Chapter 274 Kakei Seijuro ①

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of socializing. Or rather, it’s just a massive pain in the ass. No matter how friendly someone acts, you never know what they’re thinking behind that mask. This country’s King is a perfect example. He sees us as nothing more than tools; in fact, it’s painfully obvious he looks down on everyone but himself.

My classmates weren’t any better. Sugita and his crew used to torment Sasaki, Tatei, and Yokoo. When I asked why, they just said, “Because it’s fun.” I didn’t get the appeal. If they were breaking them into submission, that would be one thing, but apparently, that wasn’t even the point.

Then Sugita and the others ran off, got themselves killed, and were branded as “Fake Heroes.” I figured they had it coming-you can’t buy that much resentment without paying the price eventually. But when I recently found out it was Sasaki who did the deed, I just laughed at the irony. They gave him nothing but the whip, so they deserved exactly what they got. It was pure karma.

Now, while I find people exhausting, I don’t hate animals. I’ve always loved dogs. They’re obedient as long as you establish a clear hierarchy and keep them well-fed. That’s why I brought Lightning-that Mazoku woman-to heel and turned her into my dog. Nagase-sensei¹ had already started the “discipline” process; I just took over the lease.

Initially, she served as one of the Hero Church Priestesses. But since you can never truly know a person’s heart, I decided to train her like a pet instead. (Don’t think about anything. Just belong to me.) That was the message I drilled into Lightning, constantly balancing rewards with the lash. Now, she’s my perfectly submissive dog-a sweet, honest little bitch-dog. Honestly, as long as I have her, I’m happy. I was actually planning to slip out of this country to avoid getting tangled up with Sasaki, but then Jinno cornered me. “We’re going to take Sasaki down,” he declared.

 (Yeah, you do that,)

But Jinno was high on his own supply, rambling about a “battle for justice” and asking if I “condoned evil.” He finally threatened me, saying if I didn’t join, he’d strike me down as a villain who treats women like animals. So, I reluctantly tagged along.

And then, the war turned into an absolute slaughter. When the surrender envoy arrived, Jinno pulled the ultimate “righteous” move and murdered the messenger. (So much for justice,) I thought to myself. To make matters worse, he dragged us all into a duel against Sasaki. I really regret not skipping town earlier. I could have been living a quiet, easy life with just me and my pet.

And now, my opponent isn’t even human. It’s a Mazoku. A female child, no less. Give me a break. I know Mazoku are the “enemy of humanity” and all that, but this is just such a chore. If it were Narumi, I might have tried to talk my way out of it for old time’s sake, but you can’t reason with a Mazoku. Especially since this one looks like she’s ready to tear my throat out.

”Honestly… to treat one of my subjects like a common cur noja,” the girl said. “You clearly have a death wish.”

(Subjects? Did she mean Lightning? That would make this brat a Demon King… Just my luck.)

”Hold on a second,” Kakei said. “This girl is a dog because she wants to be. Can’t you see? She’s the one baring her fangs at you.”

Sure enough, Lightning was growling at the two Mazoku, her teeth bared in a snarl. I have to admit, I love that loyal-hound energy. Seriously, why did the Goddess give me a Skill like ‘Infinite Ammunition’ instead of something for Taming?

”See, Lady Medinilla? I told you,” the other woman said. “She’s already completely devoted to her.”

”That does not make it any less unbearable to witness noja!” Medinilla shouted. “My subordinate, reduced to this… We are taking her back and restoring her, by any means necessary!”

”I agree with the ‘taking back’ part,” the other replied. “But we’re going to have to break her all over again first ssu.”

 ”Mu… mmm…”

I could tell by the outfits that the kid, Medinilla, was the one in charge.

”I’m not really looking to give her up,” Kakei interrupted. “She’s honest, she does what she’s told, and she’s cute. What’s not to love?”

 ”Woof! Hah… hah… hah…”

When I petted her head, Lightning panted happily and wagged her tail. (Well, the ‘tail’ is a plug fixed in her backside, but she still manages to wag it somehow. It’s a nice touch; makes her easy to read.) Still, what now? This is heading toward a death match, and I’m not particularly interested in dying.

 Wait, I’ve got an idea.

”Hey, how about this? Why don’t both of you become my dogs, too?” Kakei asked. “I’ll treat you real well, just like her.”

 ”Excuse me?” Medinilla asked.

 ”Hah?” the other joined in.

They both glared at me, brows twitching. (Weird. I thought it was a solid proposal.)

”Think about it! If you become my pets, you get to stay with her! You can live however you want, as long as you follow my orders. It’s a great deal! You stay together, I get more cute dogs, and everyone’s happy. It’s a total win-win.”

”What ‘win-win’ noja?! My heart and soul already belong to my Master! As if I would ever serve a degenerate like-“

(Wait, the kid already has an owner? Well, that’s a buzzkill. Or so I thought, until…)

”Actually, wait. You!” Medinilla pointed a finger. “Depending on the terms, I might consider being your dog noja.”

 ”For real?” Kakei asked.

”Indeed noja! On one condition: you have to beat me first. Deal?”

(Hmm. If I win, I’m the boss… I get it. I have to prove I’m the alpha before they’ll accept me as their owner. Hierarchy is everything, after all. Discipline is the foundation of any good relationship, and it’s a master’s duty to make sure the pets know their place.)

”Fine. If I win, you two are my pets,” Kakei said. “No backing out.”

”I swear it on my name noja,” the girl replied.

Medinilla’s lips curled into a predatory smirk.

”Alright then,” Kakei said. “Let’s play!”

The battle for a few new additions to the pack began.

 Summary:

Kakei Seijuro, a cynical Hero who treats relationships as master-servant hierarchies, finds himself forced into a war by his self-righteous classmate Jinno. Confronted by the Mazoku girl Medinilla and her companion, Kakei attempts to negotiate a ‘taming’ deal. Medinilla, surprisingly intrigued, agrees to become his ‘dog’ if he can defeat her in combat.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Kakei’s skill ‘Infinite Ammunition’ implies he uses firearms or ranged weaponry in a fantasy setting.

 - Lightning’s tail is explicitly a plug-in accessory, confirming the fetishistic nature of Kakei’s taming.

 - Medinilla already has a ‘Master,’ which she mentions before agreeing to Kakei’s duel.

 - Kakei was planning to desert the army before being coerced by Jinno

 —

 Character Insight:

Kakei Seijuro is revealed to be a high-functioning sociopath who equates affection with submission. Medinilla displays a classic ‘haughty royalty’ (ojousama/hime) archetype combined with a warrior’s respect for strength.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that Kakei is ‘special kind of rotten’ compared to other classmates. The ending quote is a meme from Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Orga Itsuka).

 TL Notes:

1 Infinite Ammunition (Mugen no Juudan): A cheat skill granted to Kakei Seijuro, likely allowing for unlimited projectile use without reloading.

2 Sensei: A Japanese honorific meaning ‘teacher’ or ‘master’; here referring to Nagase, who initially conditioned the Mazoku woman.

Notes:

• Sasaki – The protagonist, 168–171 cm and 57–59 kg, with a baby face hidden by black bangs. Once bullied and thought dead by the Sugita gang, he now fights as the gladiator Seven. Wielder of Snatch and Time Compression, he’s the hidden source of many curses and a shapeshifter. Dressed in green scale armor with a blood‑red muffler, he wields dual longswords.

• Sugita – Leader of the Sugita gang and Natsumi Sasaki’s primary bully, born into police privilege—grandfather Superintendent General, father a Superintendent—ensuring his crimes vanish. Lean, sharp-featured, with a cold, arrogant stare that screams “I can get away with it.” Wields Steal (窃盗) to manipulate minds and control women; once impersonated hero Sieben with mask and greatsword, only to be stripped of status and dropped to Level 7. Cursed as a “Hero” doomed to endless death and resurrection, he became a Lesser Vampire, was executed, and erased from existence—yet his legacy lingers in whispers: mocked by girls for having a smaller member than the messenger.

• Tatei – Full name is Tatei Kozoo. Natsumi’s otaku buddy. Used to be tall and solid, now he’s 186 cm of skin and bones after anorexia wrecked him (52 kg, yeah, rough). Has the skill Materialization Alchemy and once crafted gear for the whole class. Ended up making the X‑shaped restraint stand used for Sugita’s execution—dark twist for a guy who just wanted to make cool equipment.

• Yokoo – Natsumi Sasaki’s otaku friend. His appearance is based on ‘Yoko’ from ‘Comic Party.’ Possesses ‘Materialization Summoning’. Accompanied by a Living Armor.

• Tate – Male Otaku friend of Reese. Gaunt and thin, wears glasses. Possesses Materialization Alchemy skill.

• Lightning – Thunder Demon General, a Mazoku former Hero Church Priestess, sports thick blonde hair in a ponytail, purple eyes, and silver armor that highlights her form. Conditioned by Nagase‑sensei and later “inherited” by Kakei Seijuro, she now serves as his loyal pet, wearing a tail‑plug accessory.

• Nagase – Nagase Emi. A 23-year-old teacher. Height 159 cm, B-W-H: 85-56-83. She looks younger than her real age. She is popular with students because she acts nice, but she is actually a trash teacher who was the first to bully Natsumi Sasaki.

• Jinno – Jinno Yuto, once a polished class president with short black hair, crisp uniform and sharp eyes, now a Hero leading the military campaign against Sasaki. He is self‑intoxicated by his sense of justice, self‑righteous and aggressive, wielding high‑tier magic such as Judgment and Sentence. He silently ignored Natsumi’s bullying, resents her, and harbors romantic feelings for Nagase.

• Narumi – Narumi Honoka. A member of the relief team with healing magic. Despite her cute, short, ‘transistor glamour’ appearance, she is cold-hearted and mocks Sasaki. Black hair, black eyes.

• Kakei – Height 173 cm, weight 59 kg. Thin with ‘seaweed hair.’ He has a selfish and elusive personality. He doesn’t care about class drama. He knows a lot about guns.

• Medinilla – Petite, loli‑like demon king with pale blue skin, long silver hair, goat‑like horns and golden eyes rimmed in black, wearing a twilight dress strewn with red roses. Appears as a flat‑chested girl, claims to be Sieben’s wife out of servitude, and competitively serves Natsumi, a child‑like associate. Former leader of the Six Demon Generals, she holds a high‑ranking Mazoku role with an ancient, authoritative tone and regal air.

• Seijuro – A male student from the original world summoned as a Hero. He possesses the skill Infinite Ammunition . He has a cynical, detached personality and views social relationships through the lens of hierarchy, specifically comparing them to the relationship between a master and a dog.
