”Even so, my back really hurts-ssu,” Koshino grumbled. Sara-san responded immediately.
”Is something wrong? If it’s something we can fix, we’ll do it right away.”
”Ah, no. It’s probably too hard. The bed was so stiff it was tough to sleep. I woke up this morning still feeling like I haven’t rested at all.”
”I see… There are no craftsmen in our country who can make a mattress better than what we have. Even Her Highness¹ uses the same ones. Does that mean Japan has even better mattresses?”
”Yeah, there are all kinds of firmness, and they support the body properly,” Koshino said.
”Is that so… That is a bit difficult. To be honest, most of our main industries rely on what the Summoned Ones know. However, I have never heard of a Job² like ‘Bedding Maker.’ It would be great if someone knew how to make mattresses…”
”I don’t think anyone like that exists. At least, not in our class,” Koshino replied.
”I think so too,” I added.
”Right… Did Anma-san and Nishiyama-san also have a hard time sleeping?” Sara-san asked.
I definitely had a hard time, but it wasn’t the bed—it was because I was so excited. I can’t really say that. While I was thinking of an excuse, Nishiyama-sensei spoke up first.
”I didn’t feel anything special. The bedding might have been hard, but I slept sound-ssu ly and don’t feel tired at all. It was a very good sleep-ssu.”
”Wait, really? Sensei. Uh—maybe it’s just me…” Koshino wondered.
”Let me go check on something. Please excuse me.”
Before I knew it, Sara-san had finished eating and was clearing the dishes. She seemed to go talk to the other maid. Since we had some free time, Koshino talked to me.
”So, how was it for you, Anma? Easy to sleep?”
”No, the bed was hard and I don’t think it was easy to sleep. But I was tired anyway, so I just fell over and went to sleep,” I replied.
”Hmm, well, I guess so. We were so shocked and tired yesterday,” Koshino said.
Just as Koshino was satisfied with that, Sara-san came back. She looked a bit confused. Koshino asked her without any hesitation.
”How was it, Sara-san? What did the others say?”
”Well, everyone else said they had a hard time sleeping. We might need to think about how we develop bedding in this country. But I’m curious about Nishiyama-san’s words. Please wait a bit, I’ll go check on a lead right now.”
”A lead?” Koshino asked.
By the time we asked, Sara-san was already gone like the wind. Even so, not a single speck of dust moved. I wonder where she went. Koshino and I looked at each other.
By the way, Koshino and I are almost done with our food, but Sensei hasn’t even finished half. She eats very slowly. It’s really cute.
”Koshino, are you cooking this afternoon too?” I asked.
”Yeah. This country has a lot of food, and they told me I could use as much as I want. I might make some sweets for a snack.”
”Oh, you can make sweets too?”
”It’s still cooking. For now, I’ll look through recipes from previous Summoned Ones and find something new. I’d like to leave a new recipe for them if I can.”
Is she a saint? Yeah, she’s a good person.
”Sensei, what are your plans for the afternoon?”
”Chew, chew… gulp. I’m going to help Kuroki-san. I heard other cooks are helping Koshino-san, but they asked us to handle Kuroki-san’s work ourselves. We need more help. It’s a desi—of a new bra that doesn’t exist here—”
”Stop, stop, stop! Sensei, no! What are you telling the boys!” Koshino yelled.
Sensei’s mouth was covered from every side. It was a wild scene. I bet it would feel good to be in the middle of that. For now, I moved a plate that was about to fall.
While I was just watching, Koshino glared at me.
”Forget what you just heard, Anma. Got it? If you can’t, I’ll hit you until you forget,” Koshino threatened.
”…Yeah, sure.”
”Good.”
Next to me, Sensei was getting a lecture from the Class President. The other maid is laughing at you all. Sensei is still eating, so please be nice.
Sensei went back to her meal. I should probably stop talking to her so she can finish. It would be bad if she got even slower.
By the way, the girls all say ‘Itadakimasu’ and ‘Gochisousama’ together. Everyone but Sensei is finished and just talking. I thought they might be told to work, but the maid is just smiling, so I guess it’s fine.
Just as Sensei was finishing, Sara-san came back. I wonder if her lead worked out.
