Chapter 34 The Man Who Demands a Better Quality of Life
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I travel back to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber, and I pull up the operational window. Once again, I spread out the map of the Dominion.
”Hmm… where should I even start messing with it?” I pondered.
Right now, my main focus has been on the central area of the territory. I’ve been digging a double moat to surround the house right in the center.
I’ve driven wooden stakes into the bottom of the moats, and I’ve got multiple layers of fencing set up. Since I’ve also pounded stakes into those fences, I’ve managed to keep the demon monsters from coming in.
Ever since I got this defense system completed, the demon monsters haven’t launched an attack. They probably don’t want to go deliberately provoking a suspicious-looking nest.
Not that there are a ton of demon monsters here in the first place, though.
”So, basically, as long as the defenses are solid with the fences and moats, the demon monsters aren’t likely to show up in the central area,” I murmured.
The newly expanded Dominion area has nothing built on it yet. I don’t really have the Resource Points to spare for developing that land, anyway. It feels like developing the central area should take priority over points for the expansion.
”For now, I guess I should convert the house back into Resource Points and clear the area…”
I manipulate the window, converting the house and all the furniture into Resource Points. I get back twenty percent of the points I originally spent to set them up. I call up a different screen and select the house options, then start to fine-tune exactly what kind of house I want.
”The size… this looks about right. I’ll make it a wooden log house style… Perfect. Let’s make it two stories!” I exclaimed with a new plan.
The basic structure will be a two-story with an open-air atrium. The first floor will have the living room and the bedroom, which is the same as before. Then I add the second floor and the stairs leading up to it. The second floor has no rooms, just a floor. Since it’s an open design, I’ll be able to easily call out to anyone on the second floor from the first.
I put a bigger bed in the first-floor bedroom. And I place one small bed on the second floor. That way, when Cleonora and I are connecting on the first floor, the other person can stay on the second.
There are no doors, so I guess every little sound will totally carry… Well, if that’s the case, then so be it….
”Oh, that’s right, I can finally create mirrors now, too,” I suddenly remembered.
I install one on the first floor and one on the second. I put a particularly large one right next to the bed in the bedroom. Because of my skill set, we often end up connecting from behind. I’m fine with that position—I like it, actually—but I always regretted not being able to see her face.
But now, even when we’re connecting from behind, I can see her face through the mirror! I can’t wait to see Cleonora’s expression when she’s getting penetrated from the back!
”Next, I’ll create a big table and three chairs… Done! Yeah! This looks about right!”
When I finish the house design, I use my finger on the screen to confirm the placement. When I get back above ground, the new house should be built.
”Next up… I should build a toilet, too.”
Up until now, we’ve always had to go outside! Since we’re going to have more people joining us, I want to get this problem sorted out as soon as possible. It’s a matter of hygiene, after all.
First, I bring up a small shed on the window and, just like the house, I make some detailed adjustments.
”Alright… add a door, and in the middle section… I’ll put a hole… there.”
The plan is to use that hole to relieve ourselves. I install this shed on the ground, placing it a little way from the house.
”And now, for the underground modifications…”
Before, I could only really interfere with the underground by digging a moat, but since my Quester Level has increased, I can make more fine-tuned adjustments.
Using that function, I start by digging an even deeper hole directly below the central hole of the toilet shed. If I were to use it like this, it would just be an old-fashioned pit latrine. But there are no vacuum trucks in this other world. If we keep using it, the smell will get terrible, and it’ll be awfully bad for sanitation.
So, I turn my attention to the lake, which became a new region under my control when the territory expanded.
”I’ll create a slope from the lake and connect it all the way to the bottom of the hole…”
I fluently create a tunnel underground, zooming and manipulating the screen with my finger. The tunnel connects from the lake to the bottom of the toilet, and then continues back toward the lake at a slope.
”Alright! How about this…!?”
If my theory is correct, water should constantly be flowing into the bottom of the toilet. The water flowing in from the lake should carry away the waste after we use it… or so I thought, as I went back up above ground and headed for the toilet. I peer down into the hole.
”…It’s too dark to see.”
I’d forgotten something basic, so I go back to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber, install a light at the bottom of the hole, and check again. I can confirm that water is pooled at the bottom… but.
”It… it’s not flowing…” I groaned.
It was completely different from what I expected. There was no current, only a quiet surface of water.

”What are you doing over here~?” Ami-chan floats over, having been giving instructions to the Maidens. I explain the situation to her.
”…So, that’s what’s up. My idea was that the water flowing in from the lake would pass through the bottom of this hole and go back to the lake.”
”…Haa. Shou, you were able to study in your old world, right? How can you not know something so simple…?” she sighed with a heavy dose of pity.
”Huh…?”
She’s giving me this look of deep sorrow! But in the grand scheme of things, I’m just a high school graduate, an adult who’s never held a steady job. I can’t exactly be considered smart.
”Sure, if you make a slope, the water will flow in, but~. If you send it right back out to the lake, there’s no way you’ll generate a current, is there? In fact, depending on the rain or the lake’s water level, the water might actually start overflowing from the bottom of the toilet! Is the water level okay? Isn’t it rising right now?” she warned.
”………!”
Oh no…! She’s right! I didn’t think of that! To create a current, it has to be a one-way street…!
”Ugh… I can’t believe making a simple toilet is this difficult…” I lamented.
”Your entire knowledge base for toilets is from Japan, isn’t it? You automatically assume it has to use water. Why don’t you ask Cleonora what kind of toilets the nobles in this world use? Maybe they’ve solved it with some kind of sorcery or something?” she suggested.
That’s a good point. Since this world has Magic Power, their civilization has developed in a completely different way than Japan’s. I couldn’t think of any method other than flushing with water, but Cleonora and the others might have a totally different perspective on toilets.
”Still, I want to figure out the best toilet I can make right now…. Hmm… What if I just make a huge underground space in a super-deep area and fill it with water? But the smell might get bad when it’s hot…”
”Why don’t you just check? Couldn’t you already create a standard toilet?” Ami-chan inquired.
”…What?” I gasped.
”I feel like I saw the word Toilet in the list of creatable items when your Quester Level went up…” she recalled.
To find the truth behind Ami-chan’s words, we return to the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber. I open the operational window and check the list of creatable items. I hadn’t looked closely because the number of new items I could create had exploded. Scrolling through the screen, I find (Toilet) exactly where Ami-chan said it was.
”Huh… Whaaat!? There’s a pre-made toilet available!?” I exclaimed in surprise.
”Let’s see what kind of thing it is right away!” she urged.
I display the toilet in the window. It’s not what you’d imagine a toilet to be; it’s just a simple trench.
However, a description is visible at the edge of the screen.
”Let’s see… ‘All waste that enters this trench is converted into Resource Points’… It says!”
”Heh! This is so convenient! It’s a type of toilet that never appeared in the previous Quester system, is it not!” Ami-chan noted.
Apparently, for waste only, it can be converted into Resource Points right on the spot, even when it’s far away from the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber. Wait, the waste can be converted into Resource Points…?
”So, the waste disappears the moment it enters the trench… That’s amazing. That solves all the hygiene problems at once, doesn’t it?”
And what was all my struggling for….
Feeling like I wanted to cry, I restore the underground tunnel and the shed I’d made for the toilet back to their original state. As I go to create the toilet shed again, I have a naughty thought.
(Wait a minute… depending on how I install this toilet trench, I could make it easily peekable…!)
I could intentionally leave the ceiling off and only surround the toilet area with a fence. Then I could peek from the second floor of the house. Heh, I’m a genius.
But I stop myself, knowing that Cleonora would probably be disgusted. She knows about the Quester’s power. She probably wouldn’t complain, but if she thought she could have built a better toilet herself, I wouldn’t be able to hold my head up.
So, I create the shed again. I place a short trench in the center of the narrow shed and install it a little distance from the house. Just in case, I go outside and check inside the shed.
”Yeah. This looks good,” I decided.
The trench is in the center of the small shed. I used it right away. Sure enough, the waste that entered the trench immediately vanished cleanly.
”Incredible… It’s a toilet revolution…” I breathed.
Since it even earns Resource Points, there’s nothing more I could ask for. I check the total and see that the Resource Points have increased slightly.
Come to think of it, I can check the inside of any structure I’ve installed from the Great Phantasmal Soulstone chamber anytime. As the Dominator, I have unlimited viewing access.
”But this toilet trench, even though it’s innovative and hygienic, uses a lot of Resource Points…”
”Well, of course, it does! It’s equipment that converts waste into Resource Points from a distance, even if it’s waste-exclusive. This is extremely high-level stuff, you know!” Ami-chan retorted.
I could adjust the length of the trench, but I couldn’t create anything very long.
”Anyway, I’ve got the house and the toilet installed now. All that’s left is a bath…”
”The means of heating the water are limited, aren’t they~” Ami-chan noted.
That’s the thing…. I can create a bonfire, and I could probably heat water if I put my mind to it. But the water I can create right now is limited to small quantities, like what fits in a water jug. I can’t create large amounts of water. If I create a large amount of water—enough to soak your body in—it uses a massive amount of Resource Points, even if it’s just drinking water.
”I guess I’d really like to draw water from the lake.”
”You could make a big bath if you did that. But then how would you heat it up? Besides, there’s no guarantee the lake water is clean, is there?” she asked.
”That’s the problem, isn’t it…” I muttered.
If I’m going to make a bath, I want to make it big enough for multiple women to soak in together. No, it’s not worth making unless it’s that size. But it’s hard to figure out how much water I can heat in a day with the heat from a bonfire. Besides, the water will inevitably cool down over time.
”I think we just have to put the bath on hold for a while. I bet the shortcut is to increase your Quester Level,” Ami-chan advised.
”Huh…? What do you mean…?” I asked, confused.
”Look, even with the toilet, you ended up generating something really high-spec, didn’t you? I think that’s a result of your own personal obsession with sanitation being reflected in the creation options,” she explained.
Come to think of it, Ami-chan had mentioned that the items and skills that can be created vary depending on the Quester. It seems that a toilet like that was born because of me.
”Shou, your fixation on having a bath is amazing, for some reason. And you’re so hung up on how clean you want the toilet to be. Judging by all that, you’ll probably be able to create a high-performance bath eventually, don’t you think?” she mused.
”…I see.”
In that case, I’ll just have to look forward to the future…. Anyway, while I was preoccupied with building the house and the toilet, it got completely dark. We step outside and eat dinner while Ami-chan and I align our plans for the future.
”So… if Cleonora brings her sister, we should proceed with making her a Magic Girl, right…?”
”Of course! It would be best to do it as quickly as possible, in fact! Once she can transform into a Magic Girl, we’ll head to Japan! We should have enough Ego Points for the round trip by then!” she affirmed.
Ami-chan’s plan is to go to Japan once the second Magic Girl is created. I don’t disagree with that. I want to put some Japanese items in the Treasury as soon as possible.
”My only concern is how long it’ll take to get her Affection Level to 50.”
”There’s individual variation, right? But we managed to get Cleonora there in just one night…” I reminded her.
”That was a special situation for both of you, wasn’t it? Cleonora was also in a state where she was easily affected by the skills. But for the little sister, it won’t be a completely alien environment since her older sister will be there. We can’t say for sure yet,” Ami-chan concluded.
Affection Level changes even without physical intimacy. In short, the more easily charmed someone is, the faster the Affection Level rises. It makes sense that environment, upbringing, and personality come into play. Our compatibility will also matter. Either way, it’s definitely going to take some time to put her into the (Slave of Love) state.
”Well, let’s take our time! It’s not like I expect to have a hundred or two hundred (Slave of Love) members right away~” she chuckled.
”Isn’t that example number a little too high…?” I sweat-dropped.
After finishing dinner, I spent the night alone—a rare occurrence in this other world.

Summary:
Shou completely rebuilds the Dominion’s central house into a two-story log house, complete with a large mirror to improve his enjoyment during intimate moments. His first attempt to engineer a modern, water-flushing toilet fails hilariously due to basic physics, which Ami-chan points out with a teasing tone. He then discovers a high-level, self-sanitizing Toilet Trench that converts waste into Resource Points. The pair conclude that getting a proper bath requires raising the Quester Level. They finalize their plan to recruit Cleonora’s sister as a second Magic Girl and then travel to Japan, recognizing the Affection Level grind will take time.
—
Character Insight:
Shou’s actions are driven by a very relatable, human need for modern comfort, even as a powerful Dominator. His failure with the toilet, contrasting with his success in magical construction, shows his reliance on his past world’s knowledge. Ami-chan, with her sharp wit and technical knowledge of the Quester system, acts as a pragmatic foil to Shou’s often over-ambitious ideas.

Behind the Scene:
This chapter focuses on a common isekai theme: the protagonist trying to apply modern standards to a fantasy world. The creation of the self-sanitizing toilet is a major quality-of-life upgrade, which also subtly ties into resource generation, a core mechanic of the story. The final discussion sets up the next major plot point: the recruitment of the new Magic Girl, Eme-chan, and the subsequent trip to Japan.
—
T/L:
The toilet trench, a seemingly minor creation, is foreshadowed as a significant item with ‘lots of uses’ in the future, likely for both hygiene and resource farming.¹
Notes:
• Cleonora – The second princess. Have a yellow blonde hair. Usually styled as hairbun.
• Ami – A palm-sized fairy-like being from a world separate from both Earth and the isekai realm. She has light blue hair tied in a ponytail, mischievous blue eyes, and tiny wings that flutter behind her. Her outfit consists of a provocative high-cut leotard and a short jacket that looks like a miniskirt from the back, leaving her legs bare. Despite her playful appearance, she is actively searching for a contractor who can protect her from dangerous pursuers in exchange for the powers she offers.
