Chapter 3 I Doesn’t Want to Die, I Tried to Keep My Distance from the Hero (♀)… But Then She Came to Visit?
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Alexia Churidince—the heroine of The Maidens Fall for the Cross-Dressing Girl—had changed since that one incident with me. Ever since, she’d taken to wearing men’s clothes. Because of something that happened—probably my fault—she grew wary of men, despite being a dazzling beauty herself.
Born of the royal bloodline of Lyryshion, daughter of House Churidince, Alexia had been trained since childhood in magic, swordsmanship, the arts, and academics. She was the pride of the kingdom, a prodigy expected to shape the future… until she got tangled up with the infamous Seyfried brothers.
In the original game, she clashed with me and my brother Saghir in every route. Early on, she’d always suffer some cruel twist—usually orchestrated by us. But, as the heroine, she overcame it through the power of friendship and love with the other girls, defeating and condemning us villains in glorious fashion.
That was her charm—cool, radiant, and beautiful. And yes, by the end, she’d share sweet, intimate moments with her chosen heroine, as per the usual eroge finale.
Alexia was, of course, my ultimate favorite. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I imagine the real Alexia would appear before me again.
”Hello, Shin-kun.”
Before me stood a breathtaking vision—a silver-haired youth with jade eyes, sculpted features, and a voice that carried the warmth of youth. Her aura shimmered; this was the protagonist herself, a walking embodiment of light. Compared to her, I was just the villain’s shadow.
I nearly dropped to my knees. “Oh no, I should bow! If I don’t, she’ll chop my head off!”
”G-good afternoon, Alexia. What brings you here today?” I rubbed my hands together like a merchant trying to sell peace itself. Low posture—yes, stay humble. Show no hostility. So I will survive.
”Um… Shin-kun? Why are you rubbing your head against the floor and holding your hands up? Are you all right?” she asked, peering down at me with that adorable, worried look.
Oh no, she’s cute. Wait—no. I’m not into kids. Definitely not. Even if she’s destined to grow up into a stunning beauty later in the game, this Alexia is six. Six.
”Th-this is… training! Yes, part of my training, Alexia.”
”Training? And… why are you speaking so politely? You used to act all high and mighty.”
Because I don’t want to make you mad enough to kill me, that’s why—but I could hardly say that.
”Uh, well, remember a month ago when we went into the forest together?”
She nodded. “I do. You saved me that day, Shin-kun.”
Her cheeks flushed slightly as she smiled. My supposed rival was smiling at me, and my heart nearly gave out. No, stop it. Don’t fall for her. Remember the goblin incident—the humiliation. In the game, that’s when she started hating me, when she lost trust in men and turned toward the girls instead.
I had to stay away. In this world, I was just a background character. I needed distance.
”So, I guess you’ve come to hate me now, right? In that case, I’ll just continue my training. Farewell, Alexia.”
Still kneeling, I tried to crawl backward toward the courtyard where Orphen waited.
All this just to stay alive…
”Wait, Shin-kun… I… don’t have any other friends here.”
Her voice trembled—lonely, pleading. I didn’t have to look up to know her expression; it would be heartbreakingly sad.
Alexia Churidince, a genius among nobles, shunned by her peers, forced to live alone in this remote Seyfried duchy. The only child her age nearby… was me.
And even then, she’d endured my coldness, the bullying, the mockery. She’d been left to die by goblins once, surviving only to grow fearful of men. That was her canonical route.
But this isn’t a game. This is real.
If I turned her away now, what would become of her? She’d reached out, trusting me—the one person who’d ever been there. Ignoring that would make me the worst kind of villain.
”Alexia,” I said softly, lifting my head. “Would you like to join my training?”
She blinked. “Huh? Shin-kun?”
”I’ve started sword practice lately,” I continued with a gentle smile. “And, well, I’ve been studying magic and even learning to cook.”
Her eyes brightened. “Magic lessons and cooking? Wow! Can I study and cook with you, Shin-kun?”
Her excitement shone through every word. I couldn’t help but laugh quietly. Even knowing she’d one day grow into my greatest rival, how could I refuse?
”Of course. I’d be happy to. Two people learning together sounds much more fun than one alone.”
Yes, someday I’d have to step back, keep that safe distance. But right now, before me was a lonely six-year-old girl. And if I could make her smile, even just for a while, then maybe… I wouldn’t be such a bad guy after all.
So I smiled back at her, as gently as I could. My favorite heroine, Alexia Churidince—the girl I had once only admired from behind a screen—was right here, in front of me.
Notes:
• Saghir – Shin’s perfect older brother and the family heir. He is everything the parents adore and secretly despises Shin, viewing him as an obstacle. His slander helped push Shin toward villainy.
• Orphen – The Seyfried family’s head butler and Shin’s swordsmanship mentor. He is a retired legend—the Demon Knight of the Kingdom and a former Holy Knight. He agreed to train Shin only after the child abandoned his pride and groveled.
