Volume 9 Chapter 63 Day Three (A New God)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”…Huh?”
”What troubles you, Takumi-sama?” Nyx tilted her head, ever composed.
”I don’t know… Nyx, something’s wrong. Seriously wrong.”
I could sense my owned slaves, at least to some degree. Not something I could explain—not something I’d ever admit out loud, especially not to Nyx. But I knew. Something was off with Ms. Marina, with Ranka-san, with Kurumi-chan. Disturbances, ripples, warning bells. And there was nothing I could do. No way to check. No room to act.
Worse was the gnawing, stomach-deep wrongness happening inside me.
”…Tak-kun? What’s up?” Meruru’s voice broke in, innocent as ever.
”Ah, uh—it’s just. Rira-chan… she’s… a god, right?”
”…A god? But the god of this world is Grandmother, isn’t she?”
”R-right. Of course. Yeah.”
Crap. Said that out loud in front of Meruru. But I couldn’t un-know it anymore. The shift in the system was obvious. A new Skill in my status screen: One Who Commands Even Gods. Something I’d never seen before. Which meant… one of my slaves was divine. And I didn’t need a guess chart. It was Rira-chan. No doubt.
And that made the bitter taste in my mouth even sharper.
”Damn it. Why does war always have to happen? Is peace really so hard? So impossible…?”
All I could do was spill useless complaints into the air, knowing they’d change nothing.
* * *
”Rira. Please. Can you try explaining this more coherently?”
”I’m tellin’ ya, Shion, I don’t get it either! But… it’s true. I’m a god now…”
Shion’s jaw clenched so tight a vein stood out on her forehead. Even while sustaining Resurrection Magic, even while already at her limit, she kept her eyes locked on Rira. They still had three classmates left to bring back. Time limit: twenty-four hours. And the clock was merciless.
The first one they’d resurrected had been Yoshizaki Rira. She sat there now, shoulders sagging, voice hollow. And she remembered everything.
Dragging Nagasaka Shion off against her will.
Driving a dagger into Yawashi Jiro’s chest as he shielded Takada Honoka.
Sliding the blade into the back of Honoka’s skull as she sobbed over Jiro’s corpse.
Slitting Mido Kentaro’s throat as he froze in horror.
Every act of betrayal. Every drop of blood. Rira had come back carrying it all.
”…If you’re a god, can’t you fix this? Can’t you do something?” Shion’s voice was icy, but desperate.
”I’m tryin’, I swear. Searchin’ every corner I can. But I don’t have much I can do… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault…”
”It is not your fault, Rira-san. God.” Korn’s voice was reverent. “All of this is Livia’s evil alone.”
The divinity he felt in her was unmistakable. For Korn, the god he was sworn to serve could only be Yoshizaki Rira.
”If Korn-san accepts it, then sure, you’re a god. But… a classmate as Ranking #1, another as a king, now one as a god… busy doesn’t begin to cover it. Rira. Lend me your lips.”
Rira blinked, then leaned closer. Shion didn’t hesitate—her lips pressed against Rira’s. Their saliva mingled, power flowing between them. Divine energy coursing into Shion, who was already at the threshold of witchhood.
Cartera. Dora Ghorat. Both had reached similar heights through after-the-fact reinforcement. But this was different: the wavelength of Magic Power and divine force synchronized perfectly because they’d once been classmates.
No healer had ever become a witch. Even Clarice—attackless Clarice—had been an anomaly. But Shion was stepping beyond record and precedent both.
She gasped, voice breaking, body trembling. “Hhhn… ahh…! Please—touch me more… your Magic Power is too strong, it’s overwhelming—!”
Korn averted his eyes, focusing instead on assisting with the Resurrection Magic. But Shion’s expression was heated, her fingers desperate as they grabbed Rira’s, guiding her lower.
”Make me come. If you feel guilty, then prove it—make me come, ahh, ahhhhn—!”
Her voice cracked, ragged, as her body shuddered. She was still shaping Resurrection Magic even as climax ripped through her, even as saliva slipped from her lips, even as liquid spattered from below.
”Lick me.”
”…Okay. Hold on…”
Rira dropped to her knees, mouth working, tongue tracing, fingers teasing, trying to ground Shion’s spiraling Magic Power by releasing its excess.
”…So if I became a god, then something must’ve happened to Rusty, huh…”
”Maybe. But whether he’s gone or not—ahhh—it doesn’t matter right now. This is… frustrating. Too slow, too clumsy—I need someone more skilled. Korn-san. Fetch Ms. Natalie. And the Madam of Night Butterfly.”
”Natalie… the courtesan princess of Lesta. Understood.”
”Thank you. I can’t stop Resurrection Magic. I can’t… ahh… leave this spot…”
Natalie arrived first. Her hands, her lips, her pace—it was all practiced, honed, impossibly refined. She carried Shion to smooth peaks and eased her down again, keeping her from breaking while still siphoning off the Magic Power overflow.
With that, Shion succeeded. Takada Honoka’s body reformed first.
”…Wait, didn’t Rira kill me—?”
”Honoka-chan! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry—!” Rira wailed, clutching her.
”Eh? Rira!? Shion!? W-wait, isn’t this way too lewd—!?”
Liz, Madam of Night Butterfly, arrived next, joining Natalie, adding her own exquisite rhythm. Shion’s body melted between them even as she kept chanting, weaving resurrection formulae.
Yawashi Jiro came next, shielded by Honoka’s hands clamped desperately over his eyes. “No! Don’t look!” she cried. Kentaro too had his vision blocked.
Later, though, both would admit in whispers: “Just the voices alone… I nearly lost it.” “Yeah. Sorry, Honoka-chan, but I leaked a little pre just from listening…”
None of them blamed Rira. She sobbed, apologizing over and over, and instead of hate she found herself pulled into their arms, comforted.
By dawn, all were restored. Shion collapsed, asleep, utterly spent.
”…Thanks, Shion. Because of you, everyone’s back.”
”God. A message from Councilor Anne and Councilor Gandolf.”
”Right. It’s time. I’ll do my part… even if I’m a useless god, I can at least be bait.”
McGaref had paused the war, that much they knew from Hikari’s intel. And the First Emperor already knew Rira had become divine. Which meant she was a summoned piece on the board against Livia.
”Idiot,” came a voice from behind. “You just got resurrected. Don’t go dying again.”
”…Shion. You were awake?”
”That’s all I wanted to say. Goodnight.”
”…Yeah. Goodnight.”
And so, Rira set out. She passed through the sealed west gate, nerves taut, escorted by Anne’s shadows and the paired guards Mikoshiba Isshin and Kandagawa Rinko, headed north into McGaref.

Meanwhile, in the Quvarian Empire, Minister of Military Affairs Roshima could only despair. Sheryl was dead. The imperial capital’s boy heir had already been assassinated. In just two days, one of the Four Great Nations had crumbled.
”That First Emperor… to have bought our nation outright. But how? Why is Takumi Nash, ‘Ruler of McGaref,’ also my sovereign?!”
Discount Skill’s perception obstruction had twisted everything. Everyone knew the ruler had changed hands. But none grasped the truth: that First Emperor and Takumi Nash were the same person. Instead, they stumbled under the illusion of two rulers.
Diplomats had already been dispatched east and south for truce talks. West was Roshima’s burden to carry.
”Your Excellency, where shall we…?”
Originally they had gone to plead for Sheryl’s life. Now they lingered, stalled near McGaref. Word had spread: the eastern and southern gates were already under ceasefire.
”…As Minister of Military Affairs, I must pay respects to our new lord. But which one…?”
The question lingered, unspoken, on every aide’s face. They had already halted interference with Takumi Nash and Emperor Halka・Date. By morning, Takumi’s entourage would likely arrive in McGaref.
”…Marina=Katarina’s death came a day too soon.”
He hadn’t meant to say it, but the regret slipped out. He knew she’d been Takumi’s lover, alongside her daughter and sister.
”And Natalie=Barklem. That phantom princess of Lesta. Takumi risked everything for her, didn’t he?”
”Yes. Our officials have been assassinated in droves since.”
”So ruthless. So short-tempered. But gentle to his women. By killing his mistress… someone must pay the price.”
He pressed his eyes, grief flickering across his face. He knew his own death would be the simplest coin, but also knew it would doom the Empire. Which meant… he had to offer someone else.
”…Major Chieri?” suggested an aide. “Married, but young. Noble-born. If we must give someone up… she’s the least-worst option.”
Roshima exhaled. He hated it. He knew what it meant. But he nodded.
”…I’ll tell her myself. She was leading the second sabotage unit, circling north, wasn’t she?”
”Yes. If we move now, she’ll reach them by morning.”
”…Then we head for Takumi Nash.”
He would not bow to the First Emperor. Not after Sheryl’s murder. His path turned north, toward McGaref, where by the dawn of the fourth day, fates would collide.
