Chapter 86 Abyssal Gravity Unleashed into the Corrupted Fairy Forest Adventure

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Karentisia was looking absolutely ghastly after seeing where her pendulum pointed us; I just hoped she’d be alright, ne?

”It certainly looks that way,” I murmured, a faint smirk playing on my lips. “I was a little worried when we left the Regain Kingdom in the middle of a night mist. I never expected that we’d be led right to the fairies’ paradise, almost as if someone was guiding us here. This is a real problem, ne.”

”…You’re right,” Karentisia fretted, her beautiful emerald eyes wide with apprehension. “The Anclear Forest is a bad place right now. That person is in the middle of taking effective control over it, after all.”

Was she afraid of something specific? Well, Karentisia is an Elven royal, so I figured there must be some sort of political mess going on behind the scenes for her.

But seriously, this whole situation was vexing. It really felt like our actions had been meticulously planned from the start, didn’t it? Separating from Red after all that, getting lost deep in a bizarre forest, then crawling through a strange, tiny cave only to find ourselves welcomed into this ridiculously peculiar village.

I stepped away from the bewildered Karentisia and moved toward the inn’s window to check out what was happening outside.

”Hmm… If I light up the whole place, Karentisia-chan will definitely notice. I should only let me see.” I focused my vision, changing my ordinary sight into [Fairy Eye]—the special sight that recognizes things most people can’t—and peered out.

[“AHAHAHA!! FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! TASTY FOOD RIGHT HERE!”] came a screeching voice.

[“These villagers are cruel, too. To sacrifice children like this just to keep us from eating them.”]

[“Let’s eat! Let’s eat! …Tonight’s a feast! We’ll hack off the children’s limbs and gobble them all up!”]

Ugh, gross! There were tons of black-swordsman-level freaks and monstrous aberrations out there, the kind that would make even a veteran adventurer reel.

There were creatures with mantis bodies and human faces, people with dozens of arms and legs, and even some poor souls with arms and organs grotesquely sprouting from their mouths. The variety was truly rich, I guess. If a normal person saw that scene, it would be enough to make them vomit; it was a pure apocalypse out there.

Were they planning some kind of ritual for me or Karentisia, ne? Like making us a sacrifice?

”…What is it, Shin Seyfried? Is there something out there?” Karentisia’s voice trembled as she approached the window where I stood.

Hmm, no. Absolutely not. I can’t let Karentisia, who has zero tolerance for gore, see these… sensitive people.

Therefore, I’m just going to slaughter everyone outside, ne! Green, Green… 2

[“F-F-Foo—what’s that?! Something is crushing my body… AAAAAAAAAH!!”]

[“…Me too! A weird power is making my body disappear…!”]

[“GYAHAHAHA…?!! What the—? This is going to kill me instantly…!”]

A full-scale massacre festival kicked off outside, with the screams, death throes, and wails of the monstrous aberrations echoing everywhere. Such a shame, ne.

Hoo-hoo… Just like that, the outside was instantly swallowed by silence. Mhm, mhm. You simply can’t make noise at night, right? Noise is absolutely forbidden!

”Shin Seyfried… I’ll ask you one more time. Is there anything out there?” Karentisia’s voice was strained.

”Mmm… No, no, nothing at all. I just finished cleaning up, that’s all. Take a look for yourself,” I declared, turning back to her.

”E-Eh, alright, I see…” she murmured, visibly relaxing. “It truly is a quiet village. Thank goodness… War Dog (Shin), I’m a little tired, so I’m going to sleep now. Good night.”

”Yes. Good night, Karentisia-chan.” I acknowledged.

”…If you try any pranks while I’m asleep, be prepared to get knocked out,” she warned, though her heart wasn’t really in it.

Hmm… Doesn’t that sound like she’s secretly asking me to pull a prank? Nah, I won’t tonight, though. It’s because I’ve got my own little festival starting soon.

”No, no, I wouldn’t do that. I’m tired, too, and I’ll be off to bed myself shortly,” I assured her.

”I see… That’s fine, then. Good night, Shin. See you tomorrow.”

 ”Yes… See you tomorrow.”

And just like that, Karentisia went off to the world of dreams. As for me, the one left behind? I stepped outside.

”AHAHAHA, this is great. I don’t know who got us lost in this incredible place, but thanks to them, I can finally cut loose without holding back. This is fine, right? The opponents are just these phantom fairies, after all…”

I slipped out the inn window, casting a Barrier Magic that would absolutely prevent anything from getting in, and headed toward the edge of the village.

[“Food, food, food…”] [“Fresh, fresh, fresh!”] [“Young children’s flesh… A delicacy!”]

They swarmed out from everywhere—my food for the night… Perfect. They’re filled with killing intent; they’re the ideal opponents, ne.

”…I’ll get rid of a lifetime’s worth of suppressed impulse tonight. You demons of the Fairy Sea of Trees. Try your best to survive until dawn, ne.”

 [“GYAAAAAH?!”] [“…Stop, stop it—!!”]

 [“AAAAAAAAH!!”]

”AHAHAHA!! You’re the ones who started this first, right? You servants of the Insect King…”

────Later that night, Karentisia’s diary recorded that the entire Sea of Trees was filled with the deafening screams of the discarded fairies in the area known as the (Phantom Waste) of the Anclear Forest.

 Summary:

The tense adventure takes a dark turn when Shin and Karentisia realize they’ve been led into the corrupted Anclear Forest, the former Fairy Paradise, which is currently controlled by a mysterious powerful enemy. Karentisia’s fear escalates as Shin, using his Fairy Eye and a Darkness Magic called Abyss Gravitia, discovers the village is surrounded by grotesque, bloodthirsty aberrant fairies plotting to feast on them. Feigning exhaustion, Shin successfully calms Karentisia and sends her to sleep, before unleashing a cathartic, violent massacre against the monstrous creatures, using the overwhelming gravitational force of his Abyssal Gravity to clear the village and indulge his suppressed bloodlust for the first time.

 Character Insight:

Shin Seyfried reveals his true, ruthless nature as the Villainous Heir when he prioritizes Karentisia’s emotional safety over honest communication, lying about the grotesque aberrant fairies outside to let her sleep peacefully. His immediate, violent reaction and dark joy at the ‘massacre festival’ shows his profound ability to suppress and then violently release his darker impulses, highlighting the depth of his secret power and the truly dark fantasy nature of his character. He sees the monstrous beings as mere ‘food’ for his unbridled power.

 —

 Behind the Scene:

The setting for this confrontation is the Anclear Forest, a critical location whose corruption provides the perfect, secluded arena for Shin to use his full power without worrying about consequences or witnesses. The separation from Red-kun was a key narrative device to isolate Shin and Karentisia, ensuring that the sinister setup by a mysterious entity worked to its fullest. This entire scene of being ‘led’ by the pendulum and then trapped suggests a powerful enemy has intentionally lured them into this area for a specific, dark purpose. The final note from Karentisia’s diary confirms the large-scale fantasy horror event that Shin caused.

 T/L:

2 [Green, Green…]: A playful, slightly macabre reference to a children’s song or nursery rhyme, used here right before Shin executes mass murder, which highlights the chilling contrast between his casual demeanor and his brutal actions.

Notes:

• Alt – A Dragonkin member of the Twelve Apostles who was researching Dragonkin-related Divine Artifacts. He becomes Shin’s primary source of information and suggests consulting his mentor, Lin, for a potential cure.
