Chapter 151 Himuro Yukiko ㉖
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Suzuki! Look-the door’s wide open!” Sato’s voice boomed through the hallway.
”What?! How the hell did that happen?”
”How should I know! You weren’t sleeping on the job, were you?”
”Like hell I was! I just finished running that errand for the Lady a minute ago!”
”That’s… true. Then did we just forget to lock it?”
I shook my head. That was impossible. Just to be sure, I stepped into the room to check on her. There was no sign of her anywhere. The room was cold.
”She’s gone… when did she-? Sato!”
”Dammit! But who? Who would take her…?”
”Save it for later. She has to be in the castle somewhere. She can’t get far on her own. We’re going to search every inch of this place!”
We abandoned our post and sprinted through the corridors. We searched blindly, but the halls were eerie. We didn’t pass a single soul.
”Dammit, where is she?! Where are you?!”
”Maybe she’s in another wing,” Sato panted. “Or maybe she was kidnapped.”
”How? Without us noticing? The room wasn’t tossed, the windows were shut-and they’ve got bars anyway. No one’s getting in from the outside. But the door we were guarding just happens to open? Either she walked out herself, or someone in this castle led her out.”
”You’re right… look, there’s someone. Let’s make them talk.”
Finally, we found someone-a maid in a uniform, her skin a deep bronze. I lunged, grabbing her by the collar and slamming her against the stone wall.
”You! Where is the Lady?!”
”Guh…!” She let out a strangled wheeze, her eyes bulging. “The Lady… who…?”
”The girl with the white hair and red eyes! The one being kept here with us! Talk, or I’ll snap your neck!”
”H-ha… she’s… in His Majesty’s royal chambers¹…”
The King’s bedroom? Why would she be there? We didn’t even know where the damn room was; we’d been stuck guarding her quarters since we arrived.
”Where is it? Take us there. Now!”
”Y-yes! I’ll take you… just… let go… I can’t breathe…”
”Sato, let her go,” I muttered. “At this rate, the hag’s going to suffocate before we get there.”
I realized I was crushing her throat. I didn’t care about her, but I needed her alive. When I let go, she collapsed, coughing violently.
”Move. Lead us to the King.”
Terrified, the maid scrambled to her feet and led the way. Something about her face looked familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Not that it mattered.
* * *
The maid was agonizingly slow. She shook with every step, glancing back at us with pure terror. I knew I’d been rough, but so what? I was more worried about what was happening to the Lady.
”Pick up the pace, you useless bitch!”
”Hii-! Y-yes! I’m sorry!”
Every time Sato or I opened our mouths, she flinched. I clicked my tongue in annoyance. After what felt like an eternity, we reached the end of the hall. Two armored men stood guard before a set of massive, ornate doors.
”T-that’s it,” the maid whispered. “The Royal Guard²… that’s the King’s room.”
”Right. Thanks.”
”Gufu-!?”
I drove my fist into her stomach with everything I had. She doubled over, gasping, and lost consciousness before she hit the floor. She was lucky I didn’t kill her.
As we approached the doors, the two guards lowered their spears, crossing them to block our path.
”State your business. These are the King’s private quarters. No one passes.”
”Shut up. Move,” I said.
I drew my blade and pressed the tip against the guard’s throat. Even with full plate, the neck joint was a weak point. We were Heroes; we were stronger than these fossils.
”Step aside while you still can,” I warned.
”Never! We will die before we fail our King! Fall back!”
”Fine. Die then.”
I lunged. The blade slid into his throat with sickening ease. He let out a wet, gurgling cry and slumped over, dead before he hit the ground.
”You bastard!” the other guard screamed. “Guga-!”
He thrust his spear at me, but Sato’s ‘Aegis’³ kicked in. The strike hit an invisible wall and reflected with twice the force. The guard screamed as his own weapon pierced his chest. He fell to his knees, blood bubbling from his mouth.
”Ugh… help… someone…”
He was still breathing. I couldn’t have him raising the alarm, so I drove my sword through his neck to finish it. Idiots.
The path was clear. I kick the door open. They hit the walls with a thunderous crash, but I didn’t care. I marched into the room, Sato right behind me.
My heart stopped.
There, on the bed, a naked old man was on top of her. Her white hair was spread across the silk sheets, her legs wrapped around the old man’s waist as she gasped. The King was defiling her. Our Lady.
”You…?” The King looked back, his eyes narrowing. “How dare you break into my chambers? Do you know who I am?”
”You… you son of a bitch!” Sato screamed. “What did you do to her?!”
Rage turned my vision red. We didn’t wait. We fell upon the old man, hacking at his back.
”Argh! Stop! I am the King! You cannot do this-!”
”Shut the hell up!” I screamed, bringing my blade down again and again. “You touched her! I’ll kill you! Die! Die, you disgusting maggot!”
”Gyaaah! Stop-ghhh!”
He touched what was mine. Ours. Sato and I were possessed by a singular, murderous fury. I wanted to take his head off, but the blade kept catching on bone. I hacked and carved until finally, the head rolled away from the torso. Blood sprayed everywhere, a crimson fountain that soaked the bed and dyed the girl bright red.
Even in the middle of the carnage, she didn’t move. She just lay there, staring blankly, still holding onto the cooling corpse.
”Lady! Are you okay? We have to get out of here!”
”Nn… fua… eh…?”
I grabbed her hand to pull her off the bed, but she wouldn’t let go of him. It was then that the door burst open again.
”What happened to the guards?! What… wait… what are you doing?! Father?!”
A middle-aged man stood in the doorway, staring at the slaughter. Leonardo. I’d taken too long. I turned to kill him too, but he was faster.
”To arms! To arms! It’s a King-slayer! Everyone, to arms!”
Armored soldiers flooded the room, surrounding us with shields raised.
”These people are the culprits of the King-slaying! Capture them!”
”Ha!”
The soldiers pressed in. They were smart; they kept their shields up, trying to pin us down rather than swing at us. Sato’s ‘Aegis’ could reflect a strike, but it couldn’t stop them from simply crushing us against the wall with their weight.
”Suzuki, get her out of here!” Sato yelled.
”I’m trying! Lady, move! Get away from that old corpse!”
But Yukiko wouldn’t budge. She seemed catatonic, her body still locked in place even as the soldiers closed in. They were lower level than us, but there were too many. If we stayed, we were dead. I looked at the window. Sato saw it too.
”Tch! Change of plans. Suzuki, jump!”
”…Dammit! Lady, I’ll come back for you! I promise!”
We used Sato’s skill to blast the front line back, creating just enough space to sprint. We hit the glass at full speed, shattering the window as we plummeted into the night.
* * *
Leonardo peered out of the broken window. Below, the castle grounds were swallowed by darkness.
”As expected, they won’t be saved at this height.”
One of the guards talked to Leonardo.
The King’s bedroom was at the highest point of the spire. Normally, it was a death sentence.
”Those guys are Heroes. They won’t die that easily. Go! Search the grounds! Tell the gate guards to lock down every exit. Now!”
”Ha, haha!”
The guards scrambled out, heading for the courtyard below. Leonardo turned back to the bed. There lay the headless, butchered remains of King Josef XVII, and the girl, Yukiko, drenched in his blood.
-He’s a stupid father, truly. If he hadn’t harbored clumsy greed, it never would have ended like this.
Leonardo glanced at the remains of Josef XVII and exited the room to give instructions to the Soldiers.
Left alone in the silence, Yukiko finally uncurled her legs. She moved slowly, withdrawing from the corpse. She reached up, wiped a smear of warm blood from her cheek with her finger, and brought it to her lips.
”…It’s not delicious.”
She whispered it to the empty room. As she spoke, her lips parted, revealing canines that had grown far too long for any human-jagged, predatory fangs glinting in the moonlight.

Summary:
Sato and Suzuki find Yukiko missing from her room and track her to King Josef XVII’s bedroom. Discovering the King violating her, they murder him in a brutal rage. They are forced to flee the castle via a high-altitude jump, leaving a blood-stained and eerily changed Yukiko behind.
—
Trivia:
- The maid’s face seemed familiar to Suzuki, hinting at a past encounter.
- The windows in the original room had bars, meaning someone inside likely facilitated Yukiko’s ‘kidnapping’.
- Sato and Suzuki are high-level Heroes, making them physically superior to the guards despite the soldiers’ higher numerical levels.
- Leonardo shows zero grief for his father, suggesting he might have orchestrated or at least benefited from the situation.
- Yukiko’s canine teeth have physically transformed into fangs, confirming her non-human nature
—
Character Insight:
Suzuki and Sato show an obsessive, possessive form of ‘loyalty’ to Yukiko that borders on insanity. Yukiko herself shows a chilling dissociation, climaxing in her tasting the King’s blood and finding it ‘not delicious,’ marking her shift from victim to predator.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author uses the ‘Class Loser to Overlord’ trope to justify the protagonists’ extreme reactions and lack of moral restraint.
