Chapter 207 Yamato Hina and the Demon King Medinilla ⑫
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The City of Viede had been ravaged. Roughly one-tenth of the population had been sacrificed. Whether one considered that a staggering loss or a miraculous survival was hard to say, but at the very least, it was certain that the slaughter had ended.
It was no exaggeration to say the city owed its survival to the Renegade¹ clan led by the masked man. After all, one of their members was an old acquaintance.
The flow of the injured – specifically those with life-threatening wounds – moved in a steady stream toward a makeshift field hospital. There, in a facility resembling a front-line clinic…
”Resurrection!²“
A lone girl was treating a patient on the verge of death.
As she cast her spell, the body of a man who seemed beyond saving – his entire lower half missing – began to knit back together. Squeltch. Shloop. The flesh crawled and reformed like a video being played in reverse.
”A miracle…”
”It’s the Lady Saint! Truly, a Saint has come to us!”
The crowd showered her with praise, but the girl merely looked down with an embarrassed, humble smile.
”Please, don’t call me a Saint. I’m only doing what my Master told me to do,” she said quietly.
Her modesty only made them admire her more. Given her devotion, it was perhaps unavoidable. And above all, there was her sorcery. Resurrection was the highest tier of healing magic. It could mend any wound so long as the patient still drew breath. It was a spell so rare it was rumored no one left alive could cast it. The only drawback was the extreme exhaustion it caused the recipient; forcing a body to regenerate lost parts took a heavy toll. Still, it was a far better fate than death.
However, her outfit was hardly what one would expect of a “Saint.”
From the front, it looked like a sleeveless, miniskirted maid uniform – though calling it a uniform felt like a stretch. Looking closer, her breasts, quite well-developed despite her height, were visible from the sides of the garment. The back was even worse, left entirely open. From behind, she looked practically naked. It was an incredibly indecent display.
I never imagined I would find her here.
Narumi Honoka was one of my classmates summoned to this world alongside me. She had always been with Akiyama, Koganei, and Oshiro. I assumed they were still together, but I saw no sign of the others. It had been a full year since we last spoke. I figured I should at least offer a greeting.
”Narumi, it’s been a long time. Are you… doing okay?” I asked.
She spared me a single glance before turning back to her patient.
”Sorry. I have to heal these people right now. If you want to talk, do it later,” Narumi replied bluntly.
It couldn’t be helped, I suppose. There was still a long line of people waiting for her.
”I’m sorry. Is there anything I can do to help, then?” I asked.
”Then go help at the relief station. We’re desperately short-handed,” Narumi said.
”Understood.”
I nodded and caught the eye of Ise, who had followed me. Understanding immediately, Ise headed toward the food lines. There, a cute blonde girl in an apron and a girl with rabbit ears were busy serving meals.
”…Hmph. So you won’t even do it yourself.”
The voice was cold enough to chill my blood. I turned to find Narumi staring at me with a flat, emotionless expression – her eyes as vacant as a Noh mask.
”If you aren’t going to actually do anything, then get out of my way. I’m busy,” Narumi said.
I looked around. Everyone who could still move was working. They were bandaging light wounds, boiling water, or moving the dead. Suddenly, it felt like everyone was staring at me with those same cold eyes. It might have been my imagination, but the pressure was suffocating.
”I… I’ll go check on the rest of the city,” I muttered.
I turned and fled the scene like a coward.
* * *
”Ah, there she goes.”
I’d only meant to call out my old classmate, Yamato Hina, for trying to dump her work on Ise-san.
She practically ran away. Was I really that harsh? I replayed my words in my head.
’So you won’t even do it yourself.’
’If you aren’t going to actually do anything, then get out of my way.’
Yeah, my delivery was a bit sharp. If my Master ever spoke to me like that, I’d burst into tears. I’d wail and cling to him, begging him not to throw me away. And then my kind, brutal Master would give me the Training³ I deserve.
Hehe…
Wait! No! I don’t have time to get lost in my own head.
I should apologize to Yamato-san next time I see her. Tell her I’m sorry for being a bitch. Besides, ever since I became my Master’s Servitude⁴, I’ve basically stopped acting on my own. I just wait for his orders. Well, except for when it comes to our time at night.
It’s just easier when someone tells you what to do. Honestly, lately, just being ordered around by my Master makes me start dripping.
I know, I know. I’m a total pervert.
Anyway, stop daydreaming. I have to save these people. If I do well, he’ll praise me. He’ll pet my head. He’ll give me something that feels so good as a reward.
These people keep calling me a “Saint,” but they’ve got it all wrong.
I’m nothing that noble. I’m just a lewd little mutt who can’t think about anything but her Master. I’m a loyal female servant – a coward who only cares about herself and the man she belongs to.
