Volume 5 Chapter 16 Declaration

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

While at the library, I spent my time researching the warning signs of a “Dungeon Upheaval¹.” There were so few precedents that I couldn’t get a clear picture, but it seems that monster spawns typically spike shortly before an event, only to plummet right before it actually begins.

(Thinking back on it, I’d triggered ‘overkill’ rewards multiple times the week before the Upheaval started, yet I didn’t actually lose much time-and then the encounter rate dropped off a cliff right before the chaos hit. Since these events are so rare, I’d never bothered to study them properly. I wonder if I could have done more if I’d known… though, I probably would’ve just ended up panic-buying groceries. Then again, if I’d known, I might have avoided the dungeon for a few days. In that sense, I’m actually glad I was in the dark; it’s the only reason I was there to save Camilla.)

The death toll among adventurers for this “Dungeon Upheaval” was reportedly in the dozens. Fortunately, I didn’t know any of the deceased, but Camilla was a hair’s breadth from death herself. Liese would have been in just as much danger. I really need to get them all-including Ilse-trained up soon. In this world, a low level truly is a death sentence.

Even in the Royal Capital’s dungeon, minor Upheavals seem to happen once every few years. Records show those are usually small-scale, just shuffling which monsters appear or shifting the cave layout. But this one was massive; an Upheaval on this scale hasn’t occurred in centuries. Now that it’s transformed into an almost entirely outdoor field, the adventurers who were used to the old cave systems are going to have a rough time. Though, I’m sure the merchants and the Adventurer’s Guild are thrilled about the influx of rare, useful monsters.

(Speaking of the dungeon pre-Upheaval, apparently, a canyon field had started appearing from the 21st floor onward, spawning things like Wyverns. I’m not sure what the current layout looks like, but since Wyverns are such a goldmine for materials, I bet they’ve stuck around. Unfortunately, my Ability score²s aren’t high enough yet. Even if I could make it down there, taking one down would be a suicide mission. The recommended level for a Wyvern is 54, but with my ‘C’ growth rates across the board, I’d probably need to hit level 82 just to stand a chance…)

”Good evening, Daisuke-san. You’re as diligent as ever,” Clarissa said.

”Good evening, Clarissa-san. I was just looking into that ‘Dungeon Upheaval’ I got caught in the other day,” I replied.

It had been since our date last week that I’d last seen Clarissa-san. She was in her usual librarian uniform, wearing that wonderful smile of hers. (She tends to put herself down, but she really is a beautiful, charming woman. Usually, I’d just have her walk me to the exit, but now I had this!)

”Clarissa-san, would you mind giving me one of those ‘anytime’ hugs?” I asked.

”Of course. Here you go ♡,” Clarissa replied.

As she pulled me in, I was enveloped in her softness and the faint scent of roses. (Securing the ‘Anytime Hug Rights’ was definitely the best move I ever made…!)

”Thank you. There really is nothing like a hug from you, Clarissa-san,” I said.

”My, Daisuke-san… ♡ You’re such a spoiled boy, acting like this right in front of Camilla-chan ♪,” Clarissa teased.

”Do you want a hug too, Camilla?” I asked.

”Master, would it be alright if I… clung to your back?” Camilla asked.

”Hm? Sure. Then Clarissa-san, one more time, please,” I requested.

”Yes, with pleasure ♡,” Clarissa said.

(Oh man, this is it…! Clarissa-san’s softness from the front, and Camilla pressing and rubbing in from behind. This is pure bliss. I could definitely get addicted to this.)

”Haa… that was everything I needed,” I let out a satisfied sigh.

”Fufu, you’re welcome anytime ♡,” Clarissa said.

 ”Thanks, Camilla,” I added.

 ”Yes, Master!” Camilla chirped.

(While I’m in the middle of making my move on Clarissa-san, I figured I should check if she had any hang-ups about me dating Ines. If she’s a woman of this world, she’s probably fine with it, but I want to avoid a ‘messy’ scenario later. Takuya’s girlfriend is a total Yandere, so I know women with intense jealousy or possessiveness definitely exist here too.)

”Clarissa-san, I actually have a lover. Does that… bother you at all?” I asked.

”? Why would that be a problem?” Clarissa tilted her head.

(Just as I thought. I’d expected as much after talking to Ines, but since polygamy is common in this world, people don’t seem to give it a second thought.)

”No, I just thought that if you minded, I’d have to give up on pursuing you. But if you’re okay with it, I’d like to keep things as they are,” I explained.

”Yes, I don’t mind in the slightest,” Clarissa smiled.

(Clarissa-san’s gentle smile is like a tonic for the soul… I seriously wish I could have one of her in every home. Since she gave me the green light to keep flirting, I’ve got to give it my all.)

”Then, one last time, please. You too, Camilla,” I pleaded.

”My, you really are a spoiled one ♡,” Clarissa giggled.

 ”Coming, Master!” Camilla exclaimed.

Sandwiched between Clarissa-san and Camilla, I finally left the library, feeling completely rejuvenated.

I was walking home hand-in-hand with Camilla when we ran into Dietlinde-san.

 ”Good evening, Dietlinde-san,” I said.

 ”Good evening, Daisuke-san,” Dietlinde replied.

(She was cool and composed as always, but her voice seemed just a little bit softer… maybe. Probably. Regardless, it looked like she’d been run ragged by work related to the Upheaval. She looked exhausted.)

 ”Great Heal³! Refresh!” I chanted.

”Thank you, as always,” Dietlinde said.

”Don’t mention it. I can’t exactly help out with Guild paperwork, so this is the least I can do,” I insisted.

(Things should quiet down in a few days, so I hope she can hang in there. But if things get truly overwhelming, I think it’s important to just take a break.)

”Thanks again for the date the other day. I’m really glad we could get to know each other better. How did you feel about it?” I asked.

”No, the pleasure was mine. It was a very… precious experience for me,” Dietlinde replied.

(Hmm. The way she almost said ‘fun’ but pulled it back suggests she’s still being a bit too reserved. Well, we’ve only been on one date, so I guess it’s to be expected. We can just keep getting closer from here.)

”I’m just glad you enjoyed yourself. Let’s do it again next month, okay?” I suggested.

 ”Yes,” Dietlinde nodded.

(I decided to check the ‘lover’ situation with Dietlinde-san as well.)

”Dietlinde-san, I already have a lover. Is that still okay with you?” I asked.

”? Yes. I see no problem with that,” Dietlinde answered simply.

(Even Dietlinde-san gave me an easy ‘okay.’ Am I overthinking this? No, a girl who’d transferred from Earth would definitely care, so checking was the right move.)

”That reminds me, I went to the temple earlier and introduced Camilla to Mizuki. She’s been worried about Camilla for a year now, so seeing her really put her mind at ease,” I mentioned.

”Is that so? It seems Mizuki has officially entered the temple recently. From the Guild’s perspective, losing such a capable adventurer is a heavy blow, but I suppose it’s unavoidable,” Dietlinde remarked.

(As a Guild staffer, Dietlinde-san probably wanted someone with a top-tier class like ‘Saint’ to keep contributing to the ranks.)

”Were you headed to the temple… or the orphanage today? Sorry for holding you up,” I apologized.

”No, it’s quite alright. Well then, if you’ll excuse me,” Dietlinde said as she departed.

(Dietlinde-san’s attitude is-at a level almost impossible to detect-definitely thawing. I don’t know how long the road ahead is, but there’s definitely hope!)

After dropping Camilla off at home, I doubled back to head out for my date with the Gale Party. Liese was hard at work training as usual, but Ilse was actually joining her today. (Apparently, she’d slept all morning. That’s a perfectly valid way to spend a rest day, so I’m glad she’s catching up on sleep.) I waited at our usual spot by the fountain square for a few minutes.

 ”Sorry we’re late,” Ines said.

”Did you wait long?” Juliet asked.

”You’re always so early ♪,” Sylvie chirped.

 ”Not really,” I smiled.

(The three of them always arrive together, but lately, Juliet has been the one to greet me first. The way her tail was swishing told me she was in a good mood. She was in her usual hot pants, her bare legs looking absolutely radiant. They’re healthily toned and-though I’d never tell her this-exactly my type. Thank you, world.)

(Ines seems to prefer a more polished look, and today was no exception. She was wearing a short-sleeved shirt-a rarity for her-along with a knee-length skirt and short boots that suited her perfectly. Sylvie was in her signature cute sundress. Her constant, beaming smile is just wonderful; if she had wings, she’d look exactly like a delicate fairy.)

”I heard you moved, Daisuke-san,” Ines noted.

”I did. It’s just a rental for now, but I’m planning to buy a place soon. It’s still within the Capital, just a bit further out from the city center,” I explained.

”A B-Rank adventurer’s earnings really are in a league of their own, aren’t they?” Juliet commented.

”So, what’s the new house like?” Ines asked.

”It’s a bit further out than the inn, but it’s got a big yard. There are three private bedrooms and a common area; the four of us are living there together,” I said.

”Oh right, you wrote in your letter that you’d added someone else,” Ines remembered.

(It looks like they’d already read the letter I sent yesterday. Since there aren’t many other ways to stay in touch, they must check their mail pretty frequently.)

”Yeah. A tiger-beastman girl named Ilse. She’s a bit of a brat, but she’s cute in her own way,” I described.

”A ‘brat but cute’…?” Ines repeated.

”Your taste is as incomprehensible as ever,” Juliet teased.

”I think those kinds of girls are cute too!” Sylvie chimed in.

(Maybe it’s because they’re young, but Ines and Juliet didn’t seem to get it. A shame. Sylvie, however, was smiling and nodding along.)

”You said you’d explain how that happened when we met… is it a difficult story to tell?” Ines asked.

”Hmm, maybe not the best place for it. I’ll give you the details once we get to the restaurant,” I suggested.

 ”Understood,” Ines nodded.

”Well, let’s get moving then,” Juliet urged.

 ”On it,” I agreed.

Nudged along by Juliet, we headed for the restaurant. Ines linked her arm with mine as we walked-the sensation was pure heaven. (They’re huge.) When I looked over at her, she stared right back into my eyes, her face flushed but her gaze steady.

”Since I’m still your only official lover… this side is my ‘VIP seat,’ right?” Ines asked.

 ”Of course,” I promised.

 Summary:

Daisuke researches the ‘Dungeon Upheaval’ and learns its rare nature and warning signs before moving through a series of social interactions. He visits the library for affection from Clarissa, encounters Dietlinde for a brief professional update, and finally meets the Gale Party for a group date. The chapter emphasizes his deepening harem and his need to strengthen his subordinates for a changing world.

 —

 Trivia:

 - The change from cave-style to outdoor-type dungeon fields will fundamentally alter how adventurers hunt and travel.

 - Daisuke’s ‘C’ rank growth rate is a significant handicap that will require strategic leveling as he approaches high-level monster zones like the Wyvern canyons.

 - Dietlinde’s ‘softening’ is a subtle setup for her eventually joining Daisuke’s household, mirroring his previous successes with other women

 —

 Character Insight:

Daisuke is actively ‘policing’ his harem members’ reactions to his polyamorous lifestyle, finding that the world’s cultural norms (polygamy) make his path much easier than expected. Ines maintains her ‘First Lover’ status by claiming her ‘VIP seat’ during their date, asserting her dominance in the relationship hierarchy.

 —

 Lore And Worldbuilding Context:

Dungeon Upheavals are rare, potentially century-level events that can permanently alter a dungeon’s geography and ecology. This world follows rigid leveling and growth-rate logic, where personal stats (Ability scores) are as crucial as tactical skill.

 —

 TL Notes:

The term ‘Mogyu’ was translated as a sensory description of softness rather than a literal sound effect to maintain narrative immersion.

 —

• Camilla – a 14-year-old fox-type beastkin (~140 cm, thin, fluffy tail, twitching ears, wearing accessories), is Daisuke’s devoted Illusion Magic user. Formerly abused by an adventurer before her rescue, her tail thumps when excited. Deeply attached to “Master” Daisuke, she fears abandonment, constantly seeking his scent and approval. Socially anxious yet easily pleased, she clings to him, follows him everywhere, and diligently cleans their home, serving as his loyal subordinate and companion.

• Liese – A 170cm Dragonewt (Level 16) with grey-blue hair, thick horns, and grey scales on her neck and limbs. A former Grünewald guild trainee and spear-user, she serves as Daisuke’s disciplined, loyal vanguard. Despite facing Imperial discrimination, she maintains strict etiquette and acts as a senior guide for the other girls in the household. Her tail thumps to betray her emotions while she serves her master.

• Ilse – A 17-year-old tiger-type beastman archer with pointed ears, a thick tail, and a petite, youthful frame. Once a merchant guild worker turned bandit, she is now under Daisuke’s care as a companion and party member. Headstrong and blunt, yet diligent, she wields her bow skillfully, her Scavenger skill and high Fortitude supporting her growth.

• Clarissa – A beautiful Royal Capital librarian, Clarissa is a glamorous merchant’s daughter with blonde shoulder-length hair, soft features, and a curvy figure. • Takuya – Black-garbed masked ninja, exiled from the Hero’s party, now a Leemans member and mid-guard in Daisuke’s Salarymen crew; maintains a faux-samurai persona with archaic speech and obsessive yandere fandom, yet remains stoic and pragmatic in combat. Reincarnated, he once sought B-Rank to retire and serve a chosen one—now quietly devoted to his crew, blending stealth, geeky anime/game enthusiasm, and unwavering loyalty beneath his mask. Trains at level 20+, joins the ‘Three Idiots’ for vital-point strikes; cool-headed by default but erupts into energetic excitement upon encountering familiar anime or game content.

• Ines – A 170 cm wind-enhanced swordsman (Level 21+, D-Rank) and leader of the Gale Party, with long green hair, blue eyes, and a voluptuous build. • Dietlinde – A slender sheep-beastwoman with fluffy white curls, small spiraling horns, and subtle ears, serves as an elegant receptionist at the Maultasche Royal Capital Adventurer’s Guild. Composed yet weary, she hides deep self-disparagement beneath professional grace. Once an unsupported orphan, she endures the Dungeon Upheaval’s strain, her low heels echoing through the halls. Her reserved demeanor softens only for Daisuke—his quiet care, recovery magic, and small gifts bring rare solace, deepening her unspoken affection as she clings to calming scents and distant dreams of cosmetics.

• Mizuki – A 165 cm, standard-built high school transferee and Saint-class member of the JK Party, with long hair and modest armor. • Juliet – A 150cm cat-kin beastman from the Ducal Capital, she is a Gale Party scout and Twin Winds instructor. She has blue bob hair, cat ears, a tail, and a large chest, typically wearing a fluttery shirt with hot pants that show off her toned legs. A prickly, short-tempered tsundere who dual-wields a two-handed sword, she dislikes lewd talk and has a nekojita palate. She is Daisuke’s companion, slowly warming to him.

• Sylvie – Elf, 140 cm tall, petite loli‑like with pointed ears, long wavy blonde hair and a fairy‑like smile. Top‑ranked Gale Party adventurer and Daisuke’s spirit‑magic teacher; excels in scouting and trap detection, drinks MP potions, handles adult topics better.
