Chapter 64 Lil ⑫

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The place Himezaki-san led us to was a single shop. It was quite busy, but for some reason, the clientele was split between two groups: Monster Hunter or mercenary types, and housewives and domestic servants.

The sign read ‘Odd-Jobs Dekoboku¹.’ I recognized that name. It was the name of a shop two of my friends had run in a certain MMORPG.

”What’s this? Is this the lead we’re following?” Mime asked.

”It totally is~ Reese-chan is always using this place, isn’t she~?”

”Do Mime and Alisha know this place too?”

”Yeah. It’s a shop that’s become famous lately. Great selection-it’s a good spot.”

”Plus, the shop assistants are so cute they look like dolls.”

Apparently, it was a very famous establishment.

”There are too many people at the front, so let’s go in through the back entrance.”

Himezaki-san guided us toward the rear. She must have visited many times; she opened the service entrance door without even knocking.

 ”Tate-, Yoko-, you have guests~!”

”Guests… for us personally-de gozaru ka?”

”Wait, wait a second-da na. I’m right in the middle of summoning some new vegetable seedlings-da na… Alright, done-da na.”

I heard those unique speech patterns from inside. Ah, just as I thought-it’s those two.

”Very sorry-de gozaru. We’ve been so busy lately…”

”D-do you have business with us…?”

A lanky, skinny guy and a short, perfectly round one turned to look at us. They spotted Lil first and let out a joyful shout. “Whoa! A beast-eared girl! Jack-pot!” Next, they saw Honoka and took a step back. “Ugh, Lady Narumi…” But the moment they saw me, they froze in place.

 ”No way…”

 ”It can’t be…”

 ”Sasaki-dono (shi)~!!”

They both burst into tears and tried to lung at me for a hug, but I smoothly sidestepped them. Their bodies, with nowhere to go, kissed the ground spectacularly.

”Th-that was supposed to be a moving reunion-de gozarou ga! Why did you dodge-de gozaru ka?!”

 ”I’m not into man-hugs!”

”I’m not either-da na. The only one who would enjoy that is that fujoshi², Yamihama-joshi-da na.”

”Even Yamihama wouldn’t be into that!”

Lil and the others were stunned by our exchange. Honoka, who at least knew we were friends, looked more exasperated than anything. Himezaki-san watched us and giggled. “You guys really are close,” she said.

* * *

 ”I see… so that’s how it was-de gozaru ka…”

After being shown to the reception room, I told Tatei and Yokoo everything that had happened. I felt a bit bad for Mime and the others, but I had them wait out in the shop. Honestly, I didn’t want them hearing too much about me or Lil.

”Still, I’m wearing a mask. How did you know it was me immediately?”

”Even if you try to hide with a mask, you’re a dead giveaway to us-de gozaru yo.”

”If we couldn’t see through that, we’d fail as your friends-da na.”

I guess close friends can always tell. It seems the trope of masked characters keeping their identity secret is strictly for fiction. In reality, no one besides these two had caught on…

”But are you really going by the name ‘Sieben’ here too-de gozaru ka?”

”It was the only alias I could come up with.”

”Hey, I’ve been wondering… why ‘Sieben’ anyway? If you use the full name, it’s Seven (Sieben) Deadly Sins (Todsünden), right?”

Himezaki-san chimed in. She must have been curious for a while. It wasn’t a huge secret, so I figured I could tell her. Tatei and Yokoo already knew.

”My name… ‘Natsumi’… was originally supposed to be written with the characters for ‘Seven Sins.’ But apparently, it wouldn’t pass the registration, so they had to use katakana instead.”

”Wait, what?! Master’s name had that kind of meaning?! That’s… I shouldn’t say it, but isn’t that a total ‘flashy’ name³…?”

It was understandable that Honoka thought so. I thought the same thing myself.

”I see. So that’s why… but why use a fake name now?”

”A few reasons. First, I want to keep the fact that I’m alive a secret. On top of that, I want to make a name for myself as much as possible… for the sake of my Vengeance.”

The room went silent at my last word.

”I know it sounds like a hollow sentiment, but Vengeance doesn’t produce anything. You should stop…”

”What Sugita and his group did was certainly excessive-de gozaru ga…”

”Vengeance just isn’t like you-da na.”

Himezaki-san and the duo tried to talk me out of it. But I had already started. I had already committed. Besides…

”They left me to die and are living their lives without a care in the world. I can’t just forgive that.”

 ”…”

”I’m not asking for your help. Just don’t get in my way.”

After a long silence, Tatei spoke up.

”I understand-de gozaru yo. I can’t forgive them for leaving my soulmate to die, either-de gozaru kara na.”

 ”I don’t know if I can do anything… but I want to help-da na.”

 ”Tatei, Yokoo… even you two?”

”Are you two really going to help with his Vengeance?”

”To be honest, I can’t be as detached as Sasaki-dono-or rather, Sieben-dono-de gozaru yo. But I’ve been through hell too-de gozaru kara na.”

”I can understand Sieben-shi’s feelings too-da na. Besides… we’re weak-da na. If I think of Sieben-shi doing this in our place… well. Plus, doesn’t Reese-shi have someone they want Vengeance on too? Da na.”

 ”That is…”

I remembered that Himezaki-san had been targeted and bullied by Tenkouin from her very first day of school. And then there were Sugita and the others…

”Sigh… fine, I get it. But I won’t be an active part of this. Just let me know when you need help. I need to prepare myself mentally.”

Himezaki-san was reluctant, but she was willing to cooperate. Well, I didn’t plan on involving her in anything other than dealing with Tenkouin and Sugita’s group anyway.

”So, you didn’t just come here to talk about this, did you-de gozarou? What do you want us to do-de gozaru ka?”

* * *

”What, is that all-de gozaru ka? Since it’s a request from my best friend, I’ll do it. No problem-de gozaru yo.”

”And our shop will prosper even more-da na. It’s a total win-win-da na.”

They agreed to the Clan sponsorship immediately. Apparently, they had been doing something similar for Himezaki-san, and the scale was just moving from an individual to a Clan. In other words, we would procure our equipment here, which would serve as a great advertisement for them. It was exactly what I wanted.

We decided to have our new gear made right away. I provided the materials I had gathered so far.

”Holy Dragon claws and scales?! And are these Fire Wyvern and Ice Wyvern claws-de gozaru ka?! Put the Wyverns aside, Holy Dragon parts are legendary-tier materials-de gozaru zo!”

”I got them from the source. Well, the dragon himself.”

”What is that supposed to mean-de gozaru ka…?”

”Sieben-kun, you didn’t say a word about that!”

”You didn’t ask. Anyway, can you do it?”

”I can make the items you want… but as for a full set of weapons for Sieben-dono, we’re a bit short on materials-de gozaru na.”

For me, I requested two arming swords, two greatswords, two daggers, and two rapiers, leaving the armor design to them. For Lil, gauntlets with claws and sturdy, mobile clothing. For Leki, a breastplate. For Honoka, a custom-designed maid outfit.

”We’ll start with Lil-dono’s. For the gauntlets, we’ll use the Fire and Ice Wyvern claws. For the clothes, demon silk and… Lil-dono, may I borrow a single strand of your hair-de gozaru ka?”

 ”? Sure?”

Lil plucked a strand of hair and handed it to Tatei.

 ”Thank you-de gozaru. Now, watch…”

Using his unique skill ‘Materialization Alchemy,’ Tatei wove the clothes for Lil.

 ”H-how do I look?”

Lil asked, her face turning red with embarrassment.

”Yeah. It looks great on you.”

Lil’s outfit was a blue China dress with a high slit revealing her right thigh. A white wolf was embroidered on it. Tatei mentioned a “trick” was built into it, but I wasn’t sure what. The gauntlets had retractable claws-fire on the right and ice on the left. Unlike Akiyama’s Magic Sword, these were just naturally imbued with the elements. She also had boots that fit her perfectly. She looked… very seductive. By the way, I couldn’t see what I should be able to see through that slit. Is she even wearing anything?

Next, he forged Leki’s breastplate out of Holy Dragon scales. A truly luxurious piece. Leki’s favorite greataxe just got an enchantment; he liked the original too much to replace it.

 And then…

”Are you serious about this design-de gozaru ka?”

”Yes. I wanted to please Master…”

”Master?! Lady Narumi, haven’t you changed too much-de gozaran ka?! Sieben-dono, what did you do to her?!”

 ”Well… [mumble mumble]…”

”What are you actually doing-de gozaru ka, Sieben-dono?!”

 Yeah, well.

At any rate, the result was…

”Ehehe. What do you think, Master?”

 ”It’s… incredibly erotic…”

I accidentally slipped into polite speech. On her head was a white brim, with a classic navy blue dress. White gloves and garter stockings. From the front, it was a short, sleeveless maid outfit, but from the side, her side-boob was fully visible. From the back, it looked like she was just wearing a skirt and an apron over nothing.

 It was… intense.

But I didn’t want anyone else seeing her like that, so I told her to wear a hood. By the way, she confirmed she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. That’s too dangerous.

 ”Are you an idiot?”

Himezaki-san asked, her gaze cold and piercing.

 —

 Summary:

Sasaki (Sieben) reunites with his old MMORPG friends, Tatei and Yokoo, who now run the shop ‘Odd-Jobs Dekoboku.’ After a humorous reunion, the conversation turns serious as Sasaki reveals his survival and his vow of vengeance. The friends agree to support his Clan through sponsorship and begin crafting legendary-tier equipment using Holy Dragon and Wyvern materials.

 —

 Trivia:

 - The shop name ‘Odd-Jobs Dekoboku’ is a direct link to Sasaki’s pre-isekai past.

 - Sasaki’s real name ‘Natsumi’ literally means ‘Seven Sins,’ which explains his choice of ‘Sieben.’

 - Tatei uses unique Materialization Alchemy that requires a component of the user (like Lil’s hair).

 - Honoka designed her own erotic maid outfit, signaling her complete mental shift/devotion.

 - Himezaki Reese also has a history of being bullied by the same group Sasaki is targeting

 —

 Character Insight:

Tatei and Yokoo display unwavering loyalty to Sasaki, accepting his dark path of vengeance despite their reservations. Honoka’s transition from a high-status target to a devoted ‘slave’ who designs her own provocative gear highlights her psychological surrender to Sasaki.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that Lil is actually wearing a G-string, and confirms that the choice for Honoka to design the outfit herself was a spontaneous narrative pivot.
