Chapter 210 Yamato Hina and The Demon King Medinilla ⑮

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Carmilla-san arrived with a formal request: she wanted us to retake Fort Misone¹. I didn’t have any reason to refuse, but I had a few questions to settle first.

”You mentioned you had a grasp of my abilities,” I said. “What exactly did Minette-san tell you?”

”Well…” Carmilla said, pausing. “She said you were powerful enough to repel the Heroes². Hidaka and Sugita, wasn’t it? Apparently, you crushed them with overwhelming force.”

I nodded. That sounded right. I’d beaten those two to a bloody pulp, after all. It wasn’t surprising the news had spread.

”The other girls following you are quite the collection of powerhouses, too,” Carmilla continued. “Narumi Honoka-san with her healing, Himuro Yukiko-san who specializes in ice magic, Yuki Mihiro-san who seems to have an answer for every situation, and the spear-wielder Himezaki Rieslett-san. I’ve never heard of a single Clan boasting this many experts – no, this many Heroes.”

”I suppose I should be honored by the praise,” I replied.

It didn’t feel bad to hear my comrades being evaluated so highly. Especially coming from Oribe – or rather, Carmilla-san – since I’d been a fan of hers back in the day.

”Alright, I’ll take the job. But I have a condition.”

”A condition? Not a reward?” Carmilla asked. “What is it? Speak your mind.”

”We’re on our way to the Demon King’s territory. We figured we’d pay the Demon King³ a little visit. To that end, I want the three Heroes currently in Envyos – Yamato Hina, Ise Maya, and Kagaya Mashiro – to accompany us. Naturally, they’ll assist in retaking the fort as well. That’s my condition.”

I didn’t think I was asking for the impossible, but Carmilla-san’s expression soured.

”What’s wrong?” I asked. “It’s not that big of a deal. Why the face?”

”It’s not impossible,” Carmilla replied. “But Sieben-kun, the rumors surrounding you and the Heroes aren’t exactly good. Most of the Heroes you involve yourself with end up dead or missing. People are actually happy about it since the current lot is so terrible, but there are exceptions. Yuki Chihiro-kun, for instance. He vanished completely. So did Kodama Satomi-san. Both of them went missing shortly after meeting you. Care to explain that?”

”Now, how am I supposed to answer that…”

I played dumb, but her next words made me realize that feigning ignorance was a waste of breath.

”And then there’s Mihiro-san, who claimed to be Chihiro-kun’s sister the moment she appeared. It’s strange. I’ve never heard of him having a sister. And yet, here she is in this world instead of Japan. Mihiro-san, who exactly are you?”

 ”– !?”

I’d screwed up. If she had a connection to Minette-san and access to our information, this contradiction was inevitable. Mihiro started to panic, unable to find the words to respond to the sudden confrontation.

”Carmilla-san,” I interrupted. “Could you please stop bullying Mihiro-san?”

”Oh? I didn’t mean to… If it felt that way, I apologize,” Carmilla-san said, bowing her head. Then she looked me in the eye. “That doesn’t change the fact that you’re suspicious, Sieben-kun. Answer me. What did you do to Yuki Chihiro-kun? And what happened to the other missing Heroes?”

Carmilla glared at me. This was a mess. Most of my classmates who had crossed paths with ‘Sieben’ had vanished. Anyone with a brain would find it suspicious. A half-baked lie wouldn’t cut it, and while I could stay silent, I didn’t want her watching me with suspicion forever. She clearly wasn’t going to back down.

”Fine. I’ll tell you the truth,” I said. “As for Yuki Chihiro, he no longer exists **anywhere in this world**. Mihiro is his **blood relative**, and she serves me of her own free will.”

Technically, I wasn’t lying. I didn’t know how Carmilla-san would take it, though.

”Wait! What does that even mean? Did you actually kill – wait. Mihiro-san is his blood relative? Is that the truth?”

”It is. And I’m not saying another word about it. Or about the other Heroes. You’ve heard from Minette-san how much I hate Heroes, haven’t you? If you keep prying, I’m canceling the request.”

Carmilla-san rubbed her chin, deep in thought. She clearly wasn’t satisfied, but she turned to Mihiro.

”…Mihiro-san, is what he’s saying true?”

”Yes,” Mihiro replied. “It’s true. I’m serving him by my own choice.”

”I see…” Carmilla-san let out a long sigh. “Fine. I’ll stop. I’m sure there’s some history there that you won’t tell me anyway.”

 I nodded.

”Sigh. I don’t like it, but I can’t afford to lose your help. Besides, it seems like the other girls really adore you. Do Honoka-san, Yukiko-san, and Reese-san all serve you by choice as well?”

”Yes. Goshujin-sama [loves me / will never forgive me], after all,” Honoka said.

”Sieben does feel-good things to me, so I like him – ” Yukiko chirped.

”I… I did something terrible to him, so…” Rieslett muttered.

Carmilla-san let out a strained laugh and backed away. I guess the harem life is a bit much for an outsider.

 ”…Sieben-kun, is Honoka-san a bit… broken?”

”A lot happened,” I said, offering no further comment. Carmilla-san seemed to catch the drift, likely thanks to Yukiko’s big mouth.

”Anyway, I’ll talk to Hina-san and the others. They might refuse, though.”

”I’d prefer it if you made them agree, even if you have to force them,” I said.

 ”I’ll think about it.”

She didn’t seem enthusiastic. But I have my own business with those girls. I didn’t come here to play games.

”By the way,” Carmilla-san said suddenly. “Do you have a way to kill me?”

 ”Huh?”

We all stared at her. Was she suicidal? She didn’t look the part.

”Look, living for five hundred years is exhausting. Watching your loved ones – even your children and grandchildren – die before you is a heavy burden. My desires are just… fading away.”

She laughed self-deprecatingly. I got it. Being unable to age with anyone would be rough. If it was a Skill causing it, maybe I could do something. I decided to try ‘Snatch’.

”I’m not keen on killing you, but I might be able to give you a body that can die,” I said. “I’ll try it now.”

I attempted to ‘Snatch’ the Skill responsible for her immortality… and I was violently repelled.

 ”…What?”

 ”What’s wrong?”

 ”No… it failed.”

”Aww… I don’t know what you were trying to do, but ‘failed’ is a bit of a letdown,” Carmilla-san said, looking disappointed.

I was the one more shocked. That was the first time I’d ever failed to take a Skill.

”Sorry. I’ve never failed before,” I muttered.

”Sigh, it’s fine. Knowing when to quit is important. I’ll give up on the idea for now. Sorry for asking the impossible.”

Carmilla-san bounced back quickly, but I was still reeling. I had no idea why it hadn’t worked.

”Well, dying while I still have duties wouldn’t be right anyway. Even if I can’t die.”

 The joke wasn’t funny.

”I should get going. See you later.”

 And with that, Carmilla-san left.

…Damn it. I should’ve asked for an autograph. I’m supposed to be a mysterious overlord, but I still wanted one!

* * *

I returned to my room and collapsed into a chair. I was exhausted. The pressure Sieben started giving off halfway through was intense – right around the time I brought up the missing Heroes. I managed to keep my cool, but if I’d let my guard down for a second, I would’ve been in trouble. It hit me right in the pit of my stomach – and lower.

One thing was clear: he isn’t exactly a villain, but he’s no saint either. It’s a fact that Heroes disappear or die when he’s around, but not all of them. The ones with him – Tatei-kun, Yokoo-kun, Honoka-san, Yukiko-san, and Reese-san – clearly adore him. He isn’t a monster; they’re completely dependent on him. Especially Honoka-san.

I was worried Hina-san and the others would be in danger if I let them near him, but maybe I’m overthinking it.

Still, that phrasing was so strange.

’Yuki Chihiro does not exist anywhere in this world.’

The logical conclusion is that he’s dead. But is he? And then there’s Mihiro-san. Sieben said she was a blood relative. Maybe she’s a descendant of a past Hero related to Chihiro? Even so, it doesn’t explain how Sieben found her.

”Ugh… stop, stop. No more overthinking! I’m going to sleep!”

I grumbled to myself and crawled into bed without even changing.

By the way… it failed in the end, but what exactly was Sieben trying to do to me? Was he trying to steal my Unique Skills?

No, that’s impossible. You can’t just ‘steal’ a Unique Skill.

 —

 Summary:

Sieben accepts a quest from Carmilla to retake Fort Misone but demands the three Heroes of Envyos join him. Carmilla confront him about the disappearance of the Hero Yuki Chihiro, but Sieben deflects using Mihiro’s identity. Sieben attempts to use ‘Snatch’ on Carmilla’s immortality but fails for the first time.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Carmilla is Oribe, a former idol Sieben (Chihiro) used to follow.

 - Honoka’s dialogue implies she views Sieben’s lack of forgiveness as a form of love/bond.

 - Sieben explicitly admits that Yuki Chihiro ‘does not exist in this world’—a clever play on words since he changed his identity.

 - Unique Skills are typically impossible to steal, making Sieben’s ‘Snatch’ failure a significant moment for his character growth/limitation

 —

 Character Insight:

Sieben is shown as someone who is neither purely good nor purely evil, operating on his own logic and grudges. Carmilla reveals her weariness of eternal life, showing a more vulnerable side behind her ‘idol’ persona.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that a s*xual scene involving Carmilla was planned but cut for better story pacing.

Lean build, sharp features, that cold, arrogant “I can get away with it” stare. Wields the unique skill Steal (窃盗), which he uses to manipulate minds and control women. Once impersonated the hero Sieben with a mask and greatsword, but lost everything and dropped to Level 7. He’s a “Hero” cursed to die and resurrect endlessly—turned into a Lesser Vampire, executed, and ultimately erased from existence.

Works at Natsumi’s manor, got caught up in Sugita’s mess, and yeah… it didn’t end well.

• Honoka – Petite, cute “transistor‑glamour” girl with high‑level healing magic, built like a tiny bomb of lewdness and huge breasts. Started as a cold‑hearted slave mocking Sasaki, then flipped into full devoted “Goshujin‑sama” maid mode, obsessed with his scent and desperate to bear his child. Used to be Hidaka’s obsession, later violated by Sugita, which left her furious and tightly protective of the protagonist. Bashful smiles, but the second anything touches him she goes nuclear. Usually in a sleazy maid outfit, the anti‑aesthetic to Lotte and Nadja’s clean uniforms.

Once an escapee with Yuki and Kijima’s sister, she suffered under Sasaki —whose female form later mimics her appearance, claiming to have “eaten” her.

• Satomi – A self-proclaimed fan of Chihiro. A bronzed girl with bleached hair.

• Sieben – Young man with black hair and a mask covering his eyes. He purchased Honoka and Ria.
