Chapter 27 Magic Eye Transplant

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I was mentally broken. I had killed Haruka’s mother, and then Haruka himself was brutally murdered by many knights because I said too much.

Most who aspire to be knights are either gathered to fight demons or harbor personal grudges against them. The eyes of the knights who rushed in were filled with hatred and disgust toward Haruka.

There was no mercy in their attack on a single child, and Haruka never fought back on his own until the very end.

He desperately shook his crushed throat, offering me a poorly made, forced smile as if to reassure me, and reached out his hand… and then he stopped moving.

Until the very end, both mother and child tried to reassure me with smiles. The woman, rotating 180 degrees with a smile on her face, and the boy, lynched while smiling.

Their final moments repeated endlessly in my head. I had no strength left to think. I simply finished the knights’ questioning as the voice instructed.

’Well, well, it’s time for the long-awaited magic eye transplant~

The voice showed no consideration for my exhausted body and mind. As soon as I returned to my dorm room, it urged me to act.

However, I had no idea how to perform a transplant, nor did I have the energy to research or think about it.

Standing there in a daze for so long must have been the problem—the voice’s impatient presence intruded from within.

’First, you will remove your own eyes.

 ”—Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!????”

It hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned, it hurt, it burned—

 ’Don’t thrash… don’t thrash…

The sensation was like a heated iron rod being thrust in. My consciousness, which had been somewhat hazy, snapped awake.

My fingers pushed deep behind my eyelids. I writhed in agony as they dug into the inside of my forehead, stirring within the eye sockets and destroying the tissue.

Moving my index and middle fingers, I pushed through flesh, blood vessels, and nerves, delving deeper and deeper. I tore away some fibrous tissue clinging to the back of the eyeball.

With a wet squelching sound, I clamped the eyeball between my two fingers. Grinding away the surrounding flesh, I dug it out, meeting my thumb on my lower eyelid.

 ”Aah, gah… ah, huu… oh, ah…!!”

I could see nothing… I felt only heat.

Even though I shouldn’t be able to see, my vision seemed to be dyed crimson.

My brain was mistaking the pain and heat for the color red.

’Seriously, that’s enough (lol). You’ve experienced plenty of pain already, haven’t you? Time to get used to it? (lost laugh)

The intense pain caused my consciousness to fade, only for the pain to jolt me awake again. This cycle repeated multiple times within seconds.

I felt as if dazzling lights were flashing on and off inside my head.

’Oh, Homo-chan, you’re so dramatic~! No matter how much you play the victim, Mommy won’t know! Naughty!

 ”Au, ka… aa…”

I felt a surge of anger. It was so pathetic, so infuriating.

Haruka endured this pain, yet he still reached out to me, worried about my well-being… Why was I so weak?

’Then, before regeneration begins, shove Haruka-kyun’s magic eye into the empty socket—shuuu!! Super! Exciting!!

Squish, squelch… Even without sight, my hands accurately selected Haruka’s magic eye.

Discarding what used to be my own eye, I pushed the retrieved magic eye into the empty socket.

 ”Fu, ah…! Agah, fu… oa…!!”

’This way, the regeneration gained through Evolution will mistake it for your own eye and connect. However, there are disadvantages—

 ”Agah…?! Ga, koa…!!”

With a sizzling sound, splashes erupted from the socket that had accepted the foreign object… Was the direction wrong? The eyeball spun and rotated repeatedly inside.

’Humans and demons differ in everything from blood type onwards, so you’ll normally suffer from sepsis or rejection.

 ”—”

Something indescribable coursed through my entire body from both eyes—fine capillaries felt as if they were being filled with glass, and I let out a voiceless scream from the indescribable agony.

My body felt like it was shattering into pieces, my brain felt like it was melting. Perhaps it was breaking and healing simultaneously. It might even be happening in reality.

Was my body still intact… even that felt uncertain.

’But Evolution can brute-force through those. What was Evolution trained for? Not just for enhancing stats, but to grow blessings and prepare for this moment.

 ”Ah, hyu… hea… aa…”

 —My eyeballs felt incredibly hot.

 —My entire body felt cold.

 —My brain felt mushy.

—My fingers fell off one by one.

 —My throat felt torn?

 —It hurts, it hurts.

 —Huh, I can’t see anything.

 —Awoo awoo.

 —Prickle prickle.

 —Throb throb.

 —Numb numb.

 —No, no.

 —Boom boom.

 —Mush mush.

 ’KMR, hurry up~↑

When I finally noticed, the sunlight streaming through the window had turned into moonlight.

I didn’t know how much time had passed since then… but the devastation around me suggested I had thrashed for a considerable duration.

The curtains were torn down, remnants of a destroyed desk and chairs lay scattered, and bloodstains and vomit were splattered around my fallen form.

’Phew, it seems it’s finally over.

I slowly raised my head and looked into the cracked mirror. I was shocked to see my hair had turned pure white and some of it had fallen out, and then—

’Yes, with this, you have officially obtained the magic eye.

—I saw a part of the voice for the first time here.
