Chapter 207 Interlude – The Autonomous Territory of Nathia

 Ayumu stepped into the homeland of Alma and Elma, eager to explore the autonomous territory of the Skyrunners, Nathia.

 Here, like Alma and Elma, lived humans adorned with wings, the Skyrunners. Unlike the elves of other lands, these winged folk were remarkably tolerant of outsiders, offering a rare breath of warmth to travelers.

 Yet a question had lingered in Ayumu’s mind: how did Skyrunners reproduce?

 According to the Skyrunners themselves, they were monotreme-like in egg-laying, but, unlike birds, their reproductive organs were separated by sex, much like mammals. During their ovulation period, intercourse led to egg-laying, and the eggs hatched into infants who were then nurtured with breast milk, as human mothers do. (Hence, Skyrunner women appeared remarkably fertile and capable of childbirth.)

 In other words, the males and females did not feed their young via beak-to-mouth like pigeons…

 (Ayumu’s thoughts ventured further: that meant a Skyrunner woman’s breasts were functional, not mere adornment…)

 After listening to the Skyrunner men explain their reproductive process, Ayumu’s expression became the most serious it had ever been, reflecting a mix of astonishment and intense contemplation.
