Chapter 1 The Elf Customer and the Back-Alley Adult Magic Shop
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
It was in Canarias, the Royal Capital of the Canaria Kingdom, just off the main avenue. If you peeled away from the busy street, past the taverns and the sketchy hostels, and rounded into the dead-end of a hidden back-alley, you’d find my magic tool shop, ‘Harvest’. This spot wasn’t exactly known for its great security, y’know?
The place was crammed with magic tools, piled high, left and right. I was settled in my prime spot—a low workbench buried amidst all the junk that most regular folks would only see as garbage. I was sitting cross-legged, fiddling with some gear, when the bell hanging on the entry door let out a thin, chime.
”…Come on in,” I drawled, keeping my voice low and sounding bored outta my mind, just to play the part of a suspicious shopkeeper.
”…”
Didn’t get a word back. When I looked up, there was a customer even shadier than me standing there, completely wrapped up in a hooded robe.
”What do you want, customer? If you’re just looking to kill time, beat it.”
”…Ngh!”
My words seemed to make the shady visitor totally flinch. Looks like they were serious about buying something, then. After a moment of hesitation, she pulled back the hood. What spilled out was a waterfall of hair the color of fresh, new green leaves. Her blue eyes, her pointed ears, and a beauty that was almost unreal; it hit you right away.

The shady customer was apparently an Elf woman. They aren’t super rare in this world, but this was the first one I’d ever had come in as a customer, that’s for sure. She hesitated again, biting her lip multiple times before she finally spoke up.
”I—I heard that you sell that thing here… is that right?” she stammered, her voice thin with embarrassment.
”‘That thing’ ain’t specific enough, customer,” I returned, making sure my voice sounded as tiresome as possible. I knew I had a good catch on my hands, but I kept up the disinterested act. The Elf’s face was beet red, and she was shaking all over. But I just waited. I wasn’t gonna prompt her. I needed the Elf to say the words herself. Finally, she seemed to just give up entirely and blurted it out.
”S-So, I said! I need the Special Aphrodisiac Lotion: ‘Ut*rus’s Throbbing’ and the Chunky D*ldo: ‘Ochimpo-kun No. 3’!!!”
”Heh-heh, thanks for your business!” I chuckled, letting out the lowest, dirtiest laugh I couldn’t hold back after pulling those vulgar words from such a pure-looking Elf.

I’d started selling these adult magic tools about a year ago. It was a little while after I’d been dumped into this world and managed to get a magic tool shop up and running.
I was just a regular salaryman in my old world. I’d finished a thirty-day run without a day off, stumbled home exhausted, and just drank a can of beer out of pure self-pity. Then I got dizzy, blacked out, and suddenly woke up here.
I landed here without any of the special abilities you read about in stories, and I was starving that first day. I survived thanks to the surprisingly kind thugs—or gorotsuki—who hung around this alley. I first tried to make a living as an adventurer.
But the reality was rough. I couldn’t handle fighting scary monsters or even the hard labor. The only thing I was any good at was gathering herbs and making simple healing potions.
”Wow, you gather pretty high-quality herbs, don’t ya?”
”The potions this guy makes actually feel like they give me a burst of energy!”
”Hey, Kento, maybe you’ve got a talent for being an apothecary or an alchemist. Why don’t you try focusing on that?”
Looking back, I bet they were just worried that I’d be eaten by a monster soon and were just giving me empty praise. But I took the hint and begged lessons from an eccentric old apothecary lady and a grumpy old alchemist guy. I managed to start making decent enough products.
Then, one day, I found out I actually had a tiny bit of magic power. Not enough to be a flashy mage, but enough to make magic potions and tools. I worked even harder, and finally, I managed to open my own store.
But reality slapped me again. My efforts should have paid off—I was so hopeful that I even named the shop ‘Harvest’—but customers just weren’t showing up. The name felt hollow.
”Hey, Kento, still at it?”
”Still hearin’ the crickets chirping, huh?”
”Shut up! It’s not my fault! I can’t beat Old Lady Miranda with her medicines, and I can’t beat Old Man Kogima with everything else!”
It was true; my skills couldn’t compete with my teachers’. I had to sell lower-quality goods at cheaper prices just to get by, catering to rookie adventurers. It wasn’t exactly thriving. My teachers had only agreed to teach me and let me open a shop because they knew I wasn’t a threat, but the business was still depressing. I complained to the thugs about wanting a better life, and they gave me some advice.
”Well, you should start by making things those two can’t make, right?”
”Hold on, how long have those two been in business? If it was that easy, everyone would do it.”
”You can’t compete on quality. Think about it. There are things that the old lady, who cares about the ‘Apothecary’s Pride,’ or the old man, who’s married to a fancy wife, would never make or sell, right?”
”Oh, that’s a good point! I actually wanted something to get my own missus in the mood!”
”Hey, isn’t that forbidden?”
”Huh, is it!?”
It was a revelation. With magic in this world, of course aphrodisiacs existed. They were the real deal, nothing like the stuff from my old world. They were so potent that skilled craftsmen hesitated to make or sell them. But for me—a guy with nothing to lose—it was the perfect product.
There was a problem, though. Just as Thug A mentioned, selling aphrodisiacs to men was strictly illegal. I bet they were still being sold secretly in the black market, but I wasn’t about to walk that tightrope.
So, what was the answer? Simple. I’d sell them to women. Once I decided that, things moved fast. I used my knowledge from my previous life to make female-focused adult magic tools, and I started selling those alongside the aphrodisiacs.

”W-Well, then, I’ll be leaving now!” the Elf announced.
”Thanks for your business!” I chirped back.
I watched the Elf, whose pointed ears were pink with shame, rush out. With such a gorgeous face, and yet she was asking for the Chunky Dildo: ‘Ochimpo-kun No. 3’… She was the kind of customer who really got my imagination going.
Word-of-mouth spread, and my shop, ‘Harvest,’ eventually became the place women secretly visited. Customers like the one just now even knew about my little quirk: making them say the explicit product names themselves.
And yet, the customer count never drops. It’s a sweet business, I gotta say. That Elf looked like she was holding back a lot, too. Yeah, I bet she’ll be back again.

Summary:
In the Royal Capital’s shady back alleys, Kento, a cynical former salaryman, runs his adult magic shop, ‘Harvest.’ Business picks up when a beautiful, highly-embarrassed Elf customer in a hooded robe arrives. She struggles to name the explicit aphrodisiac and adult tool she desperately needs. Kento, exploiting the situation for his own amusement and business model, forces her to finally blurt out the vulgar product names.
This encounter highlights the unique, niche market Kento carved out after discovering his minor magic power and realizing he couldn’t beat his former masters in conventional potion-making and alchemy. The taboo nature of his adult goods is what finally brought him success.
—
Character Insight:
Kento’s true nature is a pragmatic, weary survivor from the modern world. He puts on a bored, sleazy front to run his back-alley shop, ‘Harvest,’ but his internal monologue reveals his business savvy and his enjoyment of the small power dynamic he holds over his customers. He’s not a villain, just an isekai refugee who found the only profitable angle in a world where he otherwise had no special abilities. The ironic naming of his shop reflects his initially misplaced hopes versus his current, more successful but morally ambiguous reality.
—
Behind the Scene:
This scene establishes the setting of the adult magic shop in the capital’s red-light adjacent district and introduces Kento’s isekai origin story: an overworked salaryman transported here without any great powers. His success came not from being the best, but from recognizing a legal loophole—selling aphrodisiacs and adult tools exclusively to women, a market his morally upright or married former mentors would never touch. The arrival of the beautiful, flustered Elf is the first clear example of how his unique business model operates, confirming his suspicion that the discreet, suggestive nature of his sales is key to his success.
Notes:
• Kento – The owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ which discretely sells adult goods. He’s a former overworked, ordinary salaryman from modern Japan who was suddenly transported (isekai’d) to this fantasy world. He has dark hair and an unremarkable appearance, typically wearing a plain, slightly suspicious-looking shop owner’s clothes looks like Kazuma Satou from certain series. He has a minimal amount of magic power, enough to craft his specialty items.
