Chapter 9 Event Skip
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
’What happened to the entrance ceremony and the party? They’re canceled, none of that nonsense—now then, let the self-training speedrun begin!’
The instant I returned to my dorm room after questioning, that hateful, bizarre voice echoed inside my head, making my molars grind tight.
Today should’ve been the entrance ceremony and the welcome party for new students. But instead, a girl was found collapsed and broken near the boys’ dorm—her mind shattered, her body weak. Of course, everything got canceled.
’Fufufu… by making sure Riza was discovered on entrance day, we skip all the bothersome events—the ceremony, the party, even the meet-up with the Grand Duke’s son who governs this academy city!’
At first, I couldn’t understand why the suppression sorcery only lasted three days. Now I see—this was the plan all along.
She hurt her roommate and then, as a result, ended up a pitiful wreck. Using her like a stage prop, they got exactly what they wanted.
It’s almost funny—so efficient, so cold, like someone with no human heart.
’Usually, events might be canceled randomly by chance, but adjusting the odds is annoying, right? So why not cause the incident yourself! Genius move! Turn event skipping into setup for the next skip—this would make any efficiency maniac smile.’
I ruined someone’s whole life just to suit myself. I’ve killed people before, so maybe it’s too late to act shocked—but no, I’ll never get used to it.
That feeling—crushing bones, snapping teeth, smashing flesh. The sticky warmth clings to my hands, never washing off.
’Now, now—time to train your blessing, Evolution, to the fullest, free from anyone who dares get in the way!’
As it said that, my body moved on its own. My hand lifted—and I heard my own finger snap.
”――Ahhh!?!!”
’Your blessing, Evolution, grows when thrown into hardship. It learns, adapts, and reshapes your body to survive better each time.’
I had never known real pain before. I’d hurt others, yes, but my body never paid the price. Because when fights began, the voice always took control, moving me like a puppet—and it knew this body better than I ever did.
’If we were in the dojo, Silver Blood or Cliff would stop us. But here in the dorm, we can hurt ourselves as much as we want!’
Just one broken finger made me drop to my knees, tears spilling. Everyone I killed… they must’ve felt far worse. The guilt I’d only pretended to feel now pressed on me, sharp and real.
How pathetic I’d been—apologizing to Riza with half-hearted regret. The thought made me want to vomit.
’I’d prefer harsher conditions, but it’s not time yet. Let’s boost endurance and natural healing power through Evolution for now!’
Through blurred vision, I watched the broken finger slowly mend itself—like time winding backward.
”Ahh—!”
And still, that single motion burned with unbearable pain. I twisted and gasped.
”Ha… ha…!”
’Half healed? Then break it again!’
”――!!”
Again and again—I shattered it as it mended. The flesh bruised dark, bones grinding, nerves screaming. Each time I blacked out, pain dragged me back awake. Time stretched, every second heavier, crueler. The more I wished it over, the slower it crawled.
’Alrighty, five hundred more breaks today!’
…It was hell.

”…You’re looking dull today.”
”…”
First day back after the Riza case closed. I lay slumped on my desk, pretending to sleep when Cliff’s gentle voice brushed against me.
He didn’t even need to see me—he could tell how broken I felt. His hand smoothed my hair like I was something fragile, and I hated it.
’As if it’s his right to pat a woman’s head. Damn handsome guys and their easy charm,’ the voice sneered inside me.
He really is handsome—too much for someone like me. He should hang out with Lucia, always cheerful, or his childhood friend Gerard. Not me. People who get close to me only end up miserable.
”…I told you not to talk to me.”
”Because I’ll die?”
”…”
Even though he came early to avoid the crowd, he still ended up here, same time as me. He could’ve just walked with Gerard instead.
Nothing good comes from being near me. I broke a person, then used their broken body to wreck a ceremony. I spread nothing but misfortune.
”I won’t die until I surpass my old man.”
”….”
”…One day, tell me the truth.”
I can’t. I’ll never be able to. Even if the curse lifted, I’ve already destroyed too many lives.
”…ngh.”
I’m the worst kind of sinner—but what scares me most is… being hated when he learns the truth. It’s pathetic. I act like I want to be despised, push him away with cruel words—but still, I cling to his kindness.
”…Shut up… just, don’t talk to me…”
”…Alright.”
That’s how it should be. The voice would never allow me to grow close to anyone.
’Idiot! Baldy! You’re the enemy of all runners who try to trigger events! Homochan has an important job—grinding XP through self-torture!’
No matter what happens, the voice never reads the mood. It doesn’t care how I feel—it only demands action and results.
”…Someone… please… help me…”
After hundreds of broken bones, my heart was scraped thin, ready to shatter. The words slipped out—barely a whisper, too weak for anyone to hear.
”…”
Even though I don’t deserve to be saved.
And yet—I still begged.

Pitiful is cute. Cute is justice. So a pitiful, worn-down protagonist… must be justice itself.
