”Understood,” she replied.
I sent Yamihama – currently in her Nyx form – back to the summon dimension. I’ll leave the details of that “use” aside for now.
It was time to face the Demon King. That meant leaving Greedia¹ behind again. First, I had to finalize the roster.
”So, about who’s coming with me…”
Everyone’s eyes snapped to mine. Some were desperate to join; others looked like they’d rather do anything than face a Demon King. My mind was already made up, though.
”Honoka and Mihiro are locks. Reese, you’re coming too.”
”Yes!” Reese cheered.
”I’ll do my best,” Mihiro said with a nod.
”W-wait, me too, arf?” Reese added, her ears twitching.
How long is she going to keep that “arf” habit up?
Regardless, Honoka is essential for healing, and Mihiro is an all-rounder who can handle anything. There was no reason to leave them out. As for Reese, while becoming a Demonic Wolf Knight² wasn’t exactly her choice, she’s significantly stronger than she used to be. And then there’s…

”Wait, me too?” Yukiko asked, blinking.
Since her evolution into a Blood-Sucking Ogre and becoming my Kin through Fallen Heaven³, Yukiko’s raw stats eclipse even Honoka and Mihiro. She’s an ice specialist, but she fits the caster slot perfectly.
”Sieben-dono, I also wish to go, de-gozaru,” Tatei said, bowing low.
”M-me too!” Yokoo chimed in.
I was surprised. Neither of them were combat types.
”Sieben-dono, we pushed the Prydwen⁴ hard during the last trek,” Tatei explained. “You’ll need a mechanic for maintenance, surely?”
He had a point. The snow had done a number on the chassis.
”And with me there, we’ll never run out of food!” Yokoo added.
Also true. The produce at the General Store Dekoboko⁵ is all summoned by Yokoo. I’d packed a month’s worth for the last trip, but there was no telling how long we’d be out this time.
”If Ko-chan goes, I go!” Alice shouted. “I won’t let anyone touch him!”
”If Ma-kun goes, I’m going too!” Sango countered. “It’s my job to protect him!”
Alice and Sango. Figures. Still, Alice’s Unique Skills are top-tier, and Sango is a powerhouse. They were the perfect bodyguards.
”Um… Dear. I want to…” Lil started.
”Sorry, Lil. Not this time,” I said.
”Wait… what?”
Lil froze.
”Do you think I’m not strong enough?” she asked, her voice trembling.
”No. You’re easily my best fighter. But you’re carrying my child, Lil.”
”Oh…”
”If something happened to you… if we lost the baby… could you live with that? Because I couldn’t.”
Lil looked down, her shoulders sagging. The frustration of being sidelined was written all over her face.
”Papa, what about Leki?”
”Leki, you stay here. I need you to protect Mama and your new sibling. Can you do that?”
”Yeah! I’ll protect them both! I promise!”
She’s a good kid. I’ll leave Orcus and Ishururu here to bolster the defense, too. After what happened with Sugita, I’m not taking chances. I’ll teleport back when we hit a landmark, but I can’t warp while the Prydwen is moving via Teleportation Gate⁶.
The roster was set. The next few days would be a blur of prep.
But even as everyone left, Lil stayed in her chair, staring at the floor.

That night, Lil was still holed up in her room. She hadn’t eaten. Leki was sleeping on her own for once.
”Lil, I’m coming in,” I said.
Silence. I let myself in anyway. The room was dim, mirroring her mood.
”Lil…”
”Dear…” she whispered. Tears were welling in her eyes. “To be so useless… right when you need me…”
”Lil, listen. You carrying my child makes me happier than anything. You’re the reason I can keep going. You’re doing more for me here than you ever could on a battlefield.”
I kissed her – a soft, lingering promise.
”I love you, Lil. More than anyone.”
I kissed her again, deeper this time.
”Men are like ships, Lil, and women are the harbor. No matter how rough the storm gets, the ship always has to come home to the docks. I need you to be my harbor. When I’m battered and broken, I need you here to welcome me back.”
”That’s unfair,” she sobbed, wiping her eyes. “How can I say no to that?”
The gloom finally lifted.
”I’ll wait for you. But… please come back often. I’ll be lonely.”
”I will. I’ll miss you too much to stay away.”
With teleportation, I could be back in a heartbeat. And while I had the others with me, Lil was the anchor. Always.
”Dear? Stay with me tonight? I just want to feel your warmth.”
I held her close that night, and we let the rest of the world disappear.

• Honoka – Petite, cute “transistor‑glamour” girl with high‑level healing magic, built like a tiny bomb of lewdness and huge breasts. Started as a cold‑hearted slave mocking Sasaki, then flipped into full devoted “Goshujin‑sama” maid mode, obsessed with his scent and desperate to bear his child. Used to be Hidaka’s obsession, later violated by Sugita, which left her furious and tightly protective of the protagonist. Bashful smiles, but the second anything touches him she goes nuclear. • Leki – Lil’s daughter. Height: 140 cm, B-W-H: 70, 54, 69. She looks more like a Siberian Husky puppy than a wolf. Honestly, she just looks like a stuffed toy, recently transformed into a human form. Now use great axe as weapon.
• Ishururu – A Dragon Priestess and suspected Elder Elf. Leader of the High Elves in the region. Appears as a young girl but is ageless. But actually, ancient Dragon in human form, small breasts, belly distended from breeding session.
• Sugita – Leader of the Sugita gang and main bully of Natsumi Sasaki, born into heavy police privilege—his grandfather is the Superintendent General, his father a Superintendent—so every mess he causes gets buried. Lean build, sharp features, that cold, arrogant “I can get away with it” stare. Wields the unique skill Steal (窃盗), which he uses to manipulate minds and control women. Once impersonated the hero Sieben with a mask and greatsword, but lost everything and dropped to Level 7. He’s a “Hero” cursed to die and resurrect endlessly—turned into a Lesser Vampire, executed, and ultimately erased from existence.
• Orcus – A former orc born from Yuko Oshiro and an orc. To be exact, he is a High Orc Brave. Now a ‘Rakshasa’ and Natsumi’s subordinate after being defeated. Over 190cm tall, muscular, bronze skin, messy long red hair. Wild, masculine features.
