One of the Holy Kingdom of Alyurein’s officers whispered the words, awestruck, just before Ayumu would be named Special Honorary Count on the demi-human continent.
And he was right to gasp.
Before them stretched the full might of the central continent—an allied host gathered along the border of the Union Kingdom and the Holy Kingdom of Alyurein. The sheer number alone inspired confidence.
It was only possible thanks to the Lumone Agricultural Nation, the breadbasket of the southeast. Their massive grain shipments kept bellies full. Without it, even mighty Nainas and its dragon-riding knights could never have joined.
The first objective was clear: support the ground forces pushing into the demon king’s occupied Union Kingdom and secure a foothold.
Those ground forces were a patchwork of elites: Alyurein’s Holy Knights, remnants of the Union Kingdom’s army, Magnus Magic Nation’s southern spellcasters, the Salane Holy Nation’s healers, and reinforcements from the Dukedom of Karanas. Behind them came Laine Federation’s deep coffers and Gelene Industrial Nation’s weapons and machines.
Every contingent was drawn from the best their nations could field. Even without the feared Sylas Strong Nation, there was no reason to expect defeat.
This war was winnable.
Just yesterday, the Hero’s party had marched in, joined by fresh legions from the Caesaran Empire. And the rumor electrified the camp: among them, the strongest fighters alive—the famed Twin Greatswords of Flugel.
A noble cause: liberating the Union Kingdom from the demon king’s grasp. A host of seasoned allies. And warriors whose names were already legend. No wonder the camp buzzed with optimism.
”Nothing left to fear! We will drive the demon army back and reclaim the Union Kingdom!”
The general in charge of Alyurein’s vanguard raised his voice in a solemn vow.
And in answer, the soldiers roared, their battle-cry rolling like thunder beneath the gray sky on the eve of war.
