Volume 5 Chapter 15 Saint

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The next day was Yellow Day¹. My partner the night before had been Vanessa. Unlike Ilse, who was still developing, Vanessa was a masterpiece of adulthood – lightly defined abs and firm, supple thighs. Taking charge and driving into her from every angle had been an erotic blur of her writhing in pleasure. (Of course, that was just a daydream.)

After giving Ilse her “reward” at the inn the previous night, I had ended up carrying her home on my shoulders after she passed out. A proper shower had been out of the question, but I used Water Magic to rinse her off so she wasn’t left in a mess. When I finally made it back, Camilla was still awake, but Liese had followed my orders and gone to bed. Since my room had a spare bed for Camilla, I tucked Ilse in there and spent the rest of the night falling asleep beside Camilla.

Regarding the move, I filled Yumiko-san in while consulting her about Ilse. She agreed to pass the word to the Yamato Nadeshiko² party, as well as Rei-san and Manami-san. I also sent a letter to the Gale Party via the Guild. I kept the mention of taking Ilse in brief; I’ll give them the full story later. I just hoped the news of our s*xual relationship wouldn’t cause the innocent Ines to have a total meltdown.

Since our schedules actually lined up today, I decided to take Camilla to the temple to meet Mizuki. Hina is close with her, so she came along to act as a bridge. It felt halfway like a date, though if I said that out loud, Hina would probably freeze up. Liese and Ilse stayed behind to watch the house. I gave Ilse a bow and told her to get some practice in if she was bored, though I made sure she knew that since it was Yellow Day, she was more than welcome to just relax.

I had plans for the library in the afternoon, so we headed to the temple in the morning. I set the meeting point at the fountain square. It was a bit of a walk from the temple, but standing right in front of the gates would look suspicious, and the square was an easy landmark. I was just passing the time stroking Camilla’s ears when Hina arrived, a few minutes early.

 ”G-G-Good morning…!” Hina stammered.

 ”Morning, Hina,” I said.

She was rocking a girly style today that really suited her, but she was wound tight. Her shoulders were stiff and her face was bright red. I bet Nanami had been whispering some weird ideas into her head. It was a bit pitiful to see her this worked up, so I tried to break the ice as we walked hand-in-hand with Camilla.

”You’re pretty tight with Mizuki and Nanami, right? Did you guys hang out much back in Japan?” I asked.

”Y-Yeah, I guess,” Hina replied. “Mizuki’s family was pretty strict, so she couldn’t get out as much, but Nanami and I would hit the town sometimes.”

 ”Oh? Where’d you go?”

”Um, shopping in Shibuya or Harajuku, mostly. In the summer, we’d go to the beach or hit up water parks,” Hina said.

”Shopping in Shibuya, huh? The beach and pools sound like a blast. Real high-energy stuff,” I remarked.

”No, it wasn’t really that big a deal…” Hina murmured.

Her nerves seemed to settle whenever the topic shifts to her friends. I decided to keep the momentum going. “Weren’t you in the basketball club? Did you enjoy it?”

”I did! The training was brutal, but it was worth it. We actually won the regional tournament, and I was really close with my teammates,” Hina said. Her gaze drifted for a moment, lost in a memory from a year ago. If she was that dedicated to her sport, she must have had a really fulfilling life. I could only imagine how lonely it felt to be ripped away from all that. In a way, her situation was the polar opposite of mine. I had hated my job, and most of my friends had already moved on to married life.

”Must have been lonely, being brought here right when things were going so well,” I said.

”In the beginning, yeah. Nanami and Mizuki were roommates, so they kept things from getting too dark, but there were moments when it’d just hit me out of nowhere and I’d slump. I’m a lot better now, though,” Hina said. She gave me a little smile at the end, and I could tell she was being genuine. Hina really was a sweetheart.

”I can see how Nanami would make it hard to stay depressed for long,” I noted.

”Yeah, though keeping up with her is a full-time job,” Hina added with a wry chuckle. Her eyes were kind; you could tell she really cared about Nanami. I was just glad she hadn’t snapped under the pressure like Yuko. Yuko had a habit of shutting everyone out and letting the stress eat her alive.

Now that Hina was relaxed, we chatted our way toward the temple, focusing more on life in this world than the past.

”So, Hina, no boyfriend yet?” I asked.

”No… life’s just been so busy, you know? It’s tough. Most adventurers are… well, let’s just say we don’t really vibe. And I don’t really run into people from other lines of work,” Hina admitted. She was being polite, but it was clear she wasn’t into the “all brawn, no brain” types.

”That’s a shame. Especially since you’re so cute,” I said.

”Wait! No! I’m really not…!” Hina cried.

We weren’t quite at the stage for heavy flirting, so I was just testing the waters, but she clearly wasn’t used to being praised. “My legs are way too thick from sports, and my face isn’t anything special…”

”I don’t think so. You might worry about your legs, but I think they look fit and healthy. Your outfit today looks great on you, too. You’re definitely a cute girl, Hina,” I told her.

”Ugh…” Hina groaned. She turned beet red and shut down again. Just when she was starting to talk like a normal person, we were right back to square one.

”S-So, what about you, Daisuke-san? I know you live with Liese-san and Camilla-chan, but have you… found a girlfriend here?” Hina asked.

”Hmm? Oh, yeah. I have one,” I said. She had managed to rally enough for a counter-question. I had nothing to hide, so I gave it to her straight. She clearly hadn’t heard about Ines.

”What?! But didn’t you have those skills that make it nearly impossible to raise favorability?”

”I do. It was a massive pain, but I managed to make it work through mostly legitimate means. It’s a girl named Ines from the party that mentored me when I first arrived,” I explained. I gave her the cliff notes on how Ines and I got together. Camilla didn’t seem surprised at all; she’d seen us together plenty of times. She just seemed thrilled to be out on a walk, holding my hand and smiling.

”I see… I honestly didn’t think you’d beat us to the punch, Daisuke-san. Talk about a plot twist,” Hina said.

”Hey, I worked hard for it! But look, you can’t force these things. It’ll happen when it happens,” I said. While we were talking, the temple finally came into view.

The Saint is what people here call a High-Rank Class, and for good reason – it’s incredibly powerful. With an S-rank growth rate in MP and MND and C-rank or higher in everything else, they don’t really have a weak spot. They aren’t built for the front lines, obviously, but they can hold their own in a scrap. As a rearguard, they’re top-tier.

While it’s a rare class, it’s not unheard of. Unlike a Hero, who only appears once every eighty years, Saints are just “very rare.” If you went to the Sangster Holy State, you’d probably find a handful of them along with some Holy Ones. Because of that, Mizuki wasn’t whisked away to the Holy State like the Hero was. Still, a High-Rank Class is a big deal, and the temple must have been desperate to recruit her. A native Saint would take over fifty years to learn “Revive,” but a Saint with the blessings of the Green God can pull it off in just a few. To the temple, she was an asset they could utilize for decades to come.

Once we arrived, I had Hina call for Mizuki. I wasn’t exactly on her favorites list, so she might not even come out if I was the one asking.

”Sorry to drop in on you like this, Mizuki,” Hina said.

”What is it, Hina? …Wait. That child…” Mizuki paused.

”Do you remember? A year ago at the Guild – the fight with that adventurer who was beating his slave. This is the girl,” Hina explained.

”…I remember. You’re… you’re safe,” Mizuki whispered. She looked at Camilla, and suddenly her eyes were shimmering with tears. She had been the one who tried hardest to save her back then; it had clearly been eating at her.

”A lot has happened, but she’s with me now. Camilla, do you remember her?” I asked.

”I do! Master was the one who fixed me!” Camilla cheered.

 ”Daisuke-san…?” Mizuki murmured.

Camilla’s tail started thumping against the floor with excitement. I hadn’t actually asked her if she remembered that day, but it felt good to know she did. But Camilla, look at Mizuki! The air was getting a little awkward.

”That’s right. And Mizuki was the one who was fighting her hardest to help you that day,” I reminded her.

”Oh! Right. Thank you so much, Lady Mizuki,” Camilla said. Being the shy girl she was, she gave a very formal, stranger-friendly thank you. I guessed that was as good as it was going to get.

”No… I didn’t do anything. I couldn’t save you in the end…” Mizuki said. She was slumping so hard I could practically see the gloom clouds forming. That day had really left a scar.

”You might not have been the one to pull her out, Mizuki, but you’re the reason I stepped in to begin with. So, thank you. I mean it,” I said.

”I… I see. If she’s happy now – if Camilla is truly safe – then I suppose what I did wasn’t for nothing,” Mizuki said. She finally perked up, and the heavy atmosphere started to lift.

”Are you having fun now, Camilla?” Mizuki asked.

”Yes! I love being with Master! It’s the best!” Camilla exclaimed.

”Thanks, Camilla. I’m having a great time, too,” I said. Hearing her say it out loud finally put Mizuki at ease. I gave Camilla a good, messy hair-rub, and she leaned into it, looking ecstatic.

”Ehehe! Master!” Camilla giggled. She clung to me, rubbing her cheek against mine like she’s trying to mark me.

”She really does look happy. She’s so attached to you, Daisuke-san. A year ago, she looked like her whole world was ending…” Mizuki mused.

”She really is a cutie, isn’t she?” Hina added, clearly falling for Camilla’s charm.

Talking with Mizuki, it sounded like while she was recruited heavily for her class, she actually chose to join the temple because of that incident a year ago. She felt powerless, and she wanted to at least save the kids right in front of her. That explained why I kept seeing her at the orphanage; she’s been volunteering there since she arrived.

”It’s not quite like back home, but I can feel the presence of a ‘Lord’ in this world lately,” Mizuki said.

”So it’s not just my imagination,” I noted.

”Well, Mizuki is a Saint here, after all,” Hina said.

Mizuki apparently had a connection to the divine back in Japan, and it had followed her here. I wondered if she’d picked up Divine Oracle or some other spooky skill. Not for me, thanks. If that skill hit level 10, it felt like your whole life would be an open book to the gods.

Anyway, I’d been thinking about getting her a gift. “I gave the other girls some cosmetics, but you mentioned you weren’t interested. Would some meat for the orphanage work instead?”

”Actually, yes. I wouldn’t have much use for makeup, but meat is a huge luxury for the kids. A treat like that would be wonderful,” Mizuki said.

”Want me to just dump it into your Item Box?”

 ”Please.”

I handed over three Orcs and three Minotaurs. I wasn’t sure exactly how many kids were there, but it probably wouldn’t last forever.

”T-That’s… quite a bit of meat,” Mizuki stammered.

”You think so?” I asked. I hadn’t really thought about the size of her Item Box, but for a normal person, that was a massive haul. Oh well, I just hoped the kids enjoyed it.

”Well, we should probably get going. Thanks for hanging out with us today,” I said.

”I’ll come visit again soon! Take care of yourself, Mizuki,” Hina said.

”You too, Hina. Don’t go doing anything too dangerous – you are an adventurer, after all,” Mizuki warned.

”I know, I know. Thanks,” Hina replied. The way those two talked, you could tell they were really close. They both looked a little sad to say goodbye.

After that, Hina, Camilla, and I grabbed some food. Hina was back to being a total statue, though. I didn’t think it was even me – she just seemed completely out of her element on a date. If I’m going to make a move on Hina, I’ve clearly got my work cut out for me.

 Character Insight:

Mizuki and Camilla’s relationship reaches a turning point; Mizuki finds closure for her past failure, while Camilla confirms her current happiness. Daisuke’s relationship with Hina remains in an awkward, early-romantic phase, as evidenced by Hina’s ‘statue-like’ nervousness during their meal.

 —

 Lore And Worldbuilding Context:

Saved by Daisuke, she guides Nicola’s first dungeon run, thriving in Orc‑infested zones and possessing Sleep Resistance.

Once a merchant guild worker turned bandit, she is now under Daisuke’s care as a companion and party member. Headstrong and blunt, yet diligent, she wields her bow skillfully, her Scavenger skill and high Fortitude supporting her growth.

• Camilla – a 14-year-old fox-type beastkin (~140 cm, thin, fluffy tail, twitching ears, wearing accessories), is Daisuke’s devoted Illusion Magic user. Formerly abused by an adventurer before her rescue, her tail thumps when excited. Deeply attached to “Master” Daisuke, she fears abandonment, constantly seeking his scent and approval. Socially anxious yet easily pleased, she clings to him, follows him everywhere, and diligently cleans their home, serving as his loyal subordinate and companion.

• Liese – A 170cm Dragonewt (Level 16) with grey-blue hair, thick horns, and grey scales on her neck and limbs. A former Grünewald guild trainee and spear-user, she serves as Daisuke’s disciplined, loyal vanguard. Despite facing Imperial discrimination, she maintains strict etiquette and acts as a senior guide for the other girls in the household. Her tail thumps to betray her emotions while she serves her master.

• Manami – Leemans, a sharp‑eyed former office worker and Working Women Party member, now a dedicated Tamer who retired to open a cat café. She bonds with party allies and future patrons while caring for cats with elegant poise.

• Yumiko – A 155cm Bow Saint and the eldest Transferee, this 17-year-old former corporate worker and Kyudo enthusiast leads the Yamato Nadeshiko party. Fiercely loyal, she is deeply affectionate toward Daisuke, masking low self-esteem with gentle composure.

• Rei – A 155 cm Magic-Clad transferee from Earth with twin-tails, thick chest armor, and a bright, high-energy aura. • Hina – A 160 cm athletic high school transferee and former basketball player with a toned build, self-conscious thick legs, and a ponytail beneath light chest armor. Once a knight, she’s now a level-headed instant swordswoman. Protective of Mizuki and the straight-man to Nanami’s antics, she remains shy, clumsy, and easily embarrassed.

• Nanami – 165 cm slender high‑school girl with short hair and modest chest armor, nicknamed Mermaid for her underwater diving skill. She’s a stealth‑class transferee in the all‑female JK Party and a member of ‘Yamato Nadeshiko’, playful and flirtatious. She befriends peers to gather intel, slips into school life, and famously kissed Daisuke on the cheek while teasing him.

• Yuko – 17‑year‑old high‑schooler, reincarnated from a 40‑year‑old Earth civil servant and former tech‑track professional, wears a half‑up hairstyle, thin chest armor, stands 160 cm with a standard build. Polite but low‑motivation, poor etiquette. Apprentice to Lady Xaveria, acquaintance of Daisuke, battling entitlement and stress.

• Daisuke – A mid-40s Japanese transferee and B-Rank adventurer (Lv. 69) blessed by the Green God. He excels in Earth/Wind magic, stealth, and high-speed combat while wearing Radiant Iron gear and a vintage watch.
