Dungeon-Succubus-Tester 199

Chapter 199 Meanwhile, the Fugitives…

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

…… Tester Life: Day 72, Night. 6th Floor, Small Room. Kurokawa Jin ……

I sat in a cramped little room that held nothing but a single treasure chest, shoveling a late dinner into my mouth. Behind me, seven tents were crammed together, side-by-side.

Calling it “dinner” was a stretch – it was just a bento set. They came in easy-to-carry containers, so I had bought three of them to cover the whole day. Since I’d grabbed them all at once, every single one was fried chicken.

I kept watch while stuffing my face with cold poultry. A moment later, my classmate Sakuma crawled out from the tent next to mine. The two of us were scheduled to pull the late shift tonight. We had been rotating guards like this for three days straight. Goblins occasionally wandered into these side rooms, so we couldn’t afford to leave the entrance clear.

There had been “Monster Repellent Herbs”¹ in the Shop, but a set of five cost 2,000 DP. To make matters worse, the damn things only lasted three hours each. As for the “Warding Incense” – the stuff that actually worked – the censer alone was 30,000 DP, and the incense was another 5,000 per pop. It supposedly lasted twenty-four hours, but there was no way we could afford that kind of luxury.

Sakuma sat down next to me and started on his own bento. I had already finished mine, so I turned my gaze toward the door.

At the edge of my vision, my summoned kobold, Maru, stood guard with a pair of Greatshields. We had looted those from a chest back in the 4th Floor Guardian’s room. We’d barely scraped through that fight, but the 5th Floor Area Guardian had been on a different level entirely. It was a bloodbath. We eventually took it down, but two of our guys ended up in critical condition. I was just relieved no one had actually died.

After clearing the Area Guardian, we summoned the Soul-less Dolls² waiting outside and pushed through to the 6th Floor. No one would follow us here.

As for the “Nightmare” group we were worried about, they had made their stance clear. Papers were scattered everywhere stating they wouldn’t interfere with what we did last night. Honestly, I nearly wept with relief. If Nightmare had come for us, I was prepared to get on my hands and knees and grovel. There wasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell we could win against that Guard Captain and his monster kobold. My only move would have been to beg for mercy.

But the Guard Captain treasures his own Soul-less Doll, Sheena-san. It seems he understood our desperation. I figured he might have some sympathy, but the fact remains – we’re murderers. I knew there was a real chance he’d decide we were too dangerous to be left alive.

Because I had killed people. I killed Mimura and the classmates who were supposed to be my own party members.

Well, maybe the others survived if they managed to chug a Grade 4 Potion in time. But Mimura? I killed him. There was no doubt about that. Even now, I can still feel the sickening vibration in my hands from when I drove the blade into his back.

I stared at my trembling fingers. As I did, the memories of how it all went wrong started to flood back.

I had been playing the “good soldier” ever since we were at the academy. I avoided conflict, kept my head down, and made sure I didn’t make any enemies. To survive the social hierarchy, I spent my time catering to Kawai and his inner circle – the guys who had been at the top of the food chain since freshman year.

Even after we were abducted into this dungeon, I stayed proactive. I encouraged a catatonic Kawai and the others, formed a party, and somehow kept us breathing. Kawai reached out to some upperclassmen he knew, and together we pushed through to the 3rd Floor.

Then, luck finally found me. I earned a Wall-Butt³ reward.

I’d heard the rumors and had been holding my breath for it. After seeing the rabbit-eared beauty the Guard Captain led around, I devoted myself to the “Wall-Butt” girls every day, hoping I could get one of my own. There were times I couldn’t control myself – I’d licked their legs or rubbed myself against them when a girl with particularly beautiful legs appeared. As a foot-fetishist, I was terrified those urges would count against me.

 Apparently, it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

When I finally got the Resurrection Crystal, I was ecstatic. I poured my Mana Capacity into it and watched her manifest. What appeared was a slender beauty with shoulder-length red hair. She didn’t have rabbit ears or fox ears, just a normal human look.

I didn’t care. It was love at first sight.

Her name was Roa. She was twenty, slender, with legs that seemed to go on forever. At first, she only gave me one-word answers, and I was desperate to make her like me. But she was unresponsive. Or rather, she would just cling to me and try to tempt me. I eventually realized that when her Master was nearby, her “Crotch Tattoo” would flare up and force her into heat.

So, I took her. I obsessed over her legs and I held her. It wasn’t the first time for either of us, but it felt like heaven. As long as I had Roa, I could endure this hellish dungeon. I was completely hooked.

Once I had Roa, the only thing I looked forward to was going back to my room.

When we reached the 4th Floor, I followed the upperclassmen’s lead and joined a guild called “Road to Glory.” The leaders, Manda and Murakami, were pieces of work. Their lackey, Mimura, was even worse. But I kept my mouth shut and followed orders. I needed to feed Roa. I needed to buy her clothes and underwear. If I had to answer to some assholes to keep her happy, so be it.

Everything was fine. Until the Wall-Butt service was cut off.

Three days after the service stopped, everyone – starting with Kawai – began pressuring me to “share” Roa. I refused. Obviously. Who the hell hands over the woman they love?

That’s when the masks slipped. The “friends” I’d been helping, the “comrades” I’d survived with – their attitudes did a complete 180. They told me if I didn’t share her, I wouldn’t get a single cent from the Magic Stone hauls. When I threatened to quit the guild, Manda, Mimura, and their goons cornered me and beat me to a pulp.

”We’re all handing over our Soul-less Dolls for the good of the guild,” they spat. “Stop being a selfish prick.”

The worst part wasn’t the pain. It was seeing the upperclassmen I’d respected and the “friends” like Kawai joining in on the lynching. I was a bloody mess, but I still wouldn’t give her up.

Then Mimura grabbed my arm and forced me to open the door to my room. He looked at Roa and screamed, “If you don’t come out here, your Master is going to look like this every single day!”

I tried to tell her to stay inside, but Kawai and the others covered my mouth. I couldn’t make a sound. I told myself it didn’t matter – Roa didn’t have an ego. She wouldn’t understand.

But she came out. She saw me broken on the floor and she held me. When Mimura told her that I’d suffer every day unless she let them have her, she just nodded… and started taking off her clothes.

After that, she belonged to Mimura. She did it to protect me.

I was forced to watch her being gang-rap*d, and while I was drowning in my own powerlessness, Kawai and the others tried to force me to r*pe other Soul-less Dolls. Like I could even think about that while the woman I loved was being used right in front of me. I just curled into a ball and endured it until they were satisfied and left.

I thought about hiding in the room forever, but the food costs for two people were skyrocketing, doubling every ten days. I didn’t have the savings to go on strike.

The next morning, they gave me just enough Magic Stones to keep us from starving. They told me if I didn’t bring Roa to them at night, we’d die of hunger. I went back to the room, cried, apologized to her, and led her back to them.

We were slaves. Both of us. We were property to the monsters I once called my friends.

I hated them. But more than Mimura or Kawai, I hated myself. I hated that I couldn’t protect her.

That was when Manda got the idea to tail the “shut-in group” and ambush them at the 4th Floor Guardian room. I didn’t want to do it, but I knew Manda was still pissed about the time Koyama-senpai’s group had humilated them.

When the call came, I suppressed my guilt. Manda said if we cleared the 4th Floor, we could get to the 6th, where the Wall-Butt service would be restored. If that happened, maybe I could get Roa back. I told myself it was for her.

 Then came the ambush.

As we surrounded the exhausted “shut-ins,” a monster in ninja gear with a single horn on its head dropped out of nowhere. It unleashed a wave of fire that turned the corridor into an oven. I was on the edge of the blast, but the heat was so intense it seared the skin right off my face and neck.

I managed to choke down a Grade 5 Potion and stood up just in time to see everyone bolting. Kawai and the others were already gone, limping away without a backward glance at me. Mimura was on the ground, his arm completely severed. Manda and Murakami were nothing but charred corpses.

The Ogre Ninja vanished. I looked over at the “shut-in” group – they were already regrouping. If I stayed, I was dead.

I bolted like a bat out of hell. As I ran past Manda’s body, I saw a Mana-Sealing Crystal lying in the dirt. I snatched it up and sprinted for the teleportation circle. I used Kawai and the others as decoys while they were being mauled by kobolds and threw myself into the portal.

I made it back to my room and collapsed. Roa was there, waiting. She stayed up all night tending to the burns on my face.

I was at my breaking point. I just passed out.

By the next morning, the pain was bearable, though the scars were permanent. A map of my sins, I guess. I figured it was just the price I had to pay for trying to kill Koyama and the others.

While eating breakfast, I remembered the Magic Sealing Crystal I had obtained, and since the circumstances of how I picked it up were what they were, I decided to try an Item Appraisal using a Magic Crystal. When I did, I discovered that it was likely a tamed monster that Manda had been using. It seems that because the Owner of the blonde Doll died, it was reset, and it becomes the tamed monster of whoever pours Mana Capacity into it again. I named the Kobold “Maru,” and decided to keep it a secret from everyone that I had obtained a tamed monster. I think it was because I didn’t want anyone else to snatch it away from me.

The next morning. The Guard Captain stepped in to mediate, and I was informed that a truce had been reached with the former shut-in group. However, Eikou, the guild, having lost Manda and the others, naturally fractured. I wanted to leave the guild too, but there was no way Mimura would allow such a thing, and it wasn’t permitted. I thought about asking Nightmare for help, but I gave up after hearing that Koyama-senpai and the others had joined them. There’s no way they would accept me after I participated in the raid.

Mimura, whose arm had been reattached with a Grade 3 Potion, became the Guild Master and took over after losing Manda and the rest. But Mimura had become more violent than ever before. I think he was feeling cornered. Even when the 3rd years, who didn’t seem likely to listen to him, said they were leaving the guild, he just made them promise not to speak of the information regarding the 4th Floor Guardian and let them leave quietly; however, he didn’t allow those 2nd year and below to leave and made them submit through violence.

As for me, he ordered me to hand over Roa once again. Because the number of guild members had decreased, the burden on Roa was lessened, but the fact that she and I were slaves to Mimura and his group remained unchanged. Even so, the location of the 4th Floor Guardian room was identified. Rumor has it that the Ogre Ninja won’t appear unless a large group gathers. If that’s the case, they’ll probably challenge the Guardian again soon. If that happens, Roa will be freed too. By believing that, I just endured it all.

However, without any regard for my feelings, Mimura and his group—who had simply grown bored of just r**ing her—resorted to an atrocity.

”Hey, look at this, Kurokawa. Your doll’s p**sy is even gulping down a bat.”

”Oh, wow. I saw Mimura-kun’s doll gulping down a fist too, but to think something this thick could fit.”

”Gyahaha! Mimura-kun, her p**sy’s gonna get all loose.”

”Stupid, I’m stretching it out so she can give birth to kids in the future. Oh? Is this thing crying even though she has no ego? Is it humiliation? Hey, say something, doll.”

This bastard! My woman, who always stayed by my side even during the hard times! Roa, whom I had cherished all this time, dreaming that one day she’d be able to have a conversation like Sheena-san! Not satisfied with just raping her, they disgraced her and made her cry!

I was at my limit of endurance. I had given up, thinking there was no escape. I was trying to believe we’d be freed if we reached the 6th Floor. But the tears flowing from Roa’s hollow eyes dispelled such naive thoughts and roused my broken heart. Driven by surging rage, I lunged at Mimura to punch him. However, after landing one blow, I was counterattacked by Mimura, who was used to fighting, and his lackeys joined in, beating me to a pulp.

”Don’t get so serious over a mere doll, thug under boot!” Mimura spat that out and spat on my face, which was battered and covered in blood. Then Mimura, saying he was bored, took his lackeys and headed toward the other Soul-less Dolls. Left behind and held by Roa, I just stared blankly at the ceiling.

Ah… it’s no use anymore. I can’t stand Roa being hurt any further. I have no choice but to kill Mimura. That’s the only way to escape this hell. For Roa and me to be free… For the first time in my life, I truly intended to kill someone.

And once I decided to kill, the question of “how” came next. It’s simple. I should aim for when they are r**ing the Soul-less Dolls. During a gangbang, Mimura and the others aren’t carrying weapons. They’re always defenseless in their room-wear. Killing guys like that is easy. But what about after the killing? Can I take them all down? It’s impossible. There are always at least ten people here, and some who aren’t present. If I fail to kill them all, I’ll definitely face retaliation. Besides, I have someone to protect. It’s impossible to fight monsters and pursuers while protecting her.

Then what? This is also simple. If I can’t do it alone, I just need to make allies out of those in the same situation as me. I encounter the guys who are forced to provide their Soul-less Dolls when we wash our respective Soul-less Dolls’ bodies, which are covered in s**men at the spring after the gangbangs are over. There are classmates I’ve spoken to, even if they’re from different classes. I just need to bring them over to my side.

Having thought of that, after drinking a Potion, I staggered toward Takahashi, a classmate who was washing his Soul-less Doll’s body at the spring. Takahashi had talked to me during the school festival. He was a bright guy. But after joining the White Knight and being forced to provide his Soul-less Doll just like me, he now has a face devoid of emotion. I had a feeling this guy would definitely get on board with my plan.

While washing Roa’s body next to Takahashi, I whispered to him. I asked if he wanted to kill the guys who made toys out of our precious women and escape together. I know the location of the 4th Floor Guardian. If we defeat it and go to the 5th Floor, we won’t be pursued.

Takahashi stopped his hands from washing his Soul-less Doll, and stared at me intently with dark, clouded eyes. Then, with the corners of his mouth curling up, he replied with a smile, “I was planning to kill Coach Ueno and escape too.”

I felt a chill. Because I felt a clear murderous intent in Takahashi’s eyes and voice. But I feel the same way. I can do this with him. I was certain of it.

After that, Takahashi introduced me to Sakuma, who belonged to the same White Knight and was in the same track and field club. Sakuma, who was washing his Soul-less Doll while apologizing, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” jumped at my story. It seems he had been wanting to retaliate against the White Knight guys for a long time.

And so, the next day, we reached out to others in the same predicament and gathered four more allies. The fact that everyone except us was a 1st year was probably because they couldn’t defy their seniors. Kobayashi from Shuhari, and Miyazaki and Onuma, who each belonged to small guilds. The seven of us, including us 2nd years, made a plan and prepared for the raid and escape.

The day before executing the plan, we all went to the 4th Floor late at night and gathered Magic Stones for funds. We bought a tent with the DP remaining in the Magic Crystal, and bought Potions with the Magic Stones we earned. Then we stuffed as much Food and water as we could carry into our knapsacks.

The night of the execution. After handing over our respective Soul-less Dolls, we waited in our rooms equipped. And finally, it was time for the execution. With a drawn sword in hand, I dashed out of My Room, drowning out my aversion and fear of killing people by screaming.

 ”Mimuraaaaa!”

And then, I stabbed deeply into Mimura’s back from behind while he was swinging his hips against Roa.

 ”Gu-! K-Kuroka… wa… You bastard…”

”You disgraced Roa! I won’t forgive you! Die! Die and apologize, you piece of shit!”

I pulled out the sword while kicking Mimura, and drove the sword into the heart of the crouching Mimura who was clutching his chest.

 ”Ga-! No… way… for the sake of… a mere doll…”

”Wha-!? Kurokawa, what the hell are you do-gyaaaah! My arm! My armmm!”

”Ah, eh? Igih! M-my d**k… agaaaaaaah!”

 ”K-Kurokawa, you bastard! Guah… m-my stomach… s-stop! P-please don’t kill me!”

”Hie!? D-don’t come here! Don’t come near meeee! Gaha!”

Then I cut off the arm of one of Mimura’s lackeys, and after stabbing my sword into the crotch of another lackey who was frozen and unable to move due to the suddenness of it all, I slashed Kawai’s stomach. After that, I cut down every single guy who was around Roa.

In the corner of my vision, I saw Takahashi piercing Coach Ueno’s neck with a spear. Sakuma was also swinging a Greatshield around, and with a look of fury, he was stabbing the surrounding guys with a short spear. Screams could be heard from all over the Great Plaza. It seems the 1st years are doing it too.

”We’re escaping!” Seeing that few people were left standing in the Great Plaza, I shouted and took Roa’s hand, running toward the entrance to the Dungeon. Once everyone entered the dungeon, Doi, a 1st year, blocked the entrance/exit with Earth Wall, and we all attacked Miyazaki’s guild members who were gang-raping nearby. After retrieving Miyazaki and his Soul-less Doll, we headed toward the Teleportation Room.

Then we dove into the Teleportation Room, activated the Teleportation Circle, and headed to the 4th Floor. After that, leaving Miyazaki and the tamed monster Maru to guard Roa and the others, the six of us annihilated the Monster House. Thanks to the Earth Wall, Sakuma’s Greatshield, and the support from Kobayashi’s bow, we succeeded in taking down the Kobold in the Monster House one by one.

Since we didn’t need guards for the 4th Floor Guardian anymore, the seven of us and one animal were able to challenge it and defeat it, albeit with some injuries. That said, since we had exhausted our Mana Capacity, we camped on the 5th Floor that day to recover our Mana Capacity.

Then, the next morning. The seven of us entered the Area Guardian room and challenged the Kobold King. But the Kobold King was on another level compared to the other Guardians. Sakuma, who took a blow from the large machete, was blown away, and I also got a deep cut on my shoulder. Doi blocked the Kobold King’s path with Earth Wall until his Mana Capacity ran out, and an arrow fired by Kobayashi from a blind spot pierced him.

It was a battle that could truly be called a fight to the death. Even so, we managed to avoid any deaths, and although we had some seriously injured people, we were able to defeat the Kobold King. Thanks to that, we completely used up all the Grade 4 Potions we had prepared.

Then, searching for a safe place to rest on the 6th Floor, we found that goblins don’t pop in the small room with the treasure chest, and decided to hide out there.

”Kurokawa… are you still shaking?” While I was staring at my hands and reflecting on everything that had happened, Sakuma spoke to me with concern.

”I was just remembering when I slashed Mimura and the others.”

”I see… the day before yesterday was rough. We all threw up.”

 ”Though Takahashi was totally calm.”

”Haha, Takahashi’s already broken. At that time, right next to me, that guy was stabbing Coach over and over with a spear with a blank expression.”

”Did he hate him that much?”

”That guy… back in his first year, there was this senior he was crazy about,” Kurokawa said. “But the Coach cornered the guy. Told him he’d get him into the tournament—in exchange for what happened inside the track club’s equipment shed. Our school is packed with those ‘special scholarship’ kids, right? If they don’t produce results, they’re dead in the water. That piece of shit Coach used his position and his connections to prey on them every single year. The worst part is that on paper, it was ‘consensual.’ And to top it all off, Takahashi happened to walk in on them. It was just a one-sided crush, but it broke him. We spent weeks picking up the pieces until he finally seemed okay again. But now, even Mona—the Soul-less Doll who was his first—has been violated. It’s more than a man can take.”

”Are you for real…?” Sakuma muttered. “NTR’d twice? That’s brutal.”

”The guys in the guild… they ran Pola into the ground for me,” Sakuma continued, his voice shaking. “They forced her to take on twenty guys a day until she was at her breaking point. Those bastards Oida and Kume were supposed to be our teachers, but they wouldn’t lift a finger. They said she was just a doll, that she wasn’t human. I lost it. I stabbed them both. My only regret is that Oida wasn’t there to watch Kume die.”

 ”I see…” Kurokawa replied.

Pola-san was a blonde, mature beauty, after all. I could see why she was popular. But twenty a day? Even with the White Knights’ numbers, that was beyond depraved. They were going to break his woman. I understood why Sakuma snapped.

”Well, more importantly,” Sakuma said after a pause. “Kurokawa, we’ve only got one day of Food left. Same for the water.”

 ”Yeah.”

”When the Food runs out… are we really going to do it?”

 ”Yeah,” Kurokawa said firmly.

 ”I see… so we’re bandits now.”

”We can’t go back to the Room,” Kurokawa replied. “We don’t have a choice.”

If we couldn’t go back, the only way to survive was to take. If this were some lighthearted fantasy manga, we could just eat the dungeon monsters, but these things just turn to dust the second they die. That left us with only one option: we had to hunt the other testers.

”Are we going to kill again?” Sakuma asked.

”I’ll try to keep it as peaceful as possible,” Kurokawa said.

If they didn’t fight back, I didn’t want to kill them. But if they do… we aren’t strong enough to hold back. If it came to that, I’d just have to live with it.

”Right. Yeah,” Sakuma said. “There’s no turning back now anyway. We have to go all the way.”

”Exactly. We survive by taking. That’s the new rule,” Kurokawa said. “To do that, we need to get stronger on this floor. Starting tomorrow, we’re hunting goblins. I’m going to evolve Maru, too.”

”Got it,” Sakuma said, his eyes hardening. “We get strong enough so no one can ever touch us again.”

”Yeah,” Kurokawa promised. “I’m going to get strong. No matter what.”

I’d do anything to make sure Roa is never snatched away again. Whatever it takes. One day, I’ll be happy with Roa again-once she’s finally herself.

 Summary:

Kurokawa Jin reflects on his trauma and the events that led him to the 6th floor as a fugitive. After obtaining his Doll, Roa, his ‘friends’ and guild members betrayed and lynched him to force Roa into s*xual slavery. This cycle of abuse and a failed ambush on Koyama’s group eventually led him to commit murder and flee deeper into the dungeon.

Kurokawa reaches his breaking point after witnessing Mimura’s extreme humiliation of Roa. He recruits other victimized students to form a rebel group. They successfully assassinate the leadership of White Knight and escape into the deeper dungeon floors.

Kurokawa and Sakuma discuss the systemic abuse and s*xual predation prevalent at their former academy and within the White Knight guild. Facing starvation with only one day of supplies left, they resolve to abandon their morality. They decide to become bandits and prey on other ‘testers’ within the dungeon to survive.

 Character Insight:

Jin has transitioned from a passive observer of school social hierarchy to a desperate, traumatized murderer who feels that his facial scars are a ‘map of his sins.’

Kurokawa transitions from a passive observer to a cold-blooded killer. His motive shifts from survival to pure vengeance and the protection of Roa’s remaining dignity.

The protagonists undergo a dark ‘moral alignment’ shift; they move from being victims of a corrupt system to becoming perpetrators of violence as a survival mechanism.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that this chapter explores the ‘NTR group’ and the gritty details of their fall, warning readers with trauma regarding these themes.

The ‘Soul-less Doll’ mechanics imply that while they lack ego, they may still retain biological responses or deep-seated subconscious pain, as seen by Roa’s tears.

The story utilizes ‘Soul-less Dolls’ as a plot device to explore the dehumanization of companions in isekai/dungeon settings.
