It had been several minutes since Mana collapsed onto me and went completely still.
I timidly pulled the pillow off my face… and saw her upper body, still draped over me, rising and falling with her quiet, steady breaths. It looked like she’d just blacked out after those intense convulsions.
”…Th-this smell… gulp… what the hell is it?”
Mana’s room usually had this sweet, pleasant scent that was so her. But after having my face buried in her pillow for a while, the air in the room had completely shifted.
The air was heavy now-a thick, sultry musk that seemed to cling to the inside of my nose. It wasn’t exactly a “good” smell, but it had this bizarre, intoxicating charm to it. I couldn’t stop myself from taking short, greedy breaths of it.

”……Yeah, I get it, Mana. Honestly, I should be the one apologizing. My skill… it must have some kind of weird side effect. It didn’t do anything strange when I used it on myself, and Rin-sensei was fine too… I guess I just let my guard down.”
”N-no… I was the one who asked for it. It’s my fault for not being able to control myself. It’s not like I… completely lost my mind or anything, even when it was happening. It was just… this overwhelming feeling welled up, and I couldn’t hold it back…”
”No, really, you don’t have to-“
We went back and forth for a while, both of us trying to take the blame. Eventually, we both just burst out laughing at the same time.

”Yeah. I like that better. And obviously, what happened today stays between us. I’m taking this to the grave.”

Mana finally got her bright smile back. She fidgeted a bit, doing something with her hands near her lap, before finally getting off of me. I sat up too-it felt like it had been forever since I’d been upright-and perched on the edge of her bed.
”…Next time, I’ll work harder to keep myself under control.”
”Wait… n-next? There’s gonna be a next time?”
”Yes… I know you might be disgusted after what I just did, but… this skill of yours, Kanade-kun… I think it’s incredible. I won’t know for sure until we try it in a ‘Phase Zero’ drill, but I have a feeling that with this…”
Mana clenched and unclenched her fists as she spoke. Gone was that insecure, moping girl who had been stuck with a ‘dud skill.’ In her place stood the cool, confident Class President I knew from before she ever got her [Dungeon Job]. I’d helped her get that look back. That alone made me genuinely happy.
”I see… well, if you say so. We might have to rethink the process next time, though…”
”Yes… definitely.”
I was happy about it, too… but if she was going to end up like that every single time, it was going to be a huge strain on her. As we talked, my erection finally started to subside, and I stood up from the bed.
”Well… I should probably get going.”
”Right. See you at the academy tomorrow. I’m actually looking forward to the next ‘Phase Zero’ session, Kanade-kun.”
”Yeah, me too. See you tomorrow, Mana.”

After that, I headed straight back to my dorm. And the second I got inside? I ripped my pants down.
