”Umu. Indeed, this one is Tatei Kozode-gozaru,” Tatei said, his voice carrying an old-fashioned, formal weight.
”I’m Yokoo Manabu, na,” Yokoo added.

They had changed way too much. They were nothing like the kids I knew in high school. Then I noticed it-a ring on Yokoo’s left ring finger.
”You’re… married…”
I felt a sudden, crushing sense of defeat. My knees buckled, and I sank toward the floor.
”Ah, I’m… Yamihama…” the woman said, looking a bit awkward.
”Honestly, I don’t really care about you, Yamihama-san,” I muttered.
”Don’t you think that’s a little harsh?!” Yamihama cried.
Well, it wasn’t that I truly didn’t care. It was just that compared to the guys, she hadn’t changed that drastically. She’d just proven the “hot once she takes off her glasses” trope was real. I also never realized she was that well-endowed; I guess she was just the type who looked thinner in clothes.
”So, what are you all doing these days?”
”The three of us are just killing time-gozaru,” Tatei said.
”No, that’s not what I meant.”
”I know. I was just playing the fool-gozaru. I work at an auto repair shop now. I’ve even secured my professional certifications-gozaru,” Tatei explained.

”H-Hey… Tenkouin-san. A lot has happened, but… you look well,” I stammered.
”Yes, I’ve finally finished paying off my debts. And I’ve found my true calling, my dears-desuwa,” Tenkouin said.
”Your calling?”
I wondered what it was. Since she loved gambling, maybe she was in some underground high-stakes circuit? Is that how she paid the debt?
”I’m an Adult Film Star-desuwa.”
”…P-pardon?”
”I. Am. An. A. V. Ac-tress-desuwa!”
That was the second massive shock of the day. But she wasn’t finished.

”That incident.” The time the video of the bullying against him went viral and the world turned against them. Tenkouin-san was doxxed, but it went deeper than that. Because she was the face of the bullying, her family’s credibility vanished. Every business under the Tenkouin Zaibatsu was forced to fold. The lawsuits and reparations buried them. The conglomerate was dismantled; they were bankrupt. She had no capital to gamble with, so she could only pay the debt through… other means.
She’d paid her tuition in advance, so she graduated, but her two “lackeys” ditched her immediately. That’s when her dynamic with Samidare flipped. Initially, Samidare was going to leave too, but she couldn’t walk away when Tenkouin-san started crying and begging. Samidare had faced her share of slander and harassment too, and she used to take that frustration out on Tenkouin-san.

So after graduation, she dove straight into the adult industry. It was a pretty grim story. Or was it? She looked happy, so maybe it wasn’t.

’If you’re going to bully Satsuki-sama, then bully me instead!’
It sounds like she’d had a change of heart and was being noble, but in reality, she just wanted to feel the pleasure of the abuse. The two of them beat her without mercy. But…

They got a payout and positions, but the dismantling of the Zaibatsu wiped them out. Their income vanished, their land was gone, and the money was spent. Her parents took all that rage out on her.
’It’s your fault we’re in this mess.’
Obviously, it was the fault of the parents who sold the land in the first place. But they refused to take the blame, choosing to break their daughter instead. Nigotori-san’s mind shattered, and she escaped this world through suicide. Her parents were arrested later, but they showed no remorse. “We aren’t wrong. She tricked us into this poverty. She deserved to be punished.”
I remember a news story about that seven years ago. The names were blurred out and it faded quickly, but so that was about her parents… For Nigotori-san, everything she did to others came back to haunt her. Karma. Retribution.
The thought that I could have ended up just like them makes my blood run cold.
