria, summoned. One battle only.]
[★3 Support Card: Bulletin Board / Certain abilities grow stronger with time. One use.]
[★3 Support Card: Verification Team / Analyzes enemy weaknesses. Four uses.]
[★4 Weapon Card: Heaven’s Sword / God’s blade that cleaves the sky. Effective against females.]
[★1 Summon Card: Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721 / Summons Kanon’s companion.]
[★1 Joke Card: Ponnami / Kanon-only. Turns Kanon into a klutz. T/N: pun on ponkotsu—useless, clumsy.]
[★5 Nocturne Card: Pure Maiden’s Shumi / Kanon-only. Ahem, a lewd event will occur.]
My eyes widened. Right—the game said the first pull was a ten-roll.
I grabbed the Heaven’s Sword card, stunned. A weapon card? If I used it, maybe I could fight too. But how—?
Then a voice echoed in my head:
Warning: This weapon card has unlimited use. However, if the weapon breaks, the card will vanish. Use Weapon Card: Heaven’s Sword to summon Heaven’s Sword? Y/N.
Yes—of course yes!!
I activated the card. In front of me, the familiar sword materialized out of nothing.
Alright. Now I could fight too.
”Uooooooooh!”
With Heaven’s Sword in hand, I slashed down a Magic Armor Knight.
Incredible. This was the very sword Heaven’s Sword had wielded. Worlds apart from the junk pipe I’d used earlier.
”Master!?” Kanon exclaimed when she noticed me fighting.
”I’m fine! Focus on saving as many people as you can!”
”Yes! Understood! But… one request. Please use the summon card in your possession. It’s vexing to admit, but something is better than nothing.”
Summon card? Ah—Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721.
In the original game, Kanon fought alone on the frontlines, too strong to fight alongside anyone else. Even so, she kept battling to protect others.
But then, in the midst of her lonely war, she found a broken Magic Armor Knight.
That was Hagetoru 0721.
For reasons only she knew, Kanon repaired its shattered body.
Too faulty to remain in service, discarded as junk—yet from then on, Hagetoru 0721 became her irreplaceable partner.
I raised the card: Summon Card, Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721. Do you wish to summon Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721? Once used, this card remains permanently summoned. Y/N.
”Yes!!” I shouted.
The air tore open right beside me, and from that rift stepped a figure I knew all too well.
”I am Hagetoru 0721. You are my master, correct?” she said.
R–real. She was real. Silver hair cascading down her back, skin pale as porcelain, curves dressed in a maid-like outfit. The very image from the game stood before me, no longer bound to the screen.
Kanon dropped down just a step away, eyes widening. My heart nearly burst. The best yuri couple as voted by fans—the beautiful Kanon and the stunning Hagetoru—together, alive, right in front of me.
”Geez! If you were coming, you should’ve been faster!” Kanon snapped.
”I detect joy in your voice. Perhaps you missed me,” Hagetoru replied flatly.
Kanon flushed bright red.
Oh my god. I knew this scene. I’d seen it more times than my own parents’ faces.
Distracted, Kanon almost got skewered before she twisted away from the enemy’s strike.
”Kanon, focus on the battle,” Hagetoru said.
”This is your fault!” Kanon yelled, nearly screaming.
Even the usually noble Kanon transformed into a flustered girl whenever Hagetoru was near. If only Pegonia-san, her loyal battle attendant, were here too! Damn it, why didn’t I pull Pegonia’s card when I had the chance?
”Forget that. Hagetoru, finish this fight—we’ll use that move!” Kanon commanded.
”Understood. Commencing action,” Hagetoru said.
She stretched out her hand. From the air, vines whipped out, snaring the enemy knights. Of course—her specialty was Plant Magic. The game’s description made it clear: no one surpassed her when it came to making plants grow.
”Now, Kanon!”
”Leave it to me!”
Her sword glowed with blinding light. Dimensional cracks spread around us. And there it was—the scene I had burned into my memory a thousand times.
“The bone of my graces.
My body was made of Shumi.
Heart of a maiden; virgin is my blood.
Blood pure, heart eternal maiden.
Unbeaten in board debates; the Maiden of Promised Victory.
Never defeated in message board arguments, the promised maiden of victory.
Everything about me is made up of bulletin board users!
Yes—my entire being, forged of keijiban-min, the board-dwellers!“
“This ends now!”
Kanon swung her sword, and from the rifts poured forth the denizens of the message boards, piloting living magic armor knights called Keiji Baan. They became her blade, tearing through the enemy knights.
T/N: pun on “Keiji Baan”—”keijiban” = bulletin board.
Annihilation Encirclement Magic Circle: Unlimited Board Users. I never thought I’d see it with my own eyes.
Hagetoru’s eyes gleamed. “Activating magical radar. No enemy signatures detected. Annihilation confirmed. Our overwhelming victory.”
Was it finally over? I exhaled heavily, every bone in my body sagging. I wanted nothing more than to collapse into bed.
Then, faint in the distance—the wail of police sirens.
Wait. Oh hell. This wasn’t good. How the hell was I supposed to explain? I rolled gacha, the game girls came out, and they killed everything for me. Yeah, that’d go over real smooth. Worse, the girls who’d saved everyone might end up arrested.
”Both of you, come with me! Let’s head to my place,” I urged.
”Understood, Master.”
”Route to your home calculated. I will navigate,” Hagetoru said.
She even had navigation functions? Useful as ever. No wonder players always joked: “If you’ve got Hagetoru, the rest sorts itself out.” Leave it to her, she’ll solve it within the hour.
”Hah… hah… somehow, we made it back alive.”
At last we reached my room. I ushered them inside and dropped onto the floor, catching my breath.
”Heart rate elevated. Master appears aroused by Kanon,” Hagetoru stated.
”Wha—!?” Kanon gasped.
”Hagetoru! What are you saying!?”
I flailed. “No, no, I’m just tired from running! I mean… okay, maybe a little, but that’s normal, right!?”
”Detecting tissues in trash can with strong semen odor. Judging from concentration, masturbation occurred recently,” Hagetoru continued.
Kanon turned crimson while I buried my face in my hands. Some things were better left unsaid.
”Thin book found on bed. Illustration depicts naked female subjected to intense acts. Upon inspection, the character strongly resembles Kanon.”
”Eh!?” Kanon cried.
I lunged forward, snatching the doujinshi from Hagetoru’s hands before Kanon could glimpse it. It wasn’t just resemblance—it was her. No way was I letting her see that.
”Conclusion: Master desires sexual intercourse with Kanon,” Hagetoru said calmly.
”Stop it!!” Kanon shouted, red as fire.
I panicked. How the hell did you turn this doll off?
”Kanon’s body temperature rising. Analysis: teenage girl, still a virgin, curious about male body. Appears not entirely opposed,” Hagetoru droned.
Kanon’s ears burned scarlet. I wanted the earth to swallow me whole.
”Cycle check: today is optimal for conception. If intercourse occurs, pregnancy probability is 98%. Recommend using Nocturne Card: Shumi of the Pure Maiden. Current supplies: no condoms, no pills. With activation, 100% chance of raw intercourse with virgin Kanon,” Hagetoru declared.
”You—IDIOT!!” Kanon screamed.
God damn it, where the hell was that summoning card? If I could just recall her back into the app… I fumbled with my phone, desperate to check Hagetoru’s description again.
[Star 1, Summon Card: Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721 / Kanon’s Companion. Summon Magic Doll Hagetoru 0721. Warning: Once summoned, it will persist indefinitely. Includes auto-repair function.]
”This thing’s invincible…” I muttered, slumping forward.
While I hung my head, footsteps sounded outside the door.
Crap. I got so caught up with the Hagetoru card that I completely forgot what time my family comes home!
”Aqua-chan, I’m home! I heard a racket all the way from the entrance—were you in the middle of on**i? Sorry! If you were, Mama will take responsibility and finish things for you, so forgive me, okay? …Wait. Girls? Two of them!?”
My mother stepped into the room, her eyes wide as she stared at the pair.
Damn it! I should’ve prepared a good excuse before she got home!
”Oh my, are these Aqua-chan’s friends?” she asked.
”Yes, Mother. We are Master’s s** friends,” said one doll flatly.
”Just shut up, Hagetoru! You’re making this worse!” Kanon snapped.
”Aqua-chan,” Mother sighed, “I know boys your age can only think about girls’ bodies, but your first time being a threesome? That’s no good. You should practice properly with Mama first.”
”Mother,” the second doll said politely, “then perhaps a foursome? I request a 4P. By the way, Master, I am a Magic Doll, so you may… finish inside as much as you like.”
”I—I have to fight, so no, not inside, that’s not—ugh, that’s not even the point!”
I buried my face in my hands.
I had a mountain of things to worry about, and somehow this had spiraled into absolute madness.
Inside my head, I screamed with everything I had.
* * *
Meanwhile…
”What the hell is this place!?” I stomped my foot in frustration.
One moment, everything went white. The next, I was here, in some dark cave.
When I glanced at my reflection in the lake, I saw my body had shrunk down. What the hell happened to me!?
”Hm?”
I froze. Someone was nearby.
”From that children’s picture book, The Lonely Great Kaiju. You’re Yukari-gon, right?”
”…Who the hell are you?” I demanded.
Children’s book? I had no clue what this woman was babbling about.
She smiled at me gently, wearing a suit.
”Who knows? Until I was summoned here, I never realized I was just a character in a game.”
Game? World? None of this made sense.
Come to think of it, on my way here, some weird guy was rambling endlessly. His explanation was so long and boring I fell asleep. Maybe that was related?
”I’m Atori Ako, president of Beryl Entertainment from the otome idol-raising game BERYL. Nice to meet you, Great Kaiju Yukari-gon.”
Huh. I didn’t get it, but somehow I felt I could trust her. Unlike the jerks who used to bully me, she actually smelled nice.
”Just call me Yukari. In exchange, I’ll call you Akocchi.”
”That’s fine. Nice to meet you again, Yukari. Until we each find a new Master, I’ll guide you through this world.”
Huh. So that’s what the outside looked like. I peeked through a gap in Akocchi’s shoulder bag.
This place was way more advanced than where I came from.
Across the glowing walls, projections flashed nonstop:
“Who’s the strongest in the universe? Morikawa Kaede vs. King Gorilla, now showing!”
“Even at thirty, can you still become a magical girl? One-sixth scale Kirika Kotono figure on sale now!”
“The ultimate idol finally arrives! Paradise Master Idol, Tsukimachi Ayana, debuts! Special revival gacha for Kurushima Fran and Jou Maron—ten-pull rates boosted!”
“The Twelfth Bishop appears, strongest of them all! Fallen Sister Chihiro Claire descends! Popular light novel Saint Chronicles latest volume now on sale!!”
And more: “Battle Royale of legends with superpowers! Hakuryuu Aiko vs. Tsukasa Kei vs. Yakumo Itsuki vs. Murai Kumano vs. Shimizu Kisuka!”
Not bad. This world didn’t look boring at all.
”Hey! I told you not to stick your head out,” Akocchi scolded.
”But I’m bored,” I pouted, pulling back inside the bag.
Yawning, I curled up and let out soft snores, falling asleep instantly. Exploring could wait until after dark.
By the way, the child he saved—Shii-chan—later reunited safely with her mom.
