Several days had passed since the Antsauroid attack. To Ayumu’s surprise, the streets of the Valend Cave Kingdom had already been restored in a very short time. Now there were no broken buildings or ruins anywhere. It almost felt like the disaster a few days ago had been nothing but a bad dream.
”Dwarves are amazing…”
The words of wonder slipped from his lips in a small voice.
”Is this the last one?”
One of the envoys sent urgently from Yugan asked him that. Ayumu recalled what had happened that morning.
Early this morning, a rider had suddenly arrived with a message: “Lord Sanai! His Highness Crown Prince Aare’s condition has suddenly worsened! By order of Her Majesty the Empress, you are to pack your things at once and return immediately!”
Still… Ayumu could not think of any reason why Crown Prince Aare’s health would suddenly fail. It had been a long time since he was involved with the prince. It should not have been his fault. But…
(If it really was because of me, what do I do…)
Shaking, trembling, almost in tears, he thought,
I am not ready to be parted from my body yet… I do not want to be executed by beheading…
And so, in fear and dread, Ayumu set out once more for Yugan.
