Chapter 80 Premonition of Jealousy
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The tests ended without any issues. Thanks to Katayama-san, it looked like I would manage to get my credits without failing.
On the final day of the first semester, we decided to have a post-exam celebration at a karaoke box near the university. There were eight of us in total: myself, the four girls I met during the Bus Hike¹, Shota, Masashi-san, and Masashi-san’s high school junior (who was in the same grade at university), Naoya Hirose. Since I had already planned to bring an Ochugen² gift to Watanabe-sensei’s house that day, I ended up bringing Manami along.
It was supposed to be a celebration for the exams, but Manami ended up becoming the star of the show. Still, since I didn’t have anyone I could really call a friend back in high school, Manami seemed relieved.
”I never imagined your first friends would be four girls,” Manami said.
Manami is the jealous type, so I had kept quiet about it, but the cat was out of the bag now.
”He was so reliable during the Bus Hike, we even managed to get 4th place,” Miura-san said.
”Yeah, yeah, he gave us advice on which courses to take and even helped us with the tests, so he’s really been a lifesaver,” Fujita-san added.
”Compared to Inamori-kun, my boyfriend feels like such a child,” Kato-san remarked.
”But he’s the ace pitcher, isn’t he? He’s quite cool,” another replied.
”Manami-san, have you seen Misaki’s boyfriend before?”. Takahashi-san asked.
”I saw him starting when I went to cheer for Hirokazu-san’s friend,” Manami answered.
”That’s right… next time, I want you to teach me how to handle him,” Kato-san said.
”Handle him? I just follow Hirokazu-san’s lead, so I don’t really have anything to teach,” Manami replied.
”Manami-san, were you just bragging?”. Takahashi-san asked.
”I didn’t mean it that way, but…” Manami muttered.
”Must be nice, Hirokazu. Having such a wonderful wife. Teach me how to find one like her,” Shota said.
”Shota, there are three right here,” I pointed out.
”No way!” Fujita-san, Miura-san, and Takahashi-san all denied it at once.
Since it was time to head to Watanabe-sensei’s house, we decided to take our leave.
”So, you brought your wife along?”. Shota asked.
”When you say Watanabe-sensei, do you mean the shrewd lawyer, Junichi Watanabe? I knew he was Inamori’s legal representative, but are you still in touch?”. Masashi-san asked.
Masashi-san is a courtroom observation maniac, so he knows a lot about lawyers. However, I hadn’t known that Watanabe-sensei had a nickname like ‘shrewd.’
”That’s right. He’s like a father figure to me, so I’m bringing him an Ochugen gift,” I explained.
”Speaking of Lawyer Watanabe, wasn’t he close with Professor Matsunaga? Inamori’s connections are incredible,” Hirose remarked.
”Is that so? Then my next four years are secure!”. Fujita-san said.
Manami exchanged contact information with the four girls and left the place with me.
When we arrived at Watanabe-sensei’s house, Kotoha-chan was overjoyed that Manami had come. Just like earlier, Manami is very popular with other women. Kotoha-chan immediately whisked Manami away to her own room.
”Inamori-kun, I’m sorry about Kotoha,” Watanabe-sensei’s wife said.
”Manami is an only child and thinks of Kotoha-chan like a younger sister, so it’s perfectly fine,” I replied.
After a while, Watanabe-sensei returned, and we had a dinner party. Manami was asking the wife for the recipes of the dishes served.
When I mentioned I’d heard he was called ‘shrewd,’ Watanabe-sensei replied with a humble smile.
”There are some people who say that, but I’m just doing my best for my clients.”
I felt he looked very cool saying that.
”By the way, summer vacation starts tomorrow. It’ll be a good learning experience, so come to the office when you have time,” he invited.
I have the inheritance from my parents, but I don’t want to rely on it; I want to earn my own living as soon as possible. Since I’m aiming to pass the Bar Exam³ before graduation, I was grateful for the offer.
When we returned home, Manami became unusually clingy. As I thought, she seemed bothered by the fact that my first friends were four girls. Even though two of them already have boyfriends…
”Let’s take a bath,” Manami said.
In our house, as long as time permits, we take baths together, washing each other’s bodies to reaffirm our love. Naturally, when I enter the bath with Manami, I can’t avoid getting hard.
And today, too, it’s rock hard. What’s more, even though she should have finished washing it, Manami is touching it with her soapy hands.

”Hirokazu-san, why didn’t you tell me that the first friends you made were girls?”.
Manami gripped it tightly.
”Ow! I couldn’t say it because I thought you’d worry, Manami.”
”Geez… it’s not like I intend to tie you down that much…”
”I’m sorry.”
”I know you won’t do anything wrong, Hirokazu-san, so please tell me properly, okay?”.
When Manami gets angry, she’s actually quite scary.
Manami’s hand movements started getting faster.
”If you keep doing that, I’m going to finish…”
”Oh? Then maybe I’ll stop here.”
”Eh!”
Manami let go of it and rinsed the foam away with the shower.
”Let’s go to bed quickly,” she whispered.
Manami hugged me from behind, her chest pressing against my back.
Once we got to the bedroom, she squeezed everything out of me: once in her mouth, once from behind, and once in the missionary position, for a total of three times. However, since it was a risky day, I couldn’t finish inside, so we used protection.

Summary:
Hirokazu completes his exams and attends a celebration where his wife, Manami, meets his new female friends. Afterward, they visit Hirokazu’s mentor, the famous lawyer Watanabe, for a formal gift exchange and dinner. Manami struggles with a bit of jealousy regarding Hirokazu’s social circle. The chapter concludes with an intimate encounter back at their home as summer vacation begins.
—
Character Insight:
Manami’s internal conflict is on full display here; she wants to be a supportive wife who doesn’t ‘tie down’ her husband, yet her natural possessiveness flares up when she realizes his first university friends are all women. Hirokazu, while academically brilliant, shows a classic dense protagonist trait by hiding the gender of his friends to ‘avoid worry,’ which inevitably backfires. Meanwhile, the ‘shrewd’ Watanabe serves as a professional role model for Hirokazu’s future ambitions.
—
Behind the Scene:
The term ‘shrewd’ (辣腕 – Ratsuwan) often implies a lawyer who is not only skilled but also aggressive or highly efficient in a way that can be intimidating to opponents. The tradition of Ochugen is a vital part of maintaining professional and personal ‘giri’ (obligation) in Japanese society.
