It had been roughly a month and a half since the world branded Greedia and me as Enemies of the Gods¹. I was just beginning to adjust to the infamy when an unexpected guest arrived at our door.
”So, who is it?” I asked.
”A guest, Master,” Alpha replied smoothly. “She claims to be on… exceptionally intimate terms with you. She is currently waiting in the drawing room.”
Alpha was my newest butler, one of the twins born to Orcus and Keiko. Despite being only six months old, he had the imposing presence of a fit young man. He possessed the reddish-brown skin and black hair of his lineage, with a single horn protruding from his forehead, though his frame was far more elegant than his father’s. He was refined, polite, and-if I’m being honest-quite handsome.
His twin sister, Beta, was a different story. While she was a striking beauty, she had inherited her father’s bloodlust and a rather extreme “Yuri”² streak. Apparently, she spent her days “tormenting” her mother, Keiko, in ways that were… decidedly s*xual.
Still, “intimate terms,” huh? If the staff had let her into the drawing room, she clearly wasn’t an assassin.
”She is a Dwarf woman, by the way,” Alpha added.

I pushed open the drawing room doors. My suspicions were confirmed the moment I saw her.
”I figured as much…”
”S-Sieben… Sieben! I finally found you! I’ve missed you so much!”
The petite girl leaped from the sofa, her face scrunched in a mess of tears as she threw herself into my chest.
”It’s been a while, Polilina.”

”I… I’m sorry you had to see me like that. How embarrassing,” Polilina muttered a few minutes later, finally pulling herself together.
”Don’t worry about it,” I replied, sitting across from her. “I’ve seen you in much more embarrassing states than that.”
”Idiot.”
She was still wearing her military-style fatigues, but they were frayed and caked with the grime of the road.
”So, why are you here?”
”I was kicked out,” she said.
”What? Say that again?”
”I! SAID! They kicked me out of the Guild!”
Polilina slammed her fist onto the table with a heavy THUD, sending the teacups rattling.
According to her, the trouble started when Leonardo’s younger brother-the former Fourth Prince, Marquis Joshua-staged a coup. When the world declared me an Enemy of the Gods, Leonardo had initially refused to move against me. He felt he owed me for saving the kingdom and preferred a policy of non-aggression. However, Joshua used our friendship as a pretext to drag Leonardo off the throne and seize power for himself.
”I see. I figured Leonardo wouldn’t be stupid enough to pick a fight with me,” I mused. “He knows what I’m capable of. But with Joshua in charge, everything changes.”
I thought of Annamaria. I knew she and Leonardo were on decent terms, so the sudden declaration of war had seemed nonsensical until now. Leonardo was the type to wait and see-if Greedia looked weak, he’d invade; if we looked strong, he’d stay quiet. Annamaria always said he was more of a calculating strategist than his bear-like appearance suggested.
”But how did that lead to your exile, Polilina?”
”Because Marquis Joshua co-opted the Monster Hunter Guild³ as his personal playground,” she spat.
It turned out Joshua despised the Monster Hunters we had worked so hard to train. They were stronger than his regular soldiers, they had actual leadership skills, and they were loyal to Leonardo. To neutralize them, Joshua purged Polilina and the professional staff, replacing them with the same incompetent hacks we had fired months ago. The Guild had officially reverted to a useless, lazy bureaucracy.
”The others are here too,” Polilina added.
”The others” meant the rest of the Monster Hunters and staff. Even with my new reputation, they refused to see me as a villain because of Polilina’s word. In fact, they were more disgusted by Joshua’s usurpation of the throne than they were by my “sins.” They had staged a daring escape, but the moment they hit the Greedia border, their pursuers had stopped dead, as if hitting an invisible wall. It seemed the barrier I’d erected to keep out Plaudix was serving a dual purpose. Polilina had come ahead to brief me, mostly at the “meddling” insistence of the hunters.
”Do you have any idea about the scale of the Rasphiria army?” I asked.
”No… I had to flee before I could gather intel,” she admitted. “But while Joshua is mediocre, he isn’t a total fool. Given the food shortages, he won’t be able to field a massive force, even if he’s calling for a crusade.”
The potato harvest wouldn’t fix a famine overnight. Even with our improved breeds, the country was still on strict rations.
”However… there is one fatally stupid man involved. He’s the type who would march troops into a meat grinder without a second thought,” Polilina warned.
”Heh. Well, that’s actually good news,” I said.
Numbers don’t matter if the leader is a moron. A disorganized mob led by an idiot is easier to handle than a small, elite force. I figured their morale had to be in the gutter anyway.
I found out later, however, that they had found a twisted way to motivate the men. Joshua had declared that the soldier who performed the greatest feat in battle would be “gifted” Annamaria as a prize. The report came from a few hunters who had stayed behind to spy. They were painting me as a kidnapper and Annamaria as a captive princess.
When Annamaria heard the news, she was livid.
”I am Sieben-sama’s wife! I would never submit to a stranger! Especially not to someone like Johann-niisama!”
Johann was the “incompetent moron” Polilina had mentioned-the ninth son of the previous king. He was my age and technically a Marquis, but he was a narcissist who viewed his own sister with lewd, predatory eyes. It was no wonder Annamaria loathed him.
”Anyway, I’m just glad you made it,” I said, standing up. “You’ve had a long journey. Go and get some rest.”
As I turned to leave, Polilina grabbed the hem of my shirt.
”Um… since we finally met again… I was wondering if… maybe… with me…”
She was fidgeting, her thighs rubbing together nervously.
(Is she holding in her pee? No, don’t be an idiot…)
I knew exactly what she was asking for. She had been waiting a long time for this. I reached out, took her hand, and pulled her into a firm embrace.
”Ah… Sieben…” she whispered.
I leaned down, closing the gap for a kiss, when a sharp knock sounded at the door.
”Master? A guest has arrived who insists on seeing you immediately. How should I handle this?”
It was Alpha. (Are you kidding me? Right at the best part?!)
”It is… Board Chairman Carmilla Viede from the Envyos Magic Academy,” Alpha announced.
…Wait, what?

• Annamaria – The ten‑year‑old youngest daughter of Draguoth’s king, with long straight blonde hair, blue eyes and unusually large breasts for her size, wears a tiara and a white lace dress. Now Sieben’s wife, she is the biological sister of princes Leonardo and Johann.
• Carmilla Viede – Carmilla Viede, also known as Oribe Mira, is the five‑hundred‑year‑old founder and Board Chairman of Envyos Magic Academy, former Queen of Envyos, once a Japanese high‑school student and famed voice actress.
