Chapter 47 I Want You to Go Home…

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I eventually made my way to the Saint’s location. This time, everyone except Charlotte came along to keep watch.

 ”W-Who are you!?”

I ignored the Saint’s hysterics. “Yui, just wait a little longer, okay?” I said. I hoisted the Saint over my shoulder and carried her off.

I took her into the room we’d used before and began cutting away her clothes. Snip. Snip.

First, I checked the area around her crotch-the same spot where the Hero’s crest¹ had been-but there was nothing there but a light dusting of hair.

Is it somewhere else? I wondered, shearing away the rest of her outfit.

”St-Stop it! Who do you think I am!? I’ll sue you! Let me go! You piece of trash! You monster! You’re the lowest of the low!”

”Who are you calling trash? Shut up. Or I’ll kill you.”

The voice didn’t belong to me. It was Amelia.

Her bloodlust was the real deal-so intense her mana was physically leaking into the air. Sensing the genuine danger, the Saint jerked with a violent shudder and went silent. The warm atmosphere from earlier had vanished, replaced by a cold, murderous edge that settled over everyone.

I didn’t want to see them making faces like that.

”Let’s just get this over with,” I muttered. I stripped her bare, but the Slave Crest² was nowhere to be found.

”Wait… she isn’t even enslaved, is she?” I said, the words escaping before I could stop them.

”I… I don’t see anything either,” Erina said, her expression mirroring my disbelief as she thoroughly inspected the girl’s naked body. “That shouldn’t be possible.”

”Maybe in here?” I checked her p**sy, spreading her open, but still found nothing.

”Hey, Senpai. You… you aren’t under a slave contract?” I asked.

”None of us are! Unlike you, our hearts aren’t filthy!” she screamed.

 …Wait.

This girl didn’t even know the other upperclassmen were enslaved?

I see. That’s her position in the group. In that case, I was done.

I released her restraints and handed back her clothes. She glared at me, trembling. “What, finished? I bet you were planning on raping me anyway.”

”As if we’d ever give a reward like that to someone like you,” Meena said. It was rare to hear the usually cheerful Meena speak with such overwhelming intimidation.

Realizing this was becoming a massive headache, I raised my voice to wrap things up. “Anyway, someone keep an eye on her. You can take her to the living room.”

I intended to gather everyone for a discussion soon anyway, so there was no reason to keep them separated. I figured she’d be quieter if she were with the Hero. Meena stepped up to take her. She nodded at my request and, without a word, grabbed the Saint by the collar and dragged her away.

”Now then, the last one is Yui… In a state like that, do they go wild once the spell is broken?” I asked the others.

Seeing her in a state where her emotions were worn down to the bone made me genuinely worried. The girls told me that while they hadn’t heard of such a thing, they didn’t actually know for sure. Slaves in that condition were usually just disposed of; they were either used until they broke or simply never released.

 ”I see…”

I headed straight back to Yui.

”Sorry to keep you waiting,” I said.

”That was fast,” she replied. Even though she was blindfolded, her voice was unnervingly composed.

”Senpai, you’ve gotten strong. I was worried I was terrifying you.”

”I already know what kind of person you are, Ibuki-kun. Even if I do have a horrific headache and everything feels like the absolute worst right now.”

”I see,” I replied softly. I reached out and snipped away the bottom of her clothes.

Sure enough, the Slave Crest was in the exact same spot as the Hero’s. She seemed to realize what I was doing; she looked pained, her head clearly throbbing, but she didn’t say a word. I immediately triggered my Storage³ ability to nullify the existing mana and replaced it with my own.

”I cancel every order given to you until now,” I said. “And I’m adding one new command: Don’t attack us.”

She gave a small, weak nod.

”Once you’ve settled down, I’ll release the enslavement entirely, okay?”

”No. It’s fine like this. If it’s you, Ibuki-kun,” she whispered.

”No, I can’t just leave it like that.”

”Fufu, I knew you’d say that. But really, right now… I feel more secure being your property.”

She began to tremble slightly and clung to me. I caught her and held her tight. She didn’t move for a long time. Eventually, I told the others to head back first. Once we were alone, Yui finally spoke.

”Hey… what are those people to you, Ibuki-kun?”

”Oh, them? They’re my wives. All of them.”

 ”Wh… What!?”

For the first time, Yui gave me a look of genuine, unfiltered shock.

”Look, you surely know the culture is like that here, right? I learned it was necessary to survive, and it just… turned out this way.”

Honestly, I hadn’t intended to marry thirteen people. As the thought crossed my mind, Yui winced, clutching her head against the pain.

”Why are you so dead-set against it!?” I asked.

”Because! The person I thought was wonderful just rescued me in the coolest way possible! And now… now the seat next to you is already taken! It’s just too cruel!”

She broke down and started sobbing.

”I’m happy you feel that way, but… I’m sorry. You probably can’t accept a polygamous lifestyle, Senpai. It’s just not possible.”

”Wait… if I could accept it, would I be okay too?” She snapped her head up, her gaze pinning me with intense focus.

”I mean, you wouldn’t be able to stand me being with other women right in front of you, right? You’d be miserable with jealousy.”

”Do the people here really not get jealous?”

”Well, I’m sure it happens. But it’s more like, ‘No fair, let me join in too.’”

The moment I said that, she leaned in-still clinging to me-and bit my shoulder.

”See? That’s exactly what I mean,” I sighed.

Yui immediately stopped biting and began to lick the spot.

 ”Hey, that tickles!”

”Ugh! God! I love you! I love you so much!!”

”W-What’s gotten into you all of a sudden!?”

”I don’t even know! My heart is just a total mess right now!!”

She wailed like a scolded child.

”Yeah, you were scared, weren’t you… There, there.” I pulled her into a tight hug and stroked her hair.

 ”That’s not it!” she snapped.

”Then what do you want me to do…?”

As I looked at her, she said something that made no sense. “Do something that creates responsibility. I want you to take responsibility for me.”

”Isn’t that a ‘chicken or the egg’ kind of argument?”

”It’s not! I’m telling you to just do it!”

”I’m telling you, it’s a bad idea! I’ll just end up making you jealous and miserable…”

”Then, if you feel like I’ve finally overcome that… will you take me?”

”I mean… I’d definitely welcome it. I just thought it was impossible for you.”

The second the words were out, she tackled me. “Really!?”

”Yeah. You’re someone I genuinely like, Yui. If we can support each other, I’d be happy.”

”I-I’m so happy. Then I’m never letting go. I’m never leaving you.”

”Okay. But first, let’s go talk to everyone. If you’re going to join us, we should do it officially, right?”

”Uh-huh! But, even if they’re against it, you better work hard to convince them, okay?”

”Oh, I think it’ll be fine. Given the culture here.”

I explained to her that in this world, a man’s social standing is often tied to how many wives he can support. She looked conflicted, but she seemed to recall hearing something about it. “I think… they might have mentioned that,” she murmured.

”So, is it safe to say you’re on our side now, Sage-senpai?”

”It’s Yui. Why is it still ‘Sage-senpai’ in your head? I mean, what even is a ‘Sage-senpai’?”

She gave me a dead-eyed stare, as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

”Well, I never actually knew your name…”

I thought I had gotten used to women, but for some reason, since she was a girl from my old school, I couldn’t keep eye contact.

”I mean, those guys used Appraisal and called it out when we were summoned, didn’t they!?”

”I wasn’t exactly in a mental state to be taking notes on names back then, you know?”

She winced. “Ugh… okay, that’s fair.”

”Well, ask me then! When you keep your distance like that, it’s lonely!”

”Yeah, you’re right. My bad. I’m sorry… Yui.”

I apologized and used her name.

”Say it again, so I don’t forget,” she whispered.

It was too cute. I put my heart into it and said her name again. She immediately cut me off by pressing her lips against mine.

”God! I love you! Why do you make me fall for you like this!?”

”Hey, I just called your name. Besides, if you’re going to start something, I’m going to finish it.”

”Yes. Please?” Yui’s voice had turned completely sweet and melting.

”Alright. But we report the relationship first. Whether we make it a full marriage is up to you.”

I figured if we kept flirting like this, we’d just slide into a relationship by Japanese standards, so I prioritized bringing her to meet the others. Yui’s face immediately slumped into a pout. “They’re all so incredibly beautiful… of course you’d treasure them,” she muttered.

”Yeah. If we’re going to be together, I’ll treasure you all equally. That’s the vow I made to myself when I was struggling to accept this world’s culture.”

I realized that wouldn’t be enough to explain it, so I told her about the time right after I left the castle-how a man who doesn’t have at least three wives is considered a failure who hasn’t fulfilled his social duty.

Yui looked like she’d been hit by a bolt of lightning. “I see. So it’s actually a total lack of common sense not to… You really agonized over this, didn’t you, Ibuki-kun? Now that I think about it, it makes sense. The system would fall apart otherwise.”

”Yeah. There’s no point in being together for ‘happiness’ if the foundation is built to fail.”

”I get it… then order me. Order me not to be jealous,” she said, her expression a bit bitter.

”No way. I don’t have any interest in keeping my wives as slaves.”

”But… if it’s you, I don’t mind naughty orders. And I know you’d never give me an order that actually hurts me, so I’m fine staying like this.”

Despite her words, I could see a trace of relief in her eyes. Was she just baring her true heart? Either way, my stance wasn’t changing. I picked her up in a princess carry and looked her in the eye. “No. This is my safeguard to make sure I don’t become the kind of person who would give those orders.”

”I see. Then I guess it can’t be helped. I’ll work hard.”

Yui smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck. I couldn’t help but think she was adorable. I really do feel like a person’s value comes from how they choose to live.

By Japanese standards, Yui is definitely on the cuter side, but in this world, she’s about average. Even so, seeing the way she carried herself, I found myself naturally thinking she was beautiful.

”Yeah, give it your best shot. Because I want you too, Yui.”

 ”Yes!”

She gave a firm nod and pulled herself closer, clinging to me as I carried her toward the living room. As I walked in still holding her, my girls didn’t seem to mind at all, but the other students looked like they’d seen a ghost.

”Alright, first off, an announcement. Yui and I are officially dating. Whether she becomes a wife or not is up to her, but I’m counting on you all to look after her, okay?”

Charlotte stepped forward. “Yui-san, will you support Ibuki-sama alongside us?”

”Yeah. Um… will you… will you let me into the circle, too?”

Yui asked timidly, and immediately, my girls surrounded her with smiles.

”Then from now on, you’re one of us.”

The air in the room had turned cozy, so I set Yui down and we all huddled into the kotatsu.

The upperclassmen were in the middle of eating, but Hero Kaito sat there frozen, a piece of meat still skewered on his fork.

 ”Um… Sato-san, are you actually… dating Ibuki-kun?” Kaito asked.

”Y-yeah. I was the one who asked him…” Yui replied, her face flushing a deep crimson.

For a second, I’d worried I’d stumbled into some NTR plot, but apparently not. A look of pure relief washed over Kaito’s face. “Oh, so Sato-san was the one who made the move,” he muttered.

But Saint Kubo wasn’t having it. She glared at us, her voice dripping with venom.

”How… I can’t believe this. You do realize these people are killers?” Kubo snapped.

 The room went ice-cold.

”You’ve got some nerve,” I said. “You think you’re being held captive by murderers, yet you’re acting that smug? In a situation like this, you’d usually assume you’re next. Do you actually have a death wish?”

Her face twisted into a mask of confusion. “Eh…?”

”Kubo-san, you really ought to think before you open your mouth,” Kaito interjected, his voice uncharacteristically sharp. “At the very least, we’re grateful to Ibuki-kun for saving us. You should probably realize that you don’t have a single ally in this room.”

I stared at Kaito, surprised by his backbone, but Yui filled in the blanks.

”This girl did whatever she wanted back in Dole. She’d literally kick slaves for fun. I never thought she was a ‘good girl’ to begin with, but now? I’m embarrassed to even call her an acquaintance,” Yui said.

”I was honestly shocked,” Kaito added. “The people in the Merchant Guild Dole actually badmouthed us just for telling her to cut it out.”

As we both leveled cold glares at Kubo, she shrieked, “Th-that was obviously just an act!”

”Um, Ibuki-sama, I’m afraid I’ve lost the thread of the conversation entirely,” Erina said, her voice laced with genuine concern. “Based on what’s been said, I fail to see a single reason why such an ‘act’ would be necessary. Is this something only the Heroes can understand?”

I couldn’t help but bark out a laugh at her deadpan delivery.

”Erina-san, don’t worry. We don’t understand it at all either,” Kaito added with a deadly serious expression.

”W-why is everyone ganging up on me?! It’s just because you two couldn’t play your parts right!!” Kubo yelled.

”She’s just like this,” I sighed, letting my team know exactly what we were dealing with. Lisha muttered under her breath, as if the last piece of a puzzle had clicked into place. “Ahhh, so that’s why you wanted to save everyone except Saint-sama…”

”Yeah. So, we’ll be sending Kubo back to Dole when the timing is right,” I said.

I tried to move the conversation along, but Kubo let out a delighted yelp. “Wait, what?! I can go home?!”

”Well, yeah. You weren’t under an enslavement contract. You stayed with Dole by choice. Technically, that makes you an enemy and I don’t owe you a damn thing, but killing you is a hassle. It’s more convenient to just ship you back,” I explained.

I didn’t want her anywhere near us. If I handed her over to the locals here, her arrogance would probably get her killed within the hour. But eventually, the world would find out that we were the ones who captured the Heroes. If the Saint ended up dead on our watch, it would be a PR nightmare. It was much better to let her live as a collaborator of Dole-the very country we planned to brand as the “Evil Empire.”

That was my logic, but she took it in some bizarre direction. “Hmph. I see. You’re just trying to make me owe you one,” Kubo said.

”How can you even think that after seeing that battlefield…?” Yui muttered, looking utterly floored. Kubo ignored her, her mind already racing.

”Wait, wait! You said I wasn’t enslaved… so you two were made into slaves?!” Kubo asked, her eyes darting between them.

”Yeah. They drugged us and forced the contract,” Kaito said.

”They said it was to prevent betrayal,” Yui added. “If you fall into enemy hands even once, they’ll probably slap an enslavement contract on you too, just to be safe.”

”Hey! Both of you, cut it out!” I snapped, stepping in to stop them.

The two of them blinked at me, surprised.

”I just want her gone…” I said, my eyes pleading with them. They both let out a soft “Ah…” of realization.

Kubo put on a huffy, pouting face. “I’ll do just fine, so whatever.”

With her acceptance of the deal, I had nothing left to say to her. I asked Erina to move her to a separate room for isolation. Knowing Erina, she’d probably squeeze whatever intel she could out of her first.

Not that I thought that girl knew anything worth knowing, but it didn’t matter. I turned back to the remaining upperclassmen.

”Now then,” I said. “Let’s talk about our next move.”

 —

 Summary:

Ibuki inspects Saint-senpai only to find she isn’t enslaved, unlike the others. He then frees Yui (Sage-senpai) from her Slave Crest by overwriting it with his own mana. Yui confesses her love, and after a lengthy discussion about this world’s polygamous culture, Ibuki carries her to the living room to introduce her as his newest partner to his other wives.

Ibuki and the rescued Heroes, Kaito and Yui, discuss their new relationship dynamic while being confronted by the arrogant Saint Kubo. The group reveals Kubo’s abusive behavior in Dole, leading Ibuki to decide to exile her back to her country for political reasons. The chapter ends with Kubo being isolated for interrogation while the rest prepare for their next steps.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Saint-senpai was the only one not enslaved, indicating her different status among the summoned students.

 - Ibuki uses his ‘Storage’ ability to manipulate mana, a unique application of his Crafter class.

 - Ibuki previously struggled with the idea of polygamy but accepted it as a social necessity in this world.

 - Yui’s headache was a symptom of the Slave Crest’s mental interference.

 - Ibuki has thirteen wives before adding Yui to the group.

 - Kaito and Yui were drugged to force their enslavement.

 - The protagonist is intentionally keeping Kubo alive to damage Dole’s reputation.

 - Yui was the one who initiated the relationship with Ibuki.

 - Kubo was not magically enslaved, meaning her actions in Dole were of her own free will

 —

 Character Insight:

Ibuki shows a mix of clinical pragmatism and deep moral consideration; he refuses to keep Yui as a slave because he fears the corrupting influence of absolute power. Yui demonstrates a rapid shift from trauma-induced withdrawal to passionate attachment, common in ‘damsel in distress’ tropes but reinforced here by the magic of the overwrite.

Hero Kaito shows unexpected mental fortitude by standing up to Kubo. Ibuki demonstrates cold pragmatism, prioritizing geopolitical optics over personal revenge or justice regarding Kubo.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author uses the cultural differences in marriage and social standing to justify the harem expansion, grounding the trope in world-building rather than just fanservice.

The ‘Saint’ archetype is subverted here, showing her as a narcissistic bully rather than a holy figure, a common trope in darker Isekai narratives.
