Volume 11 Chapter 19 Takumi-kun Blows Himself Up
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Takumi. Are you really fine with not going to the Labyrinth?”
”You know we’re barely scraping by as it is. Living day to day.”
”Yeah, yeah. We’ve all gotten lighter lately.”
”Not the kind of diet I wanted.”
The dining hall was buzzing with classmates, their voices bouncing off the stone walls. They didn’t look exactly thrilled about halting our Labyrinth expeditions, but not crushed either—more like… cautiously relieved, yet worried. They still followed my plans as their base line, even if they voiced doubts. I needed to tell Kanare-san soon too…
”Yeah. I want everyone to start working at Merchant Guild Katarina.”
”Wait, isn’t that Shiori-chan’s place?”
”Yep. We’ll match people to the right work once we see who fits where.”
I’d already asked Ranka-san to help. As the group slowly started relaxing at the idea of guild work instead of dangerous dungeon crawling, Shion-chan raised her hand.
”Nasu-kun. We don’t have citizenship, remember? Without it, we can only work the Labyrinth… or brothels.”
”Oh—don’t worry. I’ve got that covered.”
Everyone would have provisional citizenship by tonight. Still, we couldn’t let rumors start, so I had Anne-san handle the quiet arrangements. She’d said, “Takumi-chan’s soft on useless people… but that’s what makes grandma love you,” and agreed with a laugh. That alone proved just how much she really liked me.
She’d been the type to mercilessly discard the useless for McGaref’s sake. Definitely not soft at heart.
”Well, if that’s the case.”
”Also… sorry, but I need some of you going back to the Labyrinth tomorrow. We’ll prep your gear today.”
Groans rippled around the room. Shion-chan’s temple twitched—probably because she already knew Ginga-kun would be picked.
Then the lineup I announced drew sharp gasps.
”Date-san I get, but Asakura-san and Kadokura-san too?”
”Is that… safe?”
First squad: Kito Ginga, Nagasaka Shion, Suenaga Tatsuhiro, Date Haruka.
Second squad: Kotaro Kano, Kano Sayo, Domoto Katsuya, Asakura Chinatsu, Kadokura Hikari.
I’d moved Domoto-kun down from first to second squad, pulled Haruka-chan up from third, and dragged Chinatsu-chan and Hikari-chan all the way from fifth. Fifth squad was our weakest. Honestly, they were basically the baggage crew. It was natural everyone sounded uneasy.
”Domoto-kun, I want you guarding Hikari-chan.”
”Fine, but seriously… you talk like you know the Labyrinth when you don’t.”
I got it—his frustration. But it was risky to reveal Hikari-chan’s Lucky Charm Skill now. I couldn’t trust everyone’s mouths to stay shut… which was why everyone in MDGC had been made slaves and bound with Enslavement Magic to keep our secrets.
”Sorry. I’ll make it up to you.”
I pressed my palms together and bowed. Later, when someone whispered to the notorious virgin-lover Domoto-kun, “Your reward will be s** with a virgin girl,” he’d do a complete 180 and start working like a madman. Figures.
”Sorry, sorry. I’ll manage my own body somehow,” I muttered.
”Nasu-kun. Can you really call that a fighting force?” Shion-chan’s words were dry and sharp as glass.
Fair point. In normal terms, Chinatsu-chan was a liability right now.
”Shion-chan. I’ll work hard, so it’s fine.”
”That’s what worries me. Don’t push yourself over others.”
I needed Chinatsu-chan for her Chisame radar—she could somehow sense that strange youki-like aura. Combined with Hikari-chan’s Lucky Charm Skill, maybe they could track down a Chisame. It was worth trying.
”Besides, I’ve arranged for some backup tomorrow.”
Tomorrow was our big push. We’d aim for the Labyrinth’s Upper Layer and go after the Agilaus Staff. If we ignored her mana cost, Haruka-chan was already top-tier… but her fuel consumption was just too brutal. So the plan was to hold her back, reach the deepest chamber, and then have her blow the guardian away with one maxed-out strike.
I needed Kanare-san in the support team too, so I’d have to talk to her tonight. That meant speaking to Councilor Gandolf… and swaying Priest Korn at the church… and killing Katarina and Mafat. Ugh. My to-do list was ridiculous.
And then… my eyes brushed across Rira-chan. My Skill had told me she still carried her divine seat. Whether she couldn’t say it, or didn’t want to… we had to talk.
Order of virgins to claim went Haruka-chan first, then Rira-chan. Should I take them both tonight, or one after the other…
”Hey, Takumi. Are you even listening?”
”Ah—yeah. I was thinking, I’ll go rough with Haruka-chan, and take a lovey-dovey route with Rira-chan.”
Ah. Crap.
”…Hah?”
”…Hah?”
”…HAAAH?!”
The boys bristled, killing intent crackling in the air. Unlike the cool, untouchable Aria, Rira-chan was all big boobs and easy charm—a favorite among the guys. This… might’ve riled them up even more than yesterday.
”Ehehe… Takumi-kun’s gonna take me hard…♡ Maybe I’ll lose my virginity in a public training-s** at Merchant Guild Katarina… though their torture room is super pretty too…♡”
”No wayyy, I’m losing my virginity to an instant r*** in the torture room♡” Haruka-chan giggled, twirling her hair.
Ah, wait. Hold up. You two absolute degenerates, stop.
Please, stop outing your real kinks right here.
And so, while Haruka-chan and Rira-chan were dragged off by the other girls for a “thorough interrogation” about their fetishes, they headed out to their part-time jobs at Merchant Guild Katarina.
* * *
”Ane-sama. The arrangements are nearly complete.”
”I see. And our preparations for Takumi-sama’s classmates?”
”Yes. We’ve set up respectable front jobs for them.”
Marina and Ranka were deep in discussion inside the merchant guild’s president office. The chair behind the grand desk was, of course, left empty—for the beloved Takumi Nash.
”We’ll handle the things Takumi-sama might overlook.”
”Of course, Ane-sama. Honestly… being trusted to direct so much is such a joy.”
”Yes. By the way, is Morina almost finished with her cleanup?”
Right as Marina glanced at the door, a knock came on cue. The code rhythm checked out. She opened the door.
”I’m back, Mother.”
”Well done, Morina. Did you handle the cleanup?”
”Yes. Of the thirteen guild figures marked for secret assassination, eleven have been poisoned and disposed of. The last two are being kept half-dead in confinement—just in case they had revival registration.”
Morina reported like she was reading a grocery list, not describing mass murder. Marina nodded, satisfied, and wrapped her in a hug.
”Morina. Takumi-sama wished to spare you from such bloodshed.”
”Yes. He’s so gentle, as always.”
”This time, he has chosen to be ruthless. And so… we must be even more ruthless.”
”Of course. As Takumi-oniichan’s slave—and for McGaref above all—I’ve been ready to stain these hands from the start.”
She paused, thinking. That innocent expression had gotten her close enough to slip poison down countless throats.
”By the way, Mother… it seems we aren’t the only ones who kept our memories.”
”Ah. I’ve compiled that info. Ane-sama has it now. Apparently, only the women who held deep devotion to Takumi-sama kept their memories.”
”Only women, huh… that’s so like Takumi-sama.”
For the first time, all three of them laughed softly together—warm and proud that such loyal slaves existed at all.
”Confirm everyone’s memory status perfectly. If loyalty is the condition, then simply ordering them to keep quiet should be enough. If possible, take them in as Takumi-sama’s slaves, and seal their mouths with Enslavement Magic. That includes me, Ranka, Morina—no exceptions.”
”Of course, Mother. We won’t allow even the slightest flaw in Takumi-sama’s plan… well, aside from him being way too soft on women,” Morina said, smiling wryly as she remembered Natalie and Eileen, spared instead of executed.
”That’s exactly why it’s fine, Morina. That’s why I gave my life for him.”
”Yes. I was saved by Takumi-sama too, last time. By the way, Ane-sama—there are some captured war slaves who were loyal to him but not yet part of our merchant guild.”
”Let’s reach out, then. Ask them to keep secrets. Allies across nations would be invaluable.”
”If it goes like before, Merchant Guild Kinvale will explode in branches. We can make that our communication hub later.”
And so, through the quiet plotting of the talented, deeply devoted Katarina family, Takumi Nasu’s foothold grew steadily firmer.
Though among the women who had kept their memories… some still held more loyalty to their nations than to him. And their secret reports… would soon spark whispers that maybe, just maybe, a different future had once existed.
