Chapter 128 Himuro Yukiko ④
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Lil, wake up. There are people.”
I lightly shake Lil, who has lost consciousness while clinging to me. But –
”Wafun¹… in that case, let’s show them how well you and I get along. Nngh… wan.”
She said that with a completely melted face. Well, it’s undeniable that I went too far, but staying like this would be bad. In many ways.
”Don’t talk in your sleep.”
”Aita!”
A light forehead flick. Lil holds her forehead with teary eyes.
”Are you awake? There are people outside. They are still far off, but they are on guard. They probably can’t see us yet… no, if they have ‘Hawk Eye’ or some kind of skill like that, I don’t know.”
”Ah… y-y-y-yes, you’re right!”
Lil hurriedly pulls away. With s**men dripping from her p**sy it is quite erotic, but I don’t have the luxury of worrying about that now. For now, I’ll straighten our disheveled clothes and use Lifestyle Magic² to clean the area around the driver’s seat and our clothes. The smell too.
”Lil, tell Mihiro and the others. I want to think it will be fine, but in the worst case, it might become a battle.”
”Yes, and what about you…?”
”I’m going to go talk to them for a bit.”
Saying that, I get out of the car and approach the group. From the fact that their equipment is unified, I think they are likely soldiers of Wrathfiria.
”Wait! Stay where you are. Raise your hands and state your rank and name!”
As I approached to a certain extent, a voice demanding identification reached my ears. Since there is still distance, they used the Wind Magic ‘Wind Voice’³. This sorcery sends a voice to a target within a radius of about three hundred meters, but it can actually also deliver the target’s voice back to the caster. Well, it is a substitute for a simple radio. By the way, I can use it too.
But “rank and name,” huh. I heard it was a mercenary nation, but it is more like a military nation.
The behavior is a bit Intimidation-like, but there is no need for me to get defensive either. Well, to show I have no hostility, I’ll follow what they say. I stay in place and raise both hands. Since the opponent belongs to another country’s military, I’ll try to respond with as polite language as possible.
”I am Sieben. I am not military, so I have no rank, but I am a Monster Hunter in Greedia. My rank is Black Iron⁴.”
”Black Iron!?”
I can hear the group break into a stir. There are few people at the Black Iron rank, but more than that, their ability is high. High enough that ordinary soldiers can’t compete.
”…What is a Black Iron rank Monster Hunter doing here?”
”Delivering food supplies. I was asked by Georg-shi of the Merchant Guild Foxia⁵.”
I am not lying. The true purpose is different, but there is no need to mention that.
”Is there something to prove that?”
”I have documents approved by Georg-shi… but is it necessary to show them?”
”Nuu…”
This kind of document isn’t something you just show to anyone recklessly. In fact, it is firmly sealed with wax.
”Then, something to prove your identity?”
”Monster Hunter tags if that’s fine.”
I brought out the tag that was hanging around my neck… as if taking it out of my Item Box. To confirm it, one soldier approaches and takes the tag in hand.
”It seems to be the real thing.”
”I’d rather hear how one would go about forging it.”
”Indeed.”
When I crack a joke, the soldier also snickers lightly. He must have trusted me through that. He takes me and heads toward the group.
”Sorry, we’ve had various things going on here too. Besides, when something like that approaches, we have no choice but to be on guard, right?”
A large man with brown hair reminiscent of a lion’s mane answers. He has a beard, and combined with his physique, he’s a giant of a man reminiscent of a bear. From the atmosphere, he’s probably the captain of this unit or something. He was the one who sent his voice over.
He wasn’t wrong. Only an idiot would let an unidentified vehicle approach without caution. His response is correct, and I don’t feel unpleasant about it.
”So, you’re delivering food supplies… but for heading to Draguoth, you’ve strayed from the path.”
As I thought. It is my first time in this land, and on top of that, it can’t be helped in this heavy blizzard. I really need to have Tatei create a car navigation system with GPS soon.
But I’m in trouble…
”By the way, what are you all going to do now? If you’re on your way back to Draguoth, I’d like to ask for directions…”
* * *
”I say, it’s bad of us to get a meal on top of you giving us a lift.”
In our journey together, Leonardo laughs boisterously as he bit into a whole steamed potato. His name is Leonardo, and as expected, he was the captain of that unit.
”Even so, this is delicious. I’ve never seen anything like this… oh, you’re drifting off the path.”
Pointed out by Leonardo, I correct the trajectory. By the way, what he is eating is a buttered potato. Originally, this is also supplies to be delivered, but since there are many, I am handing out one per person. Yes, one per person.
Leonardo is in the passenger seat as a guide, and the other unit members are relaxing in the back. Since they seem disciplined, big problems probably won’t occur… rather, it seems more likely that we’ll be the ones causing problems. Especially Lil.
”By the way, Major Leonardo -“
”Ah, just call me by name. In the first place, you’re not a person of our country. And I don’t need stiff language.”
”I see. Then I’ll take you up on that… Leonardo, what were you doing leading a squad? You don’t have to answer if you can’t.”
”Ah, it’s not exactly like that,” he answers while rubbing his goatee. “It’s an investigation of this blizzard. If possible, we wanted to eliminate the cause, but…”
”The cause? Wasn’t it a natural phenomenon?”
”No. You must have come through this blizzard from Greedia, right? Then you can probably imagine that this isn’t normal. This is the work of an Ice Spirit Beast summoned by a certain demon.”
”Ice Spirit Beast… Hræsvelgr⁶!?”
I am surprised by the truth that came out of Leonardo’s mouth. I didn’t think demons were involved. But with this, the unnaturalness of this blizzard made sense. After all, it hasn’t stopped once since we entered the blizzard zone. And for over eight days. Normally impossible. Of course, if this were an ultra-cold region where people couldn’t live, it might be possible, but at least in a land where people live, this weather is abnormal.
Spirit Beasts are high-tier elementals, said to rival Spirit Kings. Hræsvelgr is the ruler of ice. To be able to command something like that… this demon must be a monster in their own right.
”Incidentally, day by day, the blizzard zone is getting wider. At this rate, Draguoth will eventually be buried under the snow,” Leonardo lets out a sigh.
”But this blizzard is like a wall… or rather, a cage to shut Wrathfiria in.”
”A cage, huh? You hit the nail on the head. Well, we’ve still got some time before we’re totally buried. If we can find the bastard who started this and put him in the ground, we’ll be fine. But…”
”But you haven’t found them yet.”
”Exactly. It’s a real pain in the ass.”
Leonardo laughs boisterously again. It feels like the kind of laugh you use when you’re at the end of your rope.
”Hey, why did the demon decide to lock you guys in with a blizzard anyway?”
”Hm? Ah… well… I’m not sure if I should be the one to tell you.”
Leonardo groans with a frown.
”Look, if it’s a state secret -“
”No, it’s not like it’s a secret. It’s just… screw it. You’re better off knowing.”
Leonardo made up his mind and started to spill. The long and short of it was this: a few months ago, the King lost his mind and ordered an invasion of the Demon King’s Domain. The official reason was to seize fertile land. It sounds noble enough on paper, but the country was doing just fine. There was no reason to go stirring up a hornet’s nest. Then why skip the diplomacy and go straight for a suicide mission?
”Because he was sheltering the Hero. Apparently, he thought with the Hero on his side, he couldn’t lose.”
But the Hero refused. Something about ‘not being able to leave the Young Lady’s side’ or whatever.
Suzuki and Sato. They didn’t give a damn about anything except protecting Himuro. You’d think the King would call off the invasion once his trump card bailed, but he got stubborn. He sent the Wrathfiria army in alone…
”And they got slaughtered?”
”Exactly. And as soon as the survivors crawled back across the border, this blizzard started. Call it a parting gift. I know we’re the ones who started the fight, but I can’t stand seeing the civilians suffer for the King’s mistakes.”
What a total moron of a king.
”He wasn’t always like this,” Leonardo sighs. “He used to be ambitious, sure, but he was a damn good king. People used to call him the ‘Wise Emperor’. Man, I guess getting old just rots your brain.”
Leonardo sighs as if truly appalled.宫廷 The atmosphere in the palace is apparently quite bad. The rumors of the discord between the King and the first prince have reached as far as Greedia. Combine that with this never-ending blizzard, and the King’s approval rating is in the gutter.
Well, I’m honestly not interested in family feuds. My real goal is vengeance. Against Himuro, and the two lapdogs who served her – Suzuki and Sato.
Himuro was one thing, but Suzuki and Sato were the kind of scum who would beat us half to death just for Himuro speaking to us. Even Sugita had been put through the wringer once. I’d heard rumors that Himuro’s family were Yakuza. Even a guy like Sugita knew not to touch her.
And now, those three are holed up in the palace. I wondered if I could use this civil unrest to my advantage. Step one: bring Himuro Yukiko down. That would do the most damage to Suzuki and Sato, though it would probably be the hardest part of the plan. But seeing the look on those two’s faces when I steal Himuro away from them… that’s going to be a masterpiece.
I was lost in thought when a city surrounded by massive stone walls appeared through the white.
”There she is. That’s the capital of Wrathfiria: Draguoth.”

We’d finally made it.
Now, the real work begins.
—
Summary:
Sieben and Lil encounter a military patrol from Wrathfiria while lost in a blizzard. After proving his identity as a high-ranking Monster Hunter, Sieben gives a lift to the squad leader, Leonardo. They discuss the supernatural cause of the blizzard and the political instability of the kingdom.
—
Trivia:
- Sieben is using ‘Lifestyle Magic’ for cleaning, which suggests high utility of basic spells.
- The blizzard is not natural; it is a retaliatory ‘cage’ created by a demon’s Spirit Beast.
- Wrathfiria invaded the Demon King’s Domain expecting help from the Hero, who refused to participate.
- The ‘Hero’ (Suzuki/Sato/Himuro) are currently staying in the royal palace.
- Sieben’s primary motivation isn’t the delivery but a complex revenge plot involving ‘stealing’ Himuro from her protectors
—
Character Insight:
Sieben shows strategic patience by playing ‘polite merchant’ while internally calculating how to exploit a national crisis for personal revenge. Leonardo represents the disillusioned military class of a failing state.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author notes clarify that Wrathfiria is a unique meritocratic military state where ‘nobility’ exists only for a single generation, preventing hereditary power bloat but potentially leading to the current instability.
