Chapter 20 The Tale of a Hero – The Oath of ‘One’

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”Ahh… I’m… I’m there…!”

 ”No more… I can’t…!”

 ”Mmph! This is the best-degozaru!”

As the two maids caressed each other’s most intimate places, Taichi Nomura—one of the summoned heroes, gifted with the power of Analyzer—watched with rapt attention. His excitement surged, and he guided himself into one maid’s waiting mouth.

”Nn! Mmph! Ngh!” she gasped, her voice muffled as he pressed deeper, claiming the moment with fervor.

The other maid, not to be outdone, leaned in, her lips brushing against him in a daring exploration of his boundaries. “Mmph… slp, slp, slp…”

”Mff! Mmph!” Taichi let out a stifled cry, overwhelmed by the dual sensations. With a shift, he turned to the first maid, pressing himself into her core.

”Ah! Ohh! Master! Master!” she cried, her voice rising with each movement.

”Ahh! Ahn!” the other echoed, caught in the rhythm.

”Ohh… nnngh…!” Their gasps blended into a crescendo as Taichi released a rush of warmth within her. Sfft… As he withdrew, the second maid moved swiftly, her lips enveloping him in a tender, cleansing act.

 ”Slrp… chp…”

 ”Mmph… lck, lck…”

Their devoted service reignited his fire, and Taichi, unable to hold back, let his desire spill into the second maid’s mouth. The maids accepted him fully, continuing their care until they were certain the moment had passed. With a final, gentle touch, they cleaned him and left the room.

”Haa… that was incredible-degozaru… but so empty-degozaru,” Taichi muttered, alone on the bed. His Analyzer gift let him see the truth: these maids were slaves, bound to obey their masters’ every whim, including serving the “heroes” like him. He longed to keep them by his side until morning, but strict orders demanded their immediate departure after such acts.

When he pressed a tight-lipped maid for answers, she reluctantly shared a tale of a past hero who holed up with maids, shirking his duties entirely. Since then, restrictions were placed on even the heroes’ desires.

Taichi had no counterargument. Truth be told, he wanted to lock himself away in indulgence, just like that hero. “Guess it’s time to leave the palace-degozaru,” he sighed.

The allure of a carefree life in this otherworld, surrounded by affection, was too tempting to resist. Taichi, a self-proclaimed otaku, had devoured every isekai light novel, manga, and game he could find. He’d studied and memorized knowledge that might prove useful in another world—knowledge useless for school exams but, in his mind, far more valuable.

He’d always boasted it would serve him better than academic trivia, though deep down, he knew it was worthless in modern Japan. Admitting that would mean admitting he was a fool, and that he couldn’t do.

Yet now, his dreams had come true. He was in another world, no longer a virgin, and gifted with the Analyzer ability. During the gift inspection, he’d caught the soldiers stifling laughs, assuming his skill was useless. Taichi smirked at the memory. They thought him a failure, a hero with a “dud” skill. But he knew better.

Analyzer seemed trivial—useless in combat, incapable of healing, only good for appraising items. The guild had magical tools for that, rendering his gift “convenient at best, expendable at worst.” But Taichi saw its true potential. Unlike those tools, which could only appraise items and faltered with high-level artifacts, his skill could grow. With practice, he could analyze people, revealing their strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. He could uncover hidden artifacts mistaken for junk, buying them cheap and turning a profit.

In any world, information was power. Master Analyzer, and it would become the ultimate trump card. Taichi had no desire to fight or return to Japan. Demon Lord? Let someone else deal with it. His goal was to live easy, make money, buy slaves, and build a harem. He already had a plan—and it hinged on his friends, Ichiro Miyabe and Hajime Tanaka.

Ichiro’s Porter gift was perfect for trade. Taichi could identify valuable items, and Ichiro could carry them safely in vast quantities. Merchants’ caravans, laden with goods, screamed “rob me” to bandits. But a lone boy? No one would suspect he carried treasures. Of course, bandits might still target them for slavery, which is where Hajime came in.

Hajime’s Brawler gift made him a master of hand-to-hand combat, ideal for fighting multiple foes. With him as their guard, they’d be unstoppable. Just as Taichi needed them, they needed him. Ichiro could transport goods but lacked the savvy to know what was valuable. Without Taichi, he’d be a glorified pack mule. Hajime’s strength was unmatched, but Brawler wasn’t suited for party synergy, limiting his prospects as an adventurer. Together, though, their skills meshed perfectly.

Most importantly, Taichi, Ichiro, and Hajime were bound by the “Oath of One.” In their school’s backyard, as the sun set, they’d sworn an unbreakable vow: “Though born apart, we swear by the ‘One’ etched in our souls, declaring each other brothers. We will aid one another, never betray, and pray to end our lives on the same day, at the same hour!”

That bond, forged in their souls, was a treasure rarer than any in this world. It ensured loyalty, a trust Taichi could rely on forever.

”How’s it going-degozaru?” Taichi called out the next morning, spotting Ichiro during their daily exercises.

”Sleeping plenty, so I’m bursting with health-degozaru,” Ichiro replied with a grin.

”True that. Miss the days of three all-nighters for MMOs-degozaru,” Taichi laughed.

In this world, the first bell rang at 6 a.m., followed by bells every two hours. The fourth bell marked noon, the “midday first bell” was 2 p.m., and so on. The “night third bell” at 6 p.m. and “night fourth bell” at 8 p.m. made the system a bit convoluted, but Taichi was getting the hang of it.

The final bell of the day, ringing at 10 p.m., was known as the “End Bell.” Unless engaged in specialized trade, no shops remained open after this hour, and the town settled into a quiet night. The same held true for the mansion’s servants.

Those not assigned to the night shift ended their duties at the End Bell, meaning the maids Taichi summoned for nighttime companionship left promptly at 10 p.m.

After that, the mansion fell into darkness, with no light until the first morning bell. Alone in the pitch black, with little to do and exhausted from his earlier exertions with the maids, Taichi had fallen into a routine of deep sleep until morning.

”So?” Taichi prompted, glancing at Ichiro.

”Umu, all according to plan-degozaru,” Ichiro replied with a nod. “The day after tomorrow, Hajime-dono will head to town with Kimura-dono. We’ll accompany them.”

”Will we tell Kimura about our plan-degozaru?” Taichi asked, his voice low.

”Depends on the situation-degozaru,” Ichiro said thoughtfully. “But I’d love for Amatsuka-dono to join us-degozaru.”

”Yeah, Shizu-tan would be great to have on board-degozaru,” Taichi agreed with a grin.

”Speaking of Amatsuka-dono, haven’t seen that pretty boy around lately-degozaru,” Ichiro noted.

”Didn’t you hear-degozaru?” Taichi chuckled. “The other day, he got called ‘creepy’ right to his face by that princess. No way he’s showing up in public after that-degozaru.”

”Amatsuka-dono… fearsome as ever-degozaru,” Ichiro said, shaking his head.

”‘That’s what makes him great!’” they said in unison, flashing thumbs-up with enthusiastic grins.

”Left flank, your attacks are weak! What’s the hold-up?!” Kazuo’s voice boomed across the training field. Under his command, the group faced the castle’s guards in a mock battle, as real as any combat.

Joujirou Tsukamoto, gifted with Guardian’s Shield, held the center, blocking the guards’ advance. Kyoichi Kudo, wielding the Swordsman gift, slashed forward with precision. From a distance, Shizuka Amatsuka sniped a guard attempting to flank Kudo, making him flinch. Kotono Yukishiro followed with a burst of magic, shattering the enemy’s formation.

”Now! Kazuo, press the attack!” shouted Gou Kimura, the Ranger, as Hajime Tanaka, the Brawler, charged forward.

”No, hold back and regroup!” Kazuo countered, ordering the line to fall back. In the rear, Sumire Nozaki and Maria Tsukikage prepared to heal injured classmates. Meanwhile, Tsubasa Nisei (Creator), Haruka Hanasaki (Harvester), Taichi Nomura (Observer), and Ichiro Miyabe (Porter) had little to do, idly watching the training unfold.

”By the way, where’s Asagiri-dono-degozaru?” Ichiro asked, turning to Haruka.

”Dunno,” Haruka replied, stepping back slightly. It was a familiar reaction—back in Japan, girls often kept their distance from Ichiro, so he wasn’t fazed.

He glanced at Tsubasa. “Oh, um, Asagiri-san and the others are in their usual ‘special program,’” Tsubasa said with a bright smile. Ichiro’s heart skipped a beat, though he muttered under his breath, “Tsubasa’s a guy-degozaru…” to keep himself grounded.

Tsubasa, despite being male, had delicate, androgynous features that made him popular with both genders. During last year’s school festival, a prank led to him cross-dressing, sparking a flood of confessions from smitten boys.

Tsubasa, a casual otaku, got along with Ichiro and Taichi without prejudice, even joining their conversations. Ichiro sometimes wondered if he’d be okay with Tsubasa regardless of gender, but his devotion to his 2D waifu kept him from crossing that line.

”I see, the rare gift holders get special treatment-degozaru,” Taichi mused, nodding thoughtfully.

Ichiro leaned in, whispering, “Tomorrow night, we move.” Taichi gave a knowing thumbs-up, and the training session continued without incident.

”…And that’s the situation. Maya, are you listening?” Almea asked, her voice gentle but firm.

”Huh? Oh, yeah…” Maya replied, her tone dazed.

”You seem exhausted. Let’s take a break,” Almea said, pausing her lecture on the Almheim Kingdom’s challenges. Perhaps I pushed the ability too far, she thought, easing the effect of her gift, Fascinator. It allowed her to subtly manipulate those around her, bending their hearts to admire her—a form of mild brainwashing. The ability wasn’t instant and came with limitations, but once fully effective, it turned victims into obedient puppets, retaining their skills and judgment but bound to her will. A terrifyingly powerful gift.

Most in the castle were under Almea’s near-total control, with others partially influenced. Effectively, she ruled the kingdom from the shadows. For the past week, she’d been personally handling Maya and other rare gift holders, spending every moment with them under the guise of explaining the world. Her efforts were paying off—Maya, once wary and guarded, was starting to accept her words without question.

”Are you tired, Maya?” Almea asked, gently tilting Maya’s chin to face her.

”Not really… just feeling a bit out of it,” Maya mumbled.

”You shouldn’t push yourself,” Almea cooed, leaning closer, her lips brushing near Maya’s. Just before they touched, Maya snapped back to herself, eyes wide. “Ah! Um, sorry!” she yelped, bolting from the room.

”Mmph, I thought I had her,” Almea muttered, pouting. “Maybe I rushed it.”

Her Fascinator ability’s second stage involved a kiss—any kiss, from lips to a hand or forehead—sealing her control. Once reached, the target became almost incapable of resistance, completing the brainwashing.

Further stages deepened the hold but dulled the victim’s judgment, making them less useful as pawns. Among the heroes, Almea had already ensnared Sayaka Kitahara, whom she’d sent north on a “special mission” to avoid suspicion. Maya was starting to waver, but Miyako Negishi’s strong-willed gift made her resistant, slowing Almea’s progress.

”I didn’t mean to rush,” Almea sighed, mocking herself. Her impatience stemmed from the kingdom’s precarious situation. The eastern Mizgarz region, home to Almheim and other human nations, was relatively safe. Almheim, a smaller kingdom, was bordered by the demonic Forest of Shadows to the west and cliffs to the south and east, with only the north and northeast open to neighboring lands.

A buffer of neutral city-states and villages further insulated it from invasion, allowing a peaceful existence. But in recent years, the Forest of Shadows had grown restless, with demons and monsters spilling into the northern wilds. Worse, the northern Brynhildr Empire had begun a southward campaign under the guise of demon-slaying, its true aim to dominate Almheim and its neighbors.

The final bell of the day, rung at 10 p.m., was called the “End Bell.” Unless someone ran a special business, no shops remained open after it, and the town quietly settled into the night. The same applied to the servants in the mansion—anyone not on night duty ended their work with the bell. Consequently, the maids Taichi had called for the evening retired promptly at ten.

After that, there was no light, and the mansion remained pitch-dark until the morning bell. With so little to do in complete darkness, and exhausted from their evening activities, Taichi and the others usually fell straight into a deep sleep, waking only with the morning light.
