Chapter 250 Triple the Brilliance, Triple the Beauty

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”It’s done… finally…” Satsuki sighed.

”It really is, isn’t it…?” Marsetta-san added wearily.

”Yeah. We actually finished it…” I said.

”Hey, hey! It’s way too early to call it finished!” Kushe interjected. “The ‘Ddo-Buddy Cannon’¹ can get way, way stronger than this!”

We were on the walk home, finally seeing the completion of our project after a relentless string of all-nighters. The four of us – myself; Satsuki, the Royal Mage²; Marsetta-san, my senior; and Kushe, the Chief Royal Mage of Coalmine – traveled the moonlit path, bathed in the heavy, warm glow of a job well done.

Well, everyone except Kushe. She seemed to have energy to spare, muttering about parts she still wanted to tweak. Given that her seemingly infinite obsession with research was the engine that drove this entire development, I decided not to rain on her parade.

”You’re all heading west immediately, right?” I asked.

”That’s the plan,” Satsuki replied. “We’ve got tomorrow for prep, but we’re expected to move out of the capital by the morning after.”

”The Queen is a slave-driver as usual,” Marsetta-san added with a tired smile. “I get why, but leaving the research, development, and the field operation entirely to the Royal Mages is a lot to ask…”

”I’m stoked, though!” Kushe chirped. “We finally get to see what the ‘Ddo-Buddy Cannon’ can really do! I’m gonna test-fire it every chance I get on the road!”

”Don’t go overboard, okay?” Satsuki warned. “Without Kento around, I don’t think I can actually stop you, Kushe…”

”I heard Ku-chan has a rap sheet for accidentally obliterating the ‘Matomeru-kun’ prototype,” Marsetta-san teased. “Satsuki, you and I are the final line of defense. We’ve got this.”

”Satsuki and Maru-maru, you’re so mean! Even I know how to read the room,” Kushe pouted. “It’s just that sometimes my mental limiter… slips.”

DON’T LET IT SLIP! we all shouted in unison.

Over the course of the project, the three of them had become incredibly close. Trading heated debates and sharing the trenches of development had been more than enough to forge a friendship that transcended national borders.

I noticed they treated Marsetta-san with a sort of affectionate reverence – calling her by a cute nickname while clearly looking up to her. She was definitely the anchor of the group. I’d have to pull her aside later to give her a proper warning, but I trusted her to keep the reins tight.

Eventually, we reached the fork in the road leading to Marsetta-san’s house. It was a prime piece of real estate near the palace – clearly, being a high-ranking mage paid well. As we prepared to part ways, she turned to Kushe.

”Now, now, Ku-chan. You’re heading back to the palace, right? Don’t be a third wheel,” Marsetta-san said. “These two probably want tonight all to themselves before the big trip…”

 Eh? we all blurted out.

 ”Eh?” Marsetta-san blinked, confused.

The three of us stood there in sync. Satsuki and I had fully intended to bring Kushe back to our place so we could all spend the final night together. Marsetta-san stood frozen for a beat, the gears turning, before a look of realization dawned on her face.

”Oh… oh. So that’s how it is,” Marsetta-san murmured. “I knew about Satsuki, obviously, but Ku-chan too? Lord Harvest, you certainly move fast, don’t you? She is a foreign dignitary, you realize…?”

”Ah, haha… well, you see,” I rubbed the back of my head. “She mentioned wanting to learn more about our ‘specialized inventory,’ and one thing led to another…”

”And here I thought Ku-chan just didn’t understand personal space,” Marsetta-san muttered, a strange shadow crossing her face. “Wait… does that mean I’m the only one being left out here?”

”No, it’s not like that. It just… happened,” I replied. “But, well… if you’re interested, Marsetta-san, would you like to come along too?”

 ”Me…?” she asked, breathless.

I meant it half as a joke, but Marsetta-san actually crossed her arms, letting out a contemplative hum.

Did I just do that? Satsuki gave my cheek a sharp, “you-idiot” pinch, while Kushe giggled and pinched the other side just for the fun of it.

 And then…

 ”I… if I wouldn’t be a bother…” Marsetta-san whispered.

Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, and her voice was decidedly serious. My face was now being pulled even happened harder from both directions.

The walk the rest of the way was an experience. I led the pack, followed by a fidgeting, shy Marsetta-san, a skeptical Satsuki asking her “Are you sure about this?”, and a perpetually beaming Kushe.

I took the hits – the whispers of “lecher,”

”beast,” and “degenerate” – with a grin. I could afford to be the villain. After all, I had successfully managed to spirit away the three brightest stars of the Canaria Kingdom³ and Coalmine Kingdom to my private lab.

”Um, well… it’s been so, so long for me, and I’ve never actually… you know, with a group, so please forgive me if I’m awkward, okay?” Marsetta-san began spiraling, her words tripping over each other. “Wait, can I even keep up? Lord Harvest has so many young, cute girls around him. I’m just a work-obsessed woman past her prime, there’s no way I can compete with girls like Satsuki or Ku-chan… right? If I were still a student, maybe I’d have some confidence, but now – wait! Lord Harvest?!”

I didn’t let her finish. I swept her up into a princess carry, cutting off her self-deprecating ramble, and carried her straight to the bed. I felt like the ultimate bad guy, but I wasn’t about to let her keep talking herself down.

To be honest, I’ve always had a thing for women who are passionate about their work. In this world’s eyes, she might be “older,” but to me, she was just a stunning, mature woman.

”Don’t worry,” I said, catching her gaze. “I’ve been eyeing you the whole time.”

”He’s not lying,” Satsuki added, though I heard a hint of a pout in her voice. “Kento has always had a weakness for beautiful, older sisters.”

Busted. I’d tried to keep it a secret how much I enjoyed watching Marsetta-san lose her professional cool – the way she’d drop a curse word or the way she’d absentmindedly scratch her chest when she was tired. I laid her down gently on the sheets.

”It’s like Satsuki said. I’m the one who invited you, so lose the nerves,” I said softly. “You’re gorgeous, Marsetta-san. So gorgeous I’m still struggling to drop the polite speech.”

”Now that you mention it… you have been very formal,” she whispered, her face heating up as she looked up at me, a shy, self-conscious laugh tugging at her lips. “If the famously debauched Lord Harvest thinks I’m worth his time… maybe I haven’t lost my touch after all.”

The sight of her like that – vulnerable and hopeful – hit me like a physical wave. I leaned down, my voice dropping to a low, serious register.

 ”Then we’re good? Marsetta.”

 ”Y-Yes…!” she squeaked.

That tiny, adorable sound was all the permission I needed. I nipped at her earlobe, ignoring her startled gasp as I began to trace the lines of her body – her shoulder, the back of her hand, the curve of her thigh.

”Wait – aren’t you a little too good at this, Lord Harvest?!” she gasped. “B-Be gentle…!”

”Not a chance,” I murmured. “If you’re looking for someone to blame, blame yourself for following a man like me home.”

 ”Ah… wait, mmmph?!”

I captured her lips, and she met me with a desperate, clumsy heat. She clearly wasn’t as experienced as the girls at the shop, but that only made it better. How had the men of this world left a woman this beautiful so untouched?

”Oh boy, they’re already at it,” Kushe chirped, leaning over us. “Satsuki, you wanna make out too?”

”Pass. I don’t swing that way,” Satsuki replied.

”I don’t either, usually! But I did a lot of ‘independent study’ with Flearis,” Kushe said. “Besides, girls are so soft and cute. It’s a different kind of fun!”

”You are way too into this! Hey – wait!” Satsuki cried out.

Satsuki tried to dodge Kushe’s sudden pounce, eventually rolling onto the bed next to me. Kushe followed immediately, pressing her soft, well-fed curves against my side.

”Marsetta-san, brace yourself,” Satsuki warned, her breath hitching. “Kento is… a lot.”

”Mm-hmm, he’s incredible,” Kushe added, her eyes sparkling. “You might not be able to walk tomorrow!”

”Hahaha… well, that sounds… terrifying,” Marsetta-san said, though she didn’t pull away.

And so, our final all-nighter began. But looking into their eyes, it was clear that despite their words, they were all burning with the exact same feverish expectation.

 Summary:

Following the completion of the Ddo-Buddy Cannon, Kento and his group of mages walk home in celebration. Marsetta-san initially expects Satsuki and Kento to be alone, but realizes Kushe is already part of the intimate dynamic. Kento takes the opportunity to invite Marsetta-san to join them, leading to an evening involving all three women. The chapter ends as they settle in for a night of passion, overcoming Marsetta’s insecurities.

 Character Insight:

Marsetta-san experiences significant vulnerability as she confronts her feelings of being ‘past her prime’ in a profession that has consumed her youth. Her acceptance of Kento’s invitation marks a shift from her purely professional senior role to acknowledging her personal desires. Kento displays tactical emotional intelligence by using a ‘princess carry’ to interrupt her self-deprecating spiral, reinforcing her sense of femininity.

 Behind the Scene:

The title ‘Triple the Brilliance, Triple the Beauty’ reflects the rare intersection of three high-ranking mages from different nations in one intimate setting.

 —

 T/L:

1 Ddo-Buddy Cannon: A magical weapon recently completed by the protagonists.

2 Royal Mage: A high-ranking magical officer serving the crown.

3 Canaria Kingdom: The nation where the current story arc takes place.

4 Coalmine Kingdom: A neighboring nation known for its chief mages.

Notes:

• Satsuki – A talented Court Mage who was forced to analyze the shop’s adult magic tools. Miranda’s granddaughter. Now she’s the new worker at Harvest, a development she finds both humiliating and surprisingly fulfilling due to the rapid progress in her research under Kento’s guidance. Has long black hair, palace mage robe, and staff.

• Marsetta – A senior court mage and specialist in magical weaponry. She has disheveled hair tied back, wears glasses, and has deep dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep. She hasn’t eaten in two days and is under heavy pressure to find a countermeasure for the enemy’s weapons.

• Kushe – The Chief Mage of the Coalmine Kingdom. She has dark green hair grown out haphazardly and wears a mage robe loosely over her shoulders. She has a blunt, informal, and somewhat insensitive personality, focused on her ‘thinking experiments.’

• Kento – The owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ which discretely sells adult goods. He’s a former overworked, ordinary salaryman from modern Japan who was suddenly transported (isekai’d) to this fantasy world. He has dark hair and an unremarkable appearance, typically wearing a plain, slightly suspicious-looking shop owner’s clothes looks like Kazuma Satou from certain series. He has a minimal amount of magic power, enough to craft his specialty items.

• Flearis – A member of the diplomatic envoy and guard. Has pink hair.
