Chapter 4 Succubus Bloodline

His mind raced as Aki scrambled for a halfway decent explanation. He forced a sheepish, hesitant smile onto his face. “Actually… it turns out I have a Succubus bloodline¹.”
The three girls blinked in surprise, then gestured for him to keep talking.
It was becoming clear: in this world, not only was this their first time, but they were already tuned into the “Underworld.” They were students of the Hidden Academy. That explained exactly why a punk like that blonde kid was acting as their errand boy.
Aki put his new skills to work. He silently activated Insight Eye², observing them while spinning a web of lies to make his story more believable.
(Wait, what is that blue glow?)
Under the full power of Insight Eye, Aki noticed a faint blue energy circulating through the bodies of Sasaki Yukina and her friends. Now wasn’t the time for curiosity, though. He paused for effect, then looked at them with a deadly serious expression.
”I was always afraid I’d lose control,” he said. “I thought I might accidentally… drain a girl dry. That’s why I’ve always turned down every confession I ever got.”
He lowered his head, the picture of a blushing, embarrassed teenage boy.
”But after you guys… well, after yesterday, I realized nothing bad happened. And so… hehe.”
”And so, facing three cute classmates with killer bodies, you finally decided to let your true colors show, huh?” Kurumizaka Ruri gave “Little Aki” a playful, wicked squeeze, a mischievous smirk dancing on her lips.
Hamazaki Reina chimed in, “It’s more than just being ‘fine.’ Because of that Succubus blood, the more you exert yourself, the stronger you get. Your body’s already built much tougher than before.”
”It makes sense,” Sasaki Yukina added thoughtfully. “Succubi – and incubi – grow stronger through intimacy. For them, s*x is like food. If you go without it, you’re essentially starving yourself; it’s no wonder your body felt so frail before. Even a half-blood demon has physical specs way beyond a normal human’s. You’ve probably just finally ‘eaten’ your fill and returned to your natural state.”
Aki barely had to say a word. Hamazaki Reina and the others filled in the blanks themselves, creating a perfect web of logic. They were now fully convinced that Aki’s sudden transformation was all thanks to his bloodline. This was exactly what he wanted – most people are much quicker to believe a ‘truth’ they’ve deduced themselves.
With the deception successful, Aki quickly made an excuse to head out on his own.
”I’m home!”
Back at the Takamine residence, Aki called out as usual, but silence met him. It was Wednesday; the Takamine mother and daughter were stuck at work and school. As for him… he was definitely cutting class today.
With the house empty, it was the perfect time to test his new talents and skills. He stepped into the yard and activated Insight Eye to make sure the coast was clear. Then, he picked up a solid steel pipe he’d scavenged from the shed.
Thirty percent power… fifty percent… seventy percent…
He hadn’t even exerted his full strength yet, but the three-centimeter-thick steel was already beginning to warp and bend in his grip. Next, he tested his speed and recovery. At a full sprint, he cleared a hundred meters in under seven seconds. As for recovery – Aki wasn’t a masochist, so he kept the test simple. He gave himself a small shallow cut; the wound sealed itself instantly, leaving no trace behind.
The talent was powerful, but it had a glaring flaw: it was a massive energy drain. After just a few tests, the “meal” he’d just had was already wearing off, and he felt the hunger returning.
Once he’d replenished his energy, he tried to figure out his Mental Resistance³. He poked and prodded at the talent for a while but couldn’t find an “active” trigger.

Most talents seemed to have a passive element. Physical Activation had permanently overhauled his physique. Insight Eye had permanently sharpened his vision – not only was his nearsightedness gone, but he probably never had to worry about glasses again. If Mental Resistance worked the same way, it meant his mental fortitude was permanently reinforced. Even if it was just defense, a buff was a buff.
In any world, mental talents were rare and precious. Besides, a purely passive talent meant he didn’t have to waste time practicing it. Aki looked at the description with a complex mix of emotions. He never would have guessed that Kurumizaka Ruri would be the one to provide him with such a “God-tier” skill.
With the testing done, Aki calmed his breathing and prepared to try his one and only active skill: Basic Mana Extraction⁴.
The moment he activated the skill, a flash of intuition told him exactly what to do. He sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and began to meditate. His mind reached out to the elements drifting through the atmosphere, guiding those tiny, pale-blue specks of light into his body.
The blue motes slowly enveloped him, merging into his form from every direction. When the light finally coalesced into a steady stream within him, his first spark of mana was born. He then used his will to guide the mana, circulating it through his body. With every “cycle,” the mana grew a fraction stronger.
He poured himself into the training for over an hour. By the time his legs had gone numb, the mana in his veins was finally about as thick as a pinky finger. He broke his trance and stood up.
(Feeling the meager amount of mana I’ve managed to scrape together, I should stick to ‘conquering’ girls. I’ve sat here for over an hour and gained less than I would have from a single ’round’ with them.)
The blue energy he’d seen in Sasaki Yukina and the others was definitely mana… and honestly, they didn’t seem to have much more than he did now. He was confused for a second, but it made sense – they were only freshmen at Kuoh Academy. They’d probably only been extracting mana for a month or so themselves.
”The fact that Insight Eye can see mana is a bit of a headache,” Aki muttered. “I wonder if I can just bluff and say my mana is naturally awakening along with my bloodline.”
In the end, he decided to play it safe and dispersed the mana he’d just worked so hard to form. An hour of effort, gone in an instant. But before he let it go, he realized that mana acted as a force multiplier for his physical stats and his Insight Eye.
No wonder Sasaki Yukina and Hamazaki Reina seemed a bit more powerful and composed when they used their abilities. Even without that extra boost, though, he figured he had enough to handle that blonde punk. A lackey shouldn’t be stronger than the “Big Sister” of the group, Hamazaki Reina.
Meanwhile, Hamazaki Reina and her friends were currently buzzing with excitement.
Hamazaki Reina raised an eyebrow. “See, Yukina? I told you.”
”My strength really did go up after doing it with Uesugi.” Sasaki Yukina toyed with the ends of her peach-pink hair, her eyes narrowing. “It’s not just the mana pool; my control over my own ability has improved too.”
”But if we want to pass the mid-month exam…” Kurumizaka Ruri’s face was flushed a deep pink. “We’re going to need at least five more sessions.”
”Only five?” Hamazaki Reina gave a sultry smile. “After seeing what Uesugi could do this morning, do you really think that’s going to be a problem? Besides… gaining power this way is a hell of a lot more fun than meditating.”
Fun was an understatement. It was pure ecstasy.

• Hamazaki Reina – Long dark hair, emerald‑green eyes that flash faintly, sharp calculating gaze; wears a modern school uniform with a miniskirt and black silk stockings. She leads a trio at Kuoh Private Academy, called “Big Sister”/“Boss”, aggressively pushes Aki to grow stronger, now obedient to him and uses her Insight Eye to exploit his bloodline. Also a classmate and head of a group of four girls in the Hidden Academy/Inner World, another woman linked to Aki and leading four women physically involved with him.
