Chapter 123 Toward the Goodbye That Will Come One Day

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

A *saint (blessed one)* is a person who is given power from a *God* and gains great strength and an endless life. Different groups have their own rules for saints, but it should not be something people can make by hand.

”My existence rose to a higher level when I was given the ‘egg’ by my *master* and placed it in my chest,” Dahlia said in her calm voice. “After that, I could link more strongly with the *Machine God (machine deity)*. My body became a vessel that can hold its holy power, so I gained even greater grace.”

”…So that means you became a saint?” I asked.

”Yes,” Dahlia said with a small nod. “I can now make a *magic device (enchanted tool)* stronger, and it is harder for me to die. These are gifts from the Machine God. The master’s ‘egg’ still works because the Machine God changed my body to fit it.”

She spoke in a steady way, as if she felt nothing. But after spending so much time with her, I knew it was the opposite. She was holding down strong feelings inside.

”Wait… is that why you are so bad at getting up in the morning?” I asked.

”That is from the start. The Machine God talks to me in my dreams, but we only speak all night about how wonderful the master’s magic device is,” she answered.

”What are you doing with a God?” I said.

”Also, the Machine God wants a *child* with master, so most nights we hold a plan meeting,” she added.

”What is your God even doing?” I asked, feeling my head begin to hurt.

The mood broke at once, and her words were too strange. And she was not even trying to stop it—she agreed with the idea.

She then spoke again in a softer moment. “The reason I wish to use my core for this *magic sword (enchanted sword)* is because, after master passes away, it may become impossible to take good care of it.”

Her reason for choosing a magic sword came out during this light talk. She was thinking of a time in the near future when Heimatzähnrad might break, and she wanted to be ready.

”This magic sword has a simple build so it can hold and keep my *mana*,” she said. “That makes it hard to break and easy to care for. Even if all of master’s Equipment I carry breaks, this sword will still have a good chance to be repaired. So… I wish to place my core in this sword.”

She was preparing for the time when my skill would not be passed on. I did not think she had thought this far.

”I did think of another plan, but master would not help with that one, so I dropped it,” she said.

”I have a bad feeling… what was it?” I asked.

”To make a *child* with master and teach them your Crafting with full force,” she said quite simply.

”No. I’m not making a child only for that,” I said.

”A child with master may teach me ‘happiness’…” she whispered.

”Crying will not work on me,” I said.

 ”That is sad,” she replied.

She said it so smoothly, but I could tell she truly wanted a child with me in some way. I am not a man worthy of that kind of feeling from her.

”So please use my core to make this magic sword stronger,” Dahlia said.

”…Yeah. With that reason, I can’t say no,” I answered.

We had found some *orichalcum (rare metal)* in this exploration, so I did not mind doing an upgrade.

(…That is a little sad as a reason.)

”Wah!?” I yelled as a voice spoke behind me.

”I felt a new being appear… I have seen this one before. Name: ‘Chef’. I also feel another of the same type and power,” Dahlia said.

I turned and saw, just as she said, *Chef* holding her floppy cat plush. But beside her stood someone I knew from looks, yet did not know in this world.

This new one had black hair and wings that matched. Her eyes hid behind glasses, so I could not see their color, but that was normal for her character. She was taller than the average woman, closer to a man’s height, but her chest was a bit smaller than average. In the “poster girl” line-up she was the second to appear, the second sister. She could not cook at all, but she could clean any old house until it looked new in one day. A cleaning genius.

(It is an honor to meet you for the first time, Tatara-sama, she spoke in my mind. *I am this child’s older sister… Please call me *Seisouchou (cleaning head)* for now, as I cannot give my true name.*)

”Nice to meet you, Seisouchou-san. And I’m *Tatara*, not ‘Tarashi’,” I said.

She had gotten my name wrong so naturally. Chef looked at me, then back at her sister.

(…His name is different, Chef said.)

(But he is the one who tempts my dear sister, Chef’s sister replied.)

 (Then ‘Tarashi’ fits, she said.)

”I never tempted an *Archangel*,” I said at once.

They did a full comedy act right in front of me. In the game, players only saw the hero’s thoughts and not their voices, so I never knew how funny their talk was. I kind of wish I still did not know.

”Master, what is this new danger that may steal my maid role?” Dahlia asked.

”No danger. Chef and Archangel met before, right? This one is their middle sister,” I said.

”As always, only master can hear them. Strange as ever,” Dahlia said.

So Dahlia still could not hear them. It felt strange.

”So, Chef. Why did you say Dahlia’s reason was sad?” I asked.

(Hmm, polite speech…) Chef puffed her cheeks.

”Sorry. Why sad?” I asked again in my normal tone.

At once, Seisouchou gave Chef a sharp look. Her eyes were open now—both bright green like her sister’s. First time I had seen that.

(That girl asked you to do that because she is thinking of your goodbye, Tatara-san. She plans to hold that sword like a keepsake after you are gone. That is a sad reason, Seisouchou said.)

”…Even so, Chef,” I said. “We humans all die one day. From age, sickness… or an accident or war.”

All things that begin must end. That is true for people, gods, even worlds. Chef did not get it, but Seisouchou seemed to understand.

If a goodbye will come early or late, then being ready is… maybe even the Archangel would agree with that.

(…But Tatara-san, I thought you cannot die even if killed?) Chef asked.

”No, I can die. I almost died today,” I said.

(Oh, a joke again…) she giggled.

”No joke. I fought the ‘Immortal King’, a vampire king, and he tore open my stomach. I could have died,” I said.

Chef’s smile froze. Then tears rose. She dropped her plush and rushed to me.

(No! Are you okay, Tatara-san!?) she cried.

”Calm down, Chef. If I was not okay, I would not be here,” I said.

(No no no, don’t die!) she sobbed.

She was truly scared. She kept touching me, checking my body, even tried to pull my clothes off to check for wounds. She was too strong to hold back.

 ”Please calm down!” I said.

 (No… Tatara-san… nooo!) she wailed.

 (Calm yourself!) Seisouchou shouted.

 (Fugyu!?)

A paper fan smacked the back of Chef’s head. For a moment I thought Archangel had arrived, but it was Seisouchou holding the fan, standing in a perfect pose after the strike.

(…Borrowing my sister’s sword had a use after all, she said.)

”That belongs to Archangel…?” I asked.

(Normally I cannot use it, but my sister’s affection lets me do so.)

 (Uu… that hurt…) Chef sniffed.

”Master, I cannot hear their words, so it is a silent play to me,” Dahlia said. “Also, why are we talking about you almost dying? This is the first I hear of it.”

Right. I had forgotten to tell Dahlia about today.

”I’ll explain everything from after school,” I said.

I talked about our whole exploration. As I spoke, Dahlia and Chef both grew pale. I did not know Dahlia’s face could change color.

When I finished, Seisouchou gently patted my head.

(You work very hard, Tarashi-sama, she said.)

”Please don’t make more work by saying my name wrong,” I said.

Forgive me, I slipped, she said.

”You did something like this before, so I’ll ignore it… anyway, I can die too. So I think it’s normal for Dahlia to think about a keepsake. I don’t have the right to live forever, and people have a life span, Chef,” I said.

 (But…!) Chef’s voice trembled.

I never thought a *poster girl* would care for a person this much. How should I calm her down? I looked around and saw the cat plush on the floor.

”Look, it’s your friend, right? Don’t leave it there. It will feel sad,” I said.

I picked up the plush and held it out to her. It seemed to be her new favorite, so I wanted her to treat it with care.

 (…Okay, ) she whispered.

”If I die one day, that plush will be one of your keepsakes too. So don’t be rough with it.”

 (…Okay.)

She hugged the plush tight, almost too tight, and I began to worry again. Still, why had they come here today?

(Then, Tarashi-sama. Shall we speak of our business now?) Seisouchou asked.

”Dahlia spoke first, so I should finish with her…”

(No. I believe our matter should come first. It will likely help you both more, ) she said.

I looked at *Seisouchou* with doubt.

”…Master, please hear them first,” Dahlia said.

 ”No, yours should be first.”

”No, Master. I cannot explain why, but I feel their request will be better for us if heard first.”

When Dahlia said that, I could not push more. I let out a long breath and faced Seisouchou.

”All right. Since Dahlia says so, I’ll hear your request.”

(Yes. Please strengthen this, ) she said.

She offered me a spear. It was about two meters long. The black head held a gold blade. At the base, there was a black wing design, then a red shaft with a gold tip. The second *poster girl*—Seisouchou—used a spear… well, it was usually a broom, but in weapon form it became a spear. I remembered this one from Beyond the Deep Darkness. It was her final weapon. The design was too eye-catching to forget.

”Even if I try to upgrade it… what am I supposed to do with a spear already this complete?”

(I saw my younger sister’s Arcane Armor. It was wonderful. So I ask for a cleaning tool just as strong, ) she said.

”You show me a spear and ask for a cleaning tool? That makes no sense.”

 What did she expect?

If she wanted a new cleaning tool, I could build one from scratch. I even had spare wind *core stones* to keep a strong pull for a vacuum. Why did her idea have to fly so far?

(Sorry. My older sister is a bit… natural, ) Chef said.

”I really don’t get it. Please explain, little sister.”

(…I don’t get it either, ) Chef admitted.

 You too?

 (Why the confusion?) Seisouchou asked.

”You jumped from spear to cleaning tool with no steps at all. That’s impossible.”

(Why would I change a spear into a cleaning tool?) she asked.

”Because you handed me a spear and said, ‘Please make a cleaning tool.’ What else was I supposed to think?”

 (…Ah.)

Her rhythm was hard to follow. I could not tell what she meant half the time.

(You cannot turn a spear into a cleaning tool. A spear is a spear, and a cleaning tool is a cleaning tool.)

’Then don’t act in such a confusing way!?’

Chef and I shouted at the same time. I didn’t know if Seisouchou was “natural” or if this was something else.

”Well, I understand you want both a spear upgrade and a cleaning tool made… but how do you want the spear to be stronger?”

The shaft looked like wood, but it was most likely bone. Judging from the length, maybe from a dragon’s front leg. I did not have that material. The spearhead seemed to be black *adamantite* with *orichalcum* mixed in to form the gold edge. The butt end was pure orichalcum.

(Just do something crazy like always, ) Chef said.

”Please don’t act like I break common sense every time.”

”Master,” Dahlia said, “I cannot hear your whole talk, but making a golem speak and turning monster weapons into new things is already crazy.”

”How do you know the topic when you can’t hear them?” I asked.

How did Dahlia guess Chef’s words?

(…A golem that talks?) Seisouchou repeated.

”Ah, right. Maybe there’s a reason. I guess I should show them. One moment.”

I called the leader of the *TataraGolem* group from my inventory and set it in front of Chef and Seisouchou.

 ”Go on, say hello.”

 ”Ta—!”

(Golems speak these days?) Seisouchou asked softly.

Her reaction was weak, but I had a feeling she was screaming inside. No idea why, but that was the impression.

Chef, on the other hand, froze when she saw the TataraGolem. She shook, then jumped in and hugged it tight.

(This one—I’m taking it home!) she cried.

”No way. Even if it looks cute, that’s still a mini version of me. What are you thinking?”

Chef tried to run off with the golem while I stopped her with a calm tsukkomi. The golem wriggled and tried to escape, but Chef was too strong.

 ”Ta—ra—!” the golem cried.

”Master, he really hates it,” Dahlia said.

”I can see that… but why?”

Chef liked me enough, so why did the golem—which copied my feelings—reject her? …Maybe it didn’t want to leave Ethelena’s side?

Either way, I had a backup plan for moments like this.

”Chef, I’ll give you this if you let the golem go.”

 (Feh?)

I pulled out a Tatara doll from my inventory. Chef froze and stared at it. As she stared, her grip on the golem weakened, and it ran behind me to hide. Was it really a golem?

”Give up on the golem, okay?”

 (…Okay.)

Chef hugged the Tatara doll in place of the cat plush—very tight. At least she calmed down.

”So, about this spear upgrade… what do you want exactly?”

(Let’s see… I want many elements, and I want it to change to the best one for the enemy’s weakness, ) Seisouchou said.

 ”Are you crazy?”

What kind of wild weapon was that? There was a similar “strongest weapon” in another game.

 (Is it impossible?)

”If I have enough *core stones*, I might have an idea.”

”You do have an idea then, Master,” Dahlia said at once.

She caught my words fast. I truly did have one idea. If I placed many core stones inside and made a spell formula to switch to the opposite element, like how a tuning fork reacts to sound… maybe. But there was no model for it yet.

(Then please use these materials, ) Seisouchou said.

She gave me fire, water, earth, and wind core stones, plus two *Soul Cores*—one from an Angel race, one from a night-shadow being—and several kinds of *magic metal*. There was no lightning or ice, but those were mixed types, so this was closer to the true six elements. I checked the amount. It was enough to build a whole new spear from scratch.

”I need to check something. Would it be better to make a new spear instead of upgrading this one?”

(If you can, please keep the old one too.)

Hmm. Then I would make a new one. Also, I wanted to try asking for one more thing.

”If possible, could I have a few of your feathers?”

 (Very well.)

Without thinking twice, Seisouchou stroked her wings and pulled out ten feathers.

 (Will this be enough?)

”Yes, more than enough… and the color is beautiful, by the way.”

 (Tarashi.)

 ”Eh!?”

I only spoke my honest thought about the feathers, yet she insulted me again. Chef nodded as if to back her up.

I held onto that confusing feeling and walked into the forge room. Dahlia and the two *poster girls* followed to watch.

I lit the fire and moved the *mana* through the forge. Someday, if I gained a Spirit King’s core stone, I could upgrade all the equipment here. With that thought, I began work. First, I mixed mithril and orichalcum for the spearhead and used *Seisouchou*’s feathers to strengthen the *adamantite*. It was easier than working with a god core piece, but still very hard to shape the magic metal.

I wrapped mithril thread around orichalcum, pressed it between *adamantite*, and placed it into the forge. While it heated, I used Concept Appraisal and waited for the metal to turn red. I hammered and stretched it, then cooled and split it in water. When the metals separated by hardness, I joined them again with forge welding.

Next, I separated the core steel from the outer iron, fixed them lightly to check the balance, then heated for the real forging. The hammer my old *Master* gave me still struck true. With each hit, I removed slag and extra *mana*, making the metal better.

When the piece became one, I began the real training. I folded it again and again with a cross pattern to make it strong. Once the core and outer iron were done, I shaped the blade. I changed the katana method a bit to make a double-edged spearhead. I set the core between two blade steels and outer iron, then hammered it long and thin.

Spearheads were different from swords, but this one ended a little longer than normal. I shaped it in the fire, put on clay, and quenched it. After cooling, I broke off the clay. A black blade appeared.

I finished the shape, carved the mark and date, then sharpened it. The blade shone quietly like the moon in a night sky, not gold or silver, but a moon color. The black steel beside it looked like night, which made the glow feel stronger.

Now came the part to show my skills as a crafter. I built the base of the spear as a *magic device*. The idea was a spell inside the base that reads the enemy’s element when the blade touches them, then pulls out the best opposite element.

An enemy’s element is the wavelength of their *mana*. If you hit it with a wave in the opposite phase, it cancels. That is the root of element weakness. If the core stones send an opposite phase wave, the spear will strike the weak point… if it works.

The base became a bit bigger. I placed the refined core stones and the two Soul Cores in a six-point star. A ring linked the star, and I built the spell so the opposite element would react when one element resonated. Dahlia watched the build with bright, shining eyes.

For the shaft, I used an adamantite core, wrapped it in mithril thread, and covered it with orichalcum. I carved small lines on the grip to stop slipping, added the butt piece, and the spear was done.

 ”Whew… it’s finished,” I said.

(Yes, I saw all of it, ) Seisouchou replied.

I handed her the spear. She took it with care, tested the balance, and her lips curved into a small smile.

(A fine spear. What is its name?)

”I didn’t think of one. Name it as you like.”

 (Isn’t that too lazy?)

”I’m bad at naming. It’s better if the user chooses.”

Seisouchou looked half tired, half giving up. Did she really want me to name it?

(But you named my sister’s Arcane Armor.)

”That one ended with three sounds that were almost the same.”

(I liked it. It sounded like a hero king or a strong god of destruction.)

Was she teasing me on purpose?

 (Nothing comes to mind?)

”Well, the blade looks like the moon, so I thought of ‘Moonlight Yellow’, but that sounds too long.”

 (Then ‘Moonlight’.)

 ”You’re fine with that?”

(Or choose another name about the moon.)

I felt a little pushed, but the word “moon” made one idea pop up.

 ”…How about *Seventh Moon*?”

The name came from a song in an old space fortress anime. The guitar was amazing. I liked the “Plus” one more, but the white princess from that series was my top favorite.

(I see. It changes through seven elements including physical, so Seventh Moon fits well. Clever.)

Seisouchou put the new spear into her inventory. I would not tell her I did not think that deeply.

”Next is the cleaning tool and… should I make the figure now too?”

(Please make the figure when my older sister is here.)

Then I would start with the cleaning tool. I wanted to recreate a cyclone vacuum from my past life using a wind core stone.

I made the body with mithril to keep it light. For power, I copied the spell formula from my Arcane Armor’s movement. I made the filter from mithril I had strengthened with a god core piece, folded many times. I used the “purify” spell, usually for water, on the air output to make it clean.

I added a T-shaped nozzle with a carpet brush at the bottom. That finished it. I hoped she liked it.

 (There is no charging cord?)

”It pulls a little *mana* from the user while running and circles it inside to power the spell. The core stone uses a bit too, but for you, it should be very small.”

To check my words, Seisouchou turned it on. The pull could change with *mana* control, and a soundproof spell made it very quiet. The dust tank held three liters, and the body weighed only 800 grams.

There was one problem: it was dangerous for anyone without good mana control. The core stone made a small fake tornado inside the tank. If someone used full power by mistake, they could be spun around for real. They might even fly.

I explained the dust box too, and she seemed happy. The request was done. The series name was “Twister Cleaning Tool”. Just safe enough, I guess.

(You made something far better than I imagined, so I must give a big reward.)

 ”No, you don’t have to—”

 (A big! Reward!)

 Ah. I made her stubborn.

(Then I will give you materials that will help with your own upgrades. Here.)

”…Three kilos of orichalcum and two kilos of adamantite? Isn’t that too much?”

(Your values and ours are different. I see that much value in this cleaning tool. Please accept it.)

If I refused more, she would likely add even more. Better to take it.

(I am very happy with the items today.)

”You will ask for brooms, dustpans, feather dusters, and floor wipers next, won’t you?”

(Tell me more about this ‘floor wiper’.)

 (Big sister, we’re going home.)

Seisouchou went from smiling to serious and tried to rush at me to ask more, but Chef held her back.

(Well then, Tatara-san, we will go now… Big sister, stop struggling!)

(Move. I still need a new cleaning tool—)

Before she could finish, Chef dragged Seisouchou away. What a mess.

Now I had made weapons for three of the four *poster girls*. Would the last one, the *Baito-chou*, visit too?

She would. For a figure request, I was sure.

”They were noisy even though I couldn’t hear them, Master,” Dahlia said.

”Don’t say that. I heard everything.”

Dahlia and I sighed together, then I turned to her again.

”Dahlia, your wish is for a magic device that won’t break and is easy to care for, right?”

 ”Yes. That is correct.”

 ”Got it.”

I chose to make the core with orichalcum. But Dahlia’s core stone did not have enough output to strengthen it well. I called Dahlia closer to test something.

”Sorry, let me borrow some *mana*.”

”I do not mind, but how?”

”By using a form of the *Sex Sorcery* technique.”

After she agreed, I used Energy Drain to take mana from her. I did not mix it with mine, but sent it straight to her core. Soon, our mana affected each other and her core output rose. It was a sudden test, but it worked.

”Master, what was that just now?” Dahlia asked.

”It had a fifty–fifty chance to work, but it did. I sent your mana into your core to make it match better and raise the output. Now we can reach the goal.”

Using the boosted core output, I first strengthened 500g of orichalcum. The result was *Darihalcon*—Dahlia’s own orichalcum—used as the core steel of her sword. I used mithril for the inner mechanism and grip, and adamantite for the outer frame. It would be about the size of a normal sword, but able to form a *Mana Blade*. My image for it was a certain space pirate’s third unit equipped with fifteen beam sabers and a cannon—bearing the name of a mythical ghost katana—but unlike that, this sword wouldn’t need a separate mechanism to generate the blade.

The concept: even if the Mana Blade function breaks, this new *magic sword* will still work as a physical weapon. As long as the core steel is Darihalcon, and as long as it responds to Dahlia’s mind, it will keep growing stronger.

”…I understand the idea, but Master, if it breaks… then what?”

Dahlia looked troubled after hearing the explanation. She chose this design for easy maintenance and ended up with something that ignored reproducibility entirely.

 ”Well, in that case…”

I thought for a bit, then joked:

”Come find me. I’ll probably be reborn somewhere in this world.”

Sure, I made it once, so maybe I could again. It was only hopeful thinking, but this world had reincarnation cases, so it wasn’t impossible.

Though realistically, an Archangel might take my soul back.

”…Strange. It’s an optimistic line not like you, Master—but I like it,” Dahlia said with a soft smile.

Her tension faded, and with that, mine too. I could work with a clear mind now—perfect for crafting.

 ”Master, I have one request.”

Just as I was about to start, Dahlia spoke.

”Even if it loses its Mana Blade function… please forge it with your full strength.”

Even though Dahlia loved magic devices, she still asked for my full effort even if it meant losing that function. It felt odd… but it fired me up more.

My teacher said only one blacksmithing a day, but if I missed this perfect state of mind, I knew I wouldn’t make Dahlia’s best weapon. And honestly—I wanted to do it. A magic sword using my teacher’s techniques. If I was called the best crafter in this city, I needed to live up to it.

I followed katana forging steps but added changes.

I did the normal forging until shaping. At the core, I placed the Darihalcon, wrapped mithril around it, then outer iron, then a ridge of adamantite. The blade steel was mithril as well.

This structure—with layers around the core—made Dahlia’s mana travel more easily into the Darihalcon. Mithril was normally the weakest magic metal, but as a catalyst for Mana Blades, it excelled. The Darihalcon core would respond to Dahlia’s mind and increase attack power. That was my idea for Dahlia’s new sword.

I didn’t think Dahlia could use katana techniques, but she said she would learn by watching, so I put my all into crafting it. To make it a magic sword, I carved the spell formulas during shaping.

While forging, I checked with *Concept Appraisal* and adjusted the spells with *Crafting*. When finished, the sword had a refined katana form.

After adding guard and grip, I handed it to Dahlia. She hugged it gently. It seemed it couldn’t harm her body, as if her own defense blocked it.

As expected, *Appraisal* couldn’t read the name or stats. Another new magic device.

 ”It feels warm,” Dahlia said.

”Of course. It’s a sword meant to stay by your side.”

I didn’t mention it was warm because it was freshly made. This sword was for Dahlia—staying close would naturally feel warm.

”Master, you still don’t have a name for it, do you?”

 ”Nope. Nothing comes to mind.”

She must still remember the naming issue from Seisouchou’s spear. But really, I was bad at naming.

”Then, if I may… I will call this sword *Forl Julon*.”

I wanted to comment on the name, but it was probably meaningful to her—maybe so she would never forget, or so she could find it if lost.

”Well then, can you test *Forl Julon* for me?”

”I’m sorry, Master. I do not recommend testing it here.”

She refused—Dahlia, the magic device lover, refused. That meant it might be uncontrollable.

”I suggest requesting permission from the *City Mayor* for testing outside the city. The output of Forl Julon is far beyond previous magic devices.”

…Why did that sound like a threat?

 ”How strong is this thing?”

”Can’t you check with Appraisal, Master?”

”I can see the name, but not the performance. It’s treated as a completely new magic device.”

I was used to that. Dahlia touched her chin, thought, then nodded.

”At maximum output and continuous use… the backlash will destroy half the city.”

 ”You must be joking.”

What kind of power or attack strength did this sword have? It didn’t hurt Dahlia, so the issue must be the Mana Blade.

”It works like Okusama’s Mana Gun, but since I’m a *Saint*, the output is on a different level. If I use it without control, the Mana Blade will keep expanding and keep firing mana.”

 ”That’s actually terrifying.”

What was this, a legendary giant that could cut planets? Even if not that strong, a sword meant to cut evil turning into a sword that slices worlds was bad.

”So I am training to keep the mana in the shape of a blade.”

”…I’ll send a letter to the City Mayor later.”

I braced myself for the scolding. How did it become this dangerous?

After Dahlia returned to her room, I wrote letters to the *City Mayor* and the *merchant guild leader*. For the mayor, I reported the *Immortal King*, the *Magic Spear Valachia*, and Dahlia’s *Forl Julon*. For the guild leader, I introduced Est and Shamir. For both letters, I wrote that after 9 PM, I would no longer accept next-day job requests.

I would still help in the city, but mainly for people I was close with. I also wanted to explore when free to train myself. Honestly, without that Immortal King encounter, I think I would have gained one more level. And I wanted to finish Valachia’s completed form. If I didn’t, the next Immortal King encounter would be hell.

After finishing, I called Cipher to deliver the letters. It chirped happily and flew off. Once done, I turned around.

”I figured you’d show up about now.”

The intruder entered silently, no sound, no sign. After hearing my words, their wings twitched slightly.

Notes:

• Dahlia – The automaton.

• Cipher – Tatara’s familiar, sent to guard Tatia.
