Chapter 1 Otherworld Teleportation

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”And so, based on points (1) and (2), the given equation is proven to hold true for all natural numbers.”

The time was 2:00 PM. Fighting back the urge to doze off, I, Anma Rakuo, sat watching our teacher. Being the first class after lunch, a heavy, lethargic mood saturated the classroom. Despite that, most of the students remained awake, largely because the one teaching math was our very own homeroom teacher, Nishiyama-sensei. Though she was a bit of a space cadet and her teaching skills left something to be desired, she possessed an earnest charm that made everyone want to cheer her on. Combined with the fact that she was relatively close to us in age, she was quite popular—the girls in class practically doted on her.

”Alright, I’d like you all to spend the next fifteen minutes solving the practice problems. I’ll be walking around, so please let me know if you run into any trouble,” Nishiyama-sensei said.

Prompted by her instructions, the class began to move with sluggish coordination. The problems were fairly similar to the examples we’d just covered, so I worked through them while flipping back and forth through the pages of my textbook. My hand was starting to ache; this particular unit wasn’t so much difficult as it was tedious to write out. I took a moment to stretch, hoping the movement would shake off my lingering drowsiness. In doing so, my eyes met the teacher’s.

”Anma-kun, is everything alright? Did you hit a snag somewhere?” Nishiyama-sensei asked.

 ”No, I’m okay, Nishiyama-sensei. Everything’s going smoothly,” I replied.

”Is that so? Here, let me have a quick look,” she said.

She leaned over to inspect my notebook. As she bent forward, the neckline of her top shifted, offering a glimpse of her cleavage that immediately drew my eyes. I panicked and forced my gaze back down to my notes. I really hoped she hadn’t caught me looking.

”Let’s see… Yes, this looks good. Your logic flows well, and your handwriting is quite neat. Keep it up for the rest of them,” Nishiyama-sensei said.

 ”Will do,” I replied.

With a final nod, she resumed her rounds toward the front of the room. A faint, floral scent lingered in her wake—likely her perfume. (Man, she really is gorgeous…)

I found myself watching her walk away; her breasts and rear had a soft, rhythmic bounce with every step. Just as I was caught staring at her back, she started to turn around. I scrambled to fix my eyes on my notebook again.

Right then, the world suddenly erupted into light. It wasn’t just around me—the entire classroom was bathed in it.

 ”Whoa, what the—?!”

Before I could even process my surprise, my vision was bleached pure white. The glare was so intense I had to screw my eyes shut.

When I finally opened them, I was standing in a massive hall. A complex Magic Circle¹ was carved into the floor beneath us. It had been pulsing with light, but now it flickered once and went dark.

”Your Highness, the summoning was a success!”

 ”We did it, Your Highness!”

On a raised platform overlooking the hall, a group of people were shouting excitedly. Summoning? Does that mean this is…

”Welcome, Heroes from another world. I am Princess Leticia, the First Princess of the Holy Kingdom of Samonar². I beseech you—would you please lend us your strength to defeat the Demon King³ who plagues our world and save our people?”

A stunningly beautiful girl stepped forward and addressed us. It really was an otherworld class-teleportation!

 ”It’s an isekai teleportation!”

 ”Hell yeah! Another world!”

”Alright! This is finally my time to shine!”

The class immediately split into two camps. There were those shouting things like that, and then there were the others.

”Wait, there’s no way we can do stuff like in the novels…”

 ”Seriously, a Demon King?”

 ”I’m not even athletic…”

They were paralyzed by doubt. The Princess waited patiently for the initial uproar to subside before continuing.

”It is only natural that you would be distressed, having come from such a peaceful world. However, please rest assured. The gods have bestowed upon each of you a Skill and a Job to aid your survival. Naturally, we understand that some may receive Jobs ill-suited for combat, or may simply lack the temperament for war. Such individuals will be granted protection here within the Royal Palace. Furthermore, for those who contribute to the Demon King’s subjugation, the Royal Family shall provide every possible reward within our power.”

The students who had been worried about fighting looked visibly relieved at the mention of protection, while the ones who were already hyped up grew even more fervent at the mention of rewards. One particularly playboy raised his voice.

”So, Princess! If I’m the one to take down the Demon King, that means I can have you as my prize, right?!”

The adults flanking the Princess scowled at his incredibly crass tone, but Princess Leticia simply offered a gracious nod and a smile.

”Indeed. Whether it be myself or my younger sisters, we would have no objection.”

”Awwwww yeah! Score!” the playboy cheered.

”Excuse me, but… will we be able to return to our own world?”

While looking at the playboy as if he were literal garbage, our class representative, Owa Kumi-san, raised her hand to ask a question. The Princess maintained her smile as she replied.

”Yes. Once the Demon King is defeated, the light will return to this Magic Circle. By activating it then, you will be able to return to your original world, at the exact moment you left, and in your original form.”

”And what happens if we die here?” the rep pressed.

The heavy word “die” seemed to drain the warmth from the air. Princess Leticia’s smile wavered slightly, taking on a troubled quality.

”The spell engraved into this Magic Circle is designed to restore your original form, so you can be returned as long as even a portion of your body remains. Therefore, for those participating in the campaign, I ask that you entrust me with something as small as a strand of hair or a nail clipping. Of course, our greatest wish is for everyone to return safely after the Demon King’s fall. We will ensure you receive comprehensive training before you are asked to face any danger.”

Learning that death didn’t necessarily mean being lost forever seemed to settle the room’s nerves. Once the Princess was certain there were no more immediate questions, she clapped her hands together.

”Now then, let us verify everyone’s Skills and Jobs. To determine our path forward, you must first discover what powers you hold.”

 Summary:

Anma Rakuo is whisked away from a mundane math class into a fantasy world alongside his entire class. Princess Leticia of Samonar explains that they have been summoned as Heroes to defeat a Demon King, offering high rewards and royal marriages in return. Despite the fear of death, she reassures them that a resurrection-based return system is in place as long as a part of their body remains. The chapter concludes with the group preparing to discover their unique RPG-like abilities.

 —

 Character Insight:

Rakuo’s focus on Nishiyama-sensei’s physical appeal highlights his status as a normal, slightly hormonal teenager, contrasting sharply with the life-or-death situation he’s thrust into. Princess Leticia’s behavior is particularly noteworthy; her extreme hospitality and ‘too-good-to-be-true’ promises about marriage and resurrection suggest she is highly skilled at managing and manipulating the ‘Heroes’ to suit the kingdom’s needs. Owa Kumi’s pragmatism provides a necessary anchor, showing that not all students are easily swayed by the fantasy allure.

 —

 Behind the Scene:

The author leans heavily into the ‘Group Summoning’ trope, a popular sub-genre of Isekai that allows for diverse character archetypes and immediate interpersonal conflict. The specific detail about hair and nails for ‘resurrection return’ is a clever narrative device to lower the stakes for the characters while keeping them bound to the Princess’s influence.

4 Skill: Specialized supernatural abilities or passive buffs granted to individuals in this game-like reality.

5 Job: Also known as a ‘Job’ or ‘Class,’ this determines an individual’s growth, stats, and role within the world’s power structure.
