Volume 4 Chapter 6 Sincerity

Don! Simultaneously with the signal to start, Gerta charged in with Instant Movement¹. Well, that figures. The starting position was about 10m away, but if you have Instant Movement skills above a certain level, it’s a distance that can be closed in an instant.

Since it was within my expectations, I parried and endured the swung-down greatsword, exchanged a few blows, and then pulled away. Each single strike is heavy, so I’d lose if I traded blows head-on.

 ”You’re pretty good,” Gerta said.

 ”You’re as expected, Gerta-san,” I replied.

While talking, I use Appraisal² to measure Gerta’s ability. (I didn’t use it before the duel started because I felt it was a bit unfair.)

Gerta’s Class is High-Strength Warrior, which seems to be a derivative of the Warrior-type Class. Her level is 47. As expected, her STR Ability score is high; that’s the only area where I’m losing. However, since my other Ability scores, including VIT, are higher, I’m winning overall.

Her combat-related skills include Swordsmanship (7), Step (7), Instant Movement (6), Maten³ (6), Danger Sense (6), Magic Blade (5), Roar (4), Beastification (3), and so on.

Unlike levels, skills can hardly be power-leveled, so this skill composition proves that Gerta is a veteran warrior.

”I thought you were a Sorcerer-type with that sword and shield being a bluff,” Gerta said. “As I thought, it looks like my strength is a bit higher, but I can’t push through even with my Swordsmanship skills. I guess you are a B-Rank for a reason.”

”Have you felt like surrendering?” I asked.

(I doubt it, but I’ll ask just in case.)

”Don’t give me that crap!” Gerta shouted.

 (Thought so.)

Thump! The sound of heavy stepping echoed again as Gerta charged in with Instant Movement. She strikes violently, but I move in and out with fine steps to avoid her.

I parry what seems impossible to dodge, ensuring I don’t get dragged into a pure contest of strength. It seems difficult to make Gerta admit defeat with a passive stance, so I start adding attacks bit by bit. (It’s difficult to adjust my strength because there’s a possibility of causing a major injury if I go all out suddenly. I rarely do interpersonal combat, after all.)

I slash at the exposed skin while holding back my strength, but perhaps because barrier magic is imbued in her armor, the attacks don’t go through.

”You think such naive attacks will work!?” Gerta taunted.

 ”It’s just beginning,” I said.

Since I have no choice, I slash with more strength. As expected, it passes through a little, and wounds gradually increase on Gerta.

”Still naive! Come at me with the intent to kill!” Gerta shouted.

”If I kill you, I lose,” I replied.

Gerta taunts me while swinging the heavy sword and unleashing one-hit-kill attacks in succession. (She’s saying that while knowing the rule that killing means losing. I don’t think she intends to die and leave the rest to her party members, so I think she’s just excited.) However, no matter how much the number of scratches increases, it seems impossible to break Gerta’s spirit. I’ll have to incapacitate or knock her out to settle this.

”Is that the end of your attacks! Here I go!” Gerta yelled.

 ”I wasn’t exactly waiting,” I said.

She grinned, showing her jagged teeth, and changed the quality of her movements. Until now, it was a powerful swinging motion, but now it’s a sharp and fast movement with a changed rhythm.

However, since Danger Sense is reacting, it seems like it would be bad to do the same as before. I dodge somewhat exaggeratedly out of caution, but the slash that I should have avoided is hitting me.

 ”Ngh! …This is?” I muttered.

”Hmph! There’s no way I’d go out of my way to tell you!” Gerta laughed.

(Fair enough. However, if I don’t solve this trick, the damage will pile up. Hmm, the possibility is Magic Blade. I think she is putting out a magic blade in a way that extends the tip of the greatsword.)

When I focus my consciousness on Mana Sensing, there is indeed a reaction at the tip of Gerta’s greatsword. Unfortunately, I don’t know exactly how long it is. I would probably see it with the Magic Vision skill.

”Tch, you noticed already. But this isn’t the end!” Gerta cried.

 ”Ugh!” I groaned.

The reaction starts appearing in the middle of the sword, the armor, and the gauntlets. Is this ‘Spiked Armor’ or something?! I’m guarding with Maten, so the damage from a single hit isn’t large, but it’ll be tough if I keep taking them.

”Excuse me for a moment!” I shouted.

 ”Wha!?” Gerta gasped.

I launch a Fireball toward her face. It will likely do almost no damage, but the purpose is a distraction. I succeeded in pulling away for a moment. I recover with Healing Magic and further acquire the Magic Vision skill.

[Required experience points met. Acquired Magic Vision skill.]

(It’s almost meaningless right now, but if the battle drags on, the skill level will likely rise. I don’t intend to let it drag on that long, though.)

”You’re impressive,” Gerta said. “To think you’d use it in such a clever way. But you, were you a Magic Swordsman? You can even use Healing Magic; this is like a do-over.”

(The content of what she’s saying sounds annoyed, but her expression looks like she’s having fun. Is she a battle maniac?)

”Already done. Here I go! Gaaaaah!” Gerta roared.

Gerta, realizing the roar didn’t work, throws her greatsword to narrow my movement range and spreads both hands to try to grapple me. (It’s a passionate hug from a wild-type beauty, but it would become quite difficult if I took this, so I will avoid it with a heavy heart.) I step back and dodge it at the last second, making Gerta swing at thin air.

 ”Nuuuh!” Gerta grunted.

I step in and perform the Iron Mountain Lean. Gerta tries to pull her body back, but she’s not in time. With a strike carrying the Impact Attribute and Piercing Attribute, Gerta is blown away and makes a sound like an explosion as she hits the wall of the training ground.

”You’re tough to an appalling degree…” I said as Gerta emerged from the rubble.

”Hahahaha! To think your martial arts are also high level! Now, let’s continue… Gaha!” Gerta vomited blood and fell to her knees.

”Since she cannot stand, I deem her incapacitated,” Karl declared.

”Wait! I still… Gafu, goho, goho,” Gerta protested while crouching.

”Gerta is certified as incapacitated. The winner is Daisuke!” Karl proclaimed.

”Great Heal,” I chanted, approaching the fallen Gerta. “I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I have two favors to ask-will you hear me out?”

”Sure, let’s hear them,” Gerta replied after standing up.

(I wonder what Gerta wants? She’s a total battle maniac, so maybe she wants a rematch down the line?)

”First off, that way you’re talking… just speak normally,” Gerta said. “There’s no need to be so formal with someone you just beat.”

”Ah-yeah, okay. Is this better?” I asked.

”Yeah,” Gerta said. “The other thing? I want you to have s*x with me.”

 ”Huh?” I blurted.

 Summary:

Daisuke and Gerta engage in a high-intensity duel over the ownership of the slave Camilla. Daisuke utilizes his versatility as a Magic Swordsman to overcome Gerta’s overwhelming physical strength and her ‘Magic Blade’ trick. After securing victory with a powerful martial arts strike, Daisuke shows mercy by healing Gerta and requesting she treat future slaves with humanity. The chapter ends on a shocking note as Gerta, moved by Daisuke’s strength and character, bluntly asks him to have s*x with her.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Gerta’s refusal to use ‘Beastification’ or underhanded tactics during the duel suggests a rigid warrior’s code that Daisuke eventually exploits through respect.

 - The mention of ‘Magic Vision’ being level 4 hints at the necessity of higher-tier perception for upcoming battles against invisible or magic-shrouded threats.

 - Daisuke’s internal monologue about rarely doing interpersonal combat highlights his primary experience as a monster hunter, which may become a plot point if he faces more human antagonists

 —

 Character Insight:

The dynamic between Daisuke and Gerta shifts from antagonistic rivalry to mutual warrior respect. Gerta’s blunt proposition at the end indicates a complete shift in her view of Daisuke from a ‘weak sorcerer’ to a dominant male she respects.

 —

 Lore And Worldbuilding Context:

The duel introduces ‘Guild-style Individual Matches’ and reveals that skill levels (like Swordsmanship level 7) are harder to obtain than raw levels. The ‘Magic Blade’ skill illustrates how Mana can be used to extend weapon range and create defensive hazards on armor.

 —

 TL Notes:

Gerta’s use of ‘Ore’ (masculine ‘I’) throughout the text defines her tomboyish/warrior archetype. The translation preserves her bluntness to contrast with Daisuke’s more measured internal dialogue.
