Seven-Sins-Avenger 146

Chapter 146 Himuro Yukiko ㉑

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

When the big bird-monster breathed that blizzard, I got separated from Papa and the Mamas. Now, the only one here with me is this big, pale-skinned Mister with a bushy beard. I think they called him a Frost Giant? That’s a mouthful, so I’ll just call him Mister.

As for how big he is… maybe five Lekis? Or more? Anyway, he’s huge. And he’s swinging an equally huge club.

”Is Mister playing with Leki?” I asked.

Mister didn’t say anything. He just attacked.

I dodged him instantly, and the snow where I’d been standing just a second ago exploded.

”Whoa, amazing! Mister is super-strong!” Leki cheered.

But I wonder who’s stronger, Leki or Mister? I kind of want to find out. Oh, but wait—has Mister lost track of me? He’s lifting his club and staring around, looking all over the place.

”Hey, Misteeer! Leki is over heeeere!” I shouted.

I yelled as loud as I could so he’d know where I was. I wonder if he noticed?

He did. He turned toward me, and then, instead of swinging down, he swept his club along the ground in a massive upward swing. I didn’t even feel like dodging, so I just guarded, but he sent me flying anyway.

I didn’t even have time to think about a contest of strength. My body soared through the air until I was level with Mister’s eyes, and then—BAM!—he swatted me down with everything he had. Since I was mid-air, I couldn’t even brace for the impact.

I slammed into the dirt. Ouch. If the ground hadn’t been covered in snow, that really would’ve hurt.

But now I get it. This Mister isn’t stronger than Papa. In fact, he’s not even stronger than me. The only reason I flew away is because I’m light. I mean, even Honoka-onee-chan can pick me up like it’s nothing. She said she got stronger after being summoned, but she’s still one of the weak ones.

So for a guy as big as Mister, knocking me around is easy-peasy. He’s only as strong as his size suggests.

It did sting a little, though.

Conclusion: He’s a pushover. I should finish this quick.

Papa says that when you’re fighting a big opponent, you should always go for the legs first. I took a full swing with Grand Basher¹, aiming right for Mister’s heel.

The axe buried itself in his flesh with a sickening crunch. Then, Mister started screaming. I know it hurts, but he’s a boy, so I wish he wouldn’t be such a loudmouth about it.

Mister hoisted up his bleeding heel and started hopping around. Time for the other one! I made sure not to get stepped on and took another full swing right where he landed. Thwack! There goes the other heel.

With both heels gone, he couldn’t stay standing and dropped to his knees. It was still a little high up, but next, I chopped off Mister’s pee-pee. Papa said this is a man’s biggest weakness, and I guess he was right. He’s screaming even louder than before! He completely forgot about his heels and doubled over, clutching his crotch.

Now, Mister’s face—which was so high I couldn’t even see it before—was right in front of me. This part is easy.

Sigh. I thought he’d be tougher. He was just a big disappointment.

”Mister, you’re so weeeak,” Leki muttered.

I drove my axe right between his eyes. Papa taught me this is one of the body’s vital spots—the glabella. Or, to be more “professional,” the Uto². The axe sinks in, shattering his skull. Mister screams again. Seriously, he’s as annoying as a swarm of flies.

When I pulled the axe out, the blade was covered in thick, reddish-black goop.

I struck him one more time. Mister gave one last yell, and then he didn’t move anymore.

 ”Easy win! Peace!”

And with that, Leki struck her victory pose.

But nobody was there to see it… I feel kind of empty.

 ***

Hraesvelgr³. Commonly known as the White Dragon. This is no mere wyvern; it is a true, pureblood dragon.

True to its name, it is draped in ivory scales. It breathes frost instead of fire. Despite its elegant color, its temperament is notoriously bloodthirsty.

Naturally, slaying one grants a Hunter the coveted title of “Dragon Slayer.”

Right now, that dragon is circling above, glaring down at me—Mihiro.

I am alone. No Sieben, no Lil-san, no Leki-chan, not even Prince Leonardo. It’s just me. Which means I have to bring this Hraesvelgr down by myself.

My only weapons are the rapier and main-gauche custom-made for me by Tatei-kun. Both were forged from tamahagane—the same steel used for katanas. They are masterpieces: flexible, yet nearly unbreakable.

But against a dragon, they feel woefully inadequate. If I still had a greatsword like Sieben’s, things might be different, but my stature shrank when I was feminized, making such heavy weapons impossible to handle. My Status parameters haven’t changed, but when your physical dimensions shift, your fighting style has to shift with them.

The rapier and main-gauche were what I was most familiar with, but…

This might be a tall order.

I don’t really care about titles like “Dragon Slayer.” Being praised by Sieben is the only reward I need.

Wait… if I become a Dragon Slayer, will he praise me? Will he show me how much he loves me? Until I’m absolutely melting…

Okay. I’m pumped now. Let’s do this. For Sieben’s reward, this dragon has to die.

The dragon drew a deep breath, its chest swelling. It was preparing its breath attack.

For some reason, a dragon’s breath contains zero mana. Because of that, ‘Dispel’ is utterly useless against it. Sieben once tried to use a breath attack himself (how does he even do that?), and it couldn’t be negated. To survive a dragon’s breath, you either have to dodge the area of effect, block it physically, or strike the throat to force a misfire.

The first option was impossible since the dragon was airborne. The third was out of reach. That left…

 ”Fire Wall!” I shouted.

I’ll block the frost with a wall of flames!

The Ice Breath surged forward, but my wall of fire held firm.

So, what’s the dragon’s next move? Its options are limited.

It dived from the sky, aiming straight for me. A physical collision with a body that massive would be devastating.

Should I dodge? That mountain of scales gliding at high speed? Even if I dodged once, it’d just loop back. In that case…

 I won’t dodge. I’ll parry.

I know it’s reckless, but I’m doing it anyway.

The dragon hurtles down from the clouds. At the very last possible microsecond, I twisted my body and caught the impact on my main-gauche—not just to deflect, but to slice through as it passes.

 ”GU-GYAAAAAAAH!” the dragon shrieked.

Of course it did. It expected to crush me, not to take damage in return. More importantly, the sharpness of these blades is incredible; they actually carved through those reinforced scales. Though I only managed to nick the thin skin underneath, it was enough.

It seems the beast is capable of learning, as it refused to come back down. I can’t reach it with a sword while it was hovering up there.

Fortunately, I’m no slouch with sorcery, either. High-level sorcery, at that.

I manifested three spears of fire. They are worlds apart from a simple “Fire Arrow” in both scale and lethality. This is high-output, anti-personnel sorcery—the kind you’d never point at a human being.

 ”Flare Lance!”

The projectiles arched upward, skewering the Hraesvelgr’s wings and torso with perfect precision.

With a final roar, the dragon fell. It was a heavy blow, but dragons are stubborn; it likely wasn’t fatal yet. It pulled itself up, its neck snaking toward me with pure hatred in its eyes. It opened its maw, gathering frost for one last, desperate breath attack—

”Once you’re on the ground, you’re an easy target,” I muttered.

I lunged inside its reach, slipping into the breath’s blind spot. I drove my rapier deep into its throat, piercing all the way into its mouth. I triggered ‘Heat Blade’, the steel glowing white-hot as I ripped the blade sideways, tearing its throat open from the inside.

No matter how hard the exterior is, everything has a soft spot. I’ve struck the “inverse scale”. It’s over. Before the beast could even fly into a final death-throe rage, I sliced through its vitals. The Hraesvelgr collapsed, dead.

”Whew… I made it. Now… will Sieben praise me? Will he pet my head like he used to?”

I’m sure he will. No, even if he doesn’t, it’s fine. As long as he doesn’t throw me away.

Because being abandoned by Sieben… that would be a fate far worse than death.

 —

 Summary:

Leki gets separated from her group during a blizzard and effortlessly slays a Frost Giant through brutal precision. Meanwhile, Mihiro faces a powerful White Dragon, Hraesvelgr, alone. Driven by a desire for Sieben’s praise, Mihiro uses a combination of high-level fire sorcery and strategic swordplay to slay the beast.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Leki’s axe is named Grand Basher.

 - Mihiro’s current female form is due to feminization (nyotaika), which impacted their fighting style reach.

 - Dragons’ breaths in this world are non-magical and cannot be Dispelled.

 - Sieben possesses the ability to use dragon-like breath attacks.

 - The ‘Uto’ is a specific anatomical vital point (glabella).

 - Mihiro’s weapons were custom-made by a character named Tatei using high-grade steel

 —

 Character Insight:

Leki demonstrates a chilling lack of empathy, viewing a lethal battle as a ‘game’ and her opponent as ‘weak.’ Mihiro shows deep emotional dependency on Sieben, framing a life-or-death struggle against a dragon purely as a way to earn affection and avoid abandonment.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author references an old Japanese comedy act (umbrella spinning) for the New Year’s greeting. The name Hraesvelgr is taken from Norse mythology.

‘Papa and the Mamas’ sounds like a 70s band. I love the way Leki just thinks of every woman in the party as a mama.
