Chapter 495 Warrior (Resurrection Magic) ②
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”The more I look at this thing, the more brutal it gets…”
I sat at the desk in our living quarters, staring in half-awed fascination at the “Warrior Alex”¹—a “Tremble-Ddo-Buddy”² so battered and worn it looked like it had survived a war zone. My senior disciple, Barbara, had passed it off to me, and now “he” sat there on the desk, a silent testament to someone’s… intense dedication.
Evening had arrived, and business for the day was wrapped up. The kids were down for their naps—or “evening siestas,” more like—which meant the women were finally free to hover over my shoulder and see what I was working on.
”Master, what in the world is that?” Lily asked.
”Whoa… that’s definitely seen some action,” Tania added.
”It’s a ‘Ddo-Buddy,’ right…?” Laika whispered.
Lily, my devoted love-slave; Tania, my elven lover; and Laika, my spirited love-dog. These three were seasoned pros when it came to our shop’s inventory—m**urbation veterans in their own right. Yet even they looked at “Warrior Alex” like he was some kind of cursed artifact.
”Yeah, but he’s not just any Buddy,” I explained. “He’s a ‘Tremble’ model. And from the looks of it, he was in active service until very recently…”
”That’s intense…” Lily said.
”I’ll say…” Tania replied.
”Wow…” Laika breathed.
As I recounted the story I’d heard from Barbara, the gravity of the situation sank in. When I mentioned I’d been tasked with his “resurrection,” Laika was the first to nod in solemn understanding.
”I get it,” Laika said. “The longer you use one, the more attached you get.”
”That’s right. Come to think of it, Laika, you named yours too, didn’t you?” I asked.
”His name is George,” she corrected me instantly. “And for the record, I’m pretty sure we started that trend. Remember? I got that pre-release ‘Tremble-Ddo-Buddy’ as a reward for collecting materials, and once I started bragging about him, everyone wanted one.”
”Is that so? Was naming them not a thing before the Tremble models came out?”
”I don’t think so,” Laika mused. “Maybe someone, somewhere did, but it really took off among the beast-folk back then. Those things were the first ones that moved on their own once you flipped the switch. It made them feel alive, you know? You couldn’t help but give them a name.”
It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Had it really been two years? I remembered sending Tania to hire Laika for Pororo Snail³ shells and giving her that prototype as payment. That was before the heresy trials⁴ almost shut us down. It was the “Buddy Boom” among the Beastmen Units⁵—pioneered by Laika—that essentially saved the product line. I can still see her in that “Beast-person Association” meeting, standing tall and proud.
(That’s right! Do you have any idea how much easier it is to focus on my adventuring thanks to George!)
It had been a hilariously blunt speech, but at the time, she was a magnificent representative for her people and an A-rank adventurer. Even if the topic was vibrators, it was a life-or-death issue for Beastmen Units struggling through their cycles of “Estrus”⁶.
”Well, I started mating with Kento pretty soon after that, so George hasn’t seen this much combat,” Laika said, gesturing to the mangled Alex. “But for a beast-girl who’s been using the same one since the boom… yeah, I could see it ending up like this.”
I didn’t want to pry into the requester’s identity, but I couldn’t help but wonder. A beastman woman, perhaps? I wasn’t sure what her connection to Barbara was, but given that some beast-folk worked in the brothels, it was a possibility. No, better to leave it alone. If a customer who loved our work this much wanted to stay anonymous, I owed them that much as a craftsman.
”So,” I asked, a bit mischievously, “what ever happened to George?”
”Eh?! Oh, well… he’s, uh, safely tucked away. In storage,” Laika stammered.
”You don’t use him anymore?”
”Ugh…! I mean, sometimes? Maybe when you’re busy and I’m not quite in the mood to come hunt you down…?” she replied.
”I see. So he’s still in the regular rotation.”
”I wouldn’t say ‘regular’!” Laika barked, her face turning crimson. “It’s just once in a while! Really! It’s not like I’m stepping out on you or anything!”
”Ho-ho… sounds like someone’s feeling a bit guilty.”
”I am not! I could toss him in the trash right now if I wanted to!!”
I wasn’t actually doubting her loyalty, but her reaction was too cute not to poke at. We’d been through so much since those early “Estrus” days, and she’d even given me a beautiful child—only a fool would actually be jealous of a toy.
”I’m kidding, I’m kidding. And don’t you dare throw him out!”
”Urgh… you think so?” Laika asked.
As Lily and Tania started giving me that “there he goes again” look, I reached out and gave Laika’s drooping ears a playful squeeze. Immediately, her dejected tail started to swish, then transitioned into a full-blown, happy wag. She was so easy. So adorable. It was hard to believe she was a mother.
Soon enough, Lily and Tania’s gazes shifted from judgment to “we want pets too,” so I spent the next few minutes multitasking—rubbing heads, backs, and whatever else was in reach. But eventually, I got back to business.
”Anyway, don’t actually get rid of him. He might be useful data. Actually… would you mind letting me see George? I want to compare him to Alex.”
”What?! No way! That’s… that’s too much!” Laika cried.
”Is it? George is going to wear out eventually, too—it’s inevitable. If I study Alex now, I might be able to keep George running forever.”
”I… ugh… fine,” she relented. “But! No sniffing him or anything, okay?!”
Laika put up a fight, but she finally gave in. It was rare to see her this embarrassed, especially since we’d shared just about everything a man and woman can share. Back at the “Association Meeting,” she’d brandished George like a holy relic, but I suppose after two years of intimate companionship, she’d developed a bit of bashful sentimentality. I fought the urge to smirk.
Tania, who also had an unnamed original model, offered hers up too. Lily, unfortunately, just used whatever was lying around the bedroom, so she didn’t have a “personal” unit to contribute.
(I’ll just have to check the bedroom samples later…)
While I planned, Laika rummaged through her private trunk like a dog reluctantly digging up a bone she’d hidden under her favorite rug. She finally produced a single Ddo-Buddy. George.
”Here he is…” she said.
”Oh! Interesting. He’s definitely got some wear, but he’s nowhere near Alex’s level.”
Ignoring Laika’s beet-red face, I inspected the tool. George was actually older than Alex, likely by several weeks, and according to Laika, he’d seen more use than the average woman would give him. Yet Alex was in far worse shape. Whoever owned Alex had been… remarkably aggressive.
I took Tania’s Buddy and switched them both on alongside Alex. They hummed perfectly. The internal vibration mechanisms were rock solid. There was no drop in power, even compared to the test units I’d run into the ground years ago.
”Hmm. Alex really is a special case. I wish I had a sample that was somewhere in the middle of these two…”
”Hey, Kento… haven’t you seen enough?” Tania asked.
”Seriously, you’re staring a bit too hard,” Lily added.
”Wait a moment. I haven’t checked the scent yet—”
”Ack!! I told you NO SNIFFING!” Laika screamed.
Well, I’d managed to secure some decent samples. Whether they’d actually help me “resurrect” the Warrior remained to be seen, but it was a start. And for the record, I wasn’t doing this just to see them blush or to catch a whiff of their “personal” scents.
(Though, sadly, George was so well-maintained he didn’t smell like anything but soap.)

Summary:
Kento inspects a battered ‘Ddo-Buddy’ named Alex, brought in by Barbara for repair. He discusses the history of the product with Lily, Tania, and Laika, recalling how Laika’s endorsement saved the shop during a legal crisis. To aid his research, Kento convinces Laika and Tania to let him inspect their personal units, leading to comedic embarrassment.
—
Trivia:
- Laika’s ‘George’ is actually older than ‘Alex’ and was a pre-release prototype.
- Naming s*x toys is a cultural trend started specifically by the beast-folk to cope with Estrus.
- The ‘Tremble’ model was the first to have internal automation, making them seem ‘alive’ to users.
- Tania acted as the middleman to hire Laika for material gathering two years ago.
- The shop faced a ‘Heresy Trial’ that nearly banned their top product
—
Character Insight:
Laika displays a mix of maternal domesticity and lingering embarrassment over her past ‘public’ advocacy for s*x toys. Kento demonstrates his single-minded artisan nature, often overlooking social boundaries in the name of ‘research.’
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author noted in the preamble that they consolidated the name of Laika’s ‘Buddy’ to George, correcting a previous inconsistency where it was briefly called Alex.

TL Notes:
Notes:
• Barbara – A weary doctor in a crisp white coat, senior disciple of Old Lady Miranda and sister‑disciple to Kento, works in Flower Town’s Hanamachi. She reliably bridges the protagonist and anonymous clients, acting as the intermediary for repair requests.
• Lily – Pink-haired, blue-eyed woman with a medium bust, called a wanton by the protagonist, is the slave and primary test subject of the Harvest magic shop. She hides her magic knowledge from the slave trader and serves as Kento’s love‑slave, quietly watching the repair work.
• Tania – An elven adventurer, Kento’s love‑elf, defies her race’s low‑desire reputation with passionate, easily embarrassed charm. She wears light armor over a simple tunic and short pants, exuding grace. Senior‑junior to Raika, she’s a seasoned Harvest shopper, constantly buying pleasure items while keeping a dignified façade.
• Laika – Kento’s love‑dog, a beast‑man with shaggy brown fur, amber eyes and a scar across his snout, wears a weathered leather coat. An A‑rank adventurer and devoted mother, he calls his companion ‘Dildo‑Buddy’ George.
• Kento – Lord Harvest—the unassuming owner of the Harvest magic tool shop (with a discreet adult goods side). An isekai’d Japanese salaryman resembling Kazuma Satou, with dark hair and basic magic for crafting. Recently triumphed over a Great Dragon; now juggles his harem, tinkering, and ties to Amelia and the Queen at Ddo-Buddy Manor.
