Volume 7 Chapter 12 Fighting Beautifully

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Vait is still only twenty. In this world, he’s treated as an adult, but in my previous life in Japan, he’d be about a college student—still very young. In other words, there’s room for reform. Looking back at myself, I was a total mess when I was in college. Depending on how you look at it, I might have been even worse than Vait. Since Vait’s attitude is likely due to being spoiled, I’ll give him a chance in consideration of his grit.

Since there’s something bothering me anyway, I might as well give him some advice.

 ”Vait, why that sword?”

”It’s my business which sword I use!”

Vait’s weapon is a two-handed sword made of Radiant Iron¹. There’s no problem with the quality, and he has the Skills to back it up. But still…

”Vait, your Class is ‘Bludgeoneer,’ isn’t it? It’s not that you can’t use it, but you’re not suited for it.”

”Shut up! As a member of the Kojima family, I must fight beautifully!”

Vait’s Class is Bludgeoneer, which has a high aptitude for handling clubs, maces, and the like. His aptitude for swords is merely average. He’s clearly put in the work to raise his Skill Level, but throwing away a weapon he has a high aptitude for is just bad practice.

”Are you being an adventurer for a hobby?”

”I am doing this seriously. I will achieve merits that everyone acknowledges and definitely become—no, ‘return’ to being—a noble!”

”Then you shouldn’t ignore your aptitudes. You’ve managed so far, but if you truly intend to rise up, the difference in aptitude becomes a difference in combat power.”

 ”……”

Vait’s Swordsmanship Skill Level is six. If he keeps using a sword he has no aptitude for, he’ll be around fifty by the time he hits Skill Level seven. That’s usually the age people retire. On the other hand, if he switched to a club or mace, he’d reach Skill Level six in just over a year and hit Skill Level seven in his early forties. Dual-wielding (?) a club and a sword might be good too. He’d struggle for a while, but in the long run, he would definitely be stronger this way.

”I’m telling you this for your own good; you should switch to a mace even now.”

”I won’t take orders from you. I’ll rise up with this sword. Both my father and Moritz say that fighting beautifully is the only way for a noble, and that’s the man I want to be.”

”I certainly have no right to make you accept my opinion… but let me ask, Vait, do you want to rise up through strength and actual ability? Or do you just want to be fawned over for superficial beauty?”

”Wh-Of course I will achieve merits through ability and return to the nobility through that.”

”Then you should know what to choose. Listening to your father’s advice is one thing, but constantly checking his mood is just pathetic. Vait, you’re an adult; you should be able to decide for yourself. Besides, using Moritz’s power is fine, but letting a servant dictate your actions and lowering your own combat power is putting the cart before the horse.”

”But, fighting beautifully with a mace is…”

”No, you can fight beautifully with a mace too.”

I can’t show him a Level ten Bludgeon Mastery, but I’ll show him an example with appropriate restraint. I take a mace out of my Item Box and swap my gear. It’s ordinary steel, but if I reinforce it with Maten², it won’t be a problem.

”I’ll prove that you can fight beautifully even with a mace. ‘Come at me with everything you’ve got!’”

 ”Guuooooh!”

I intentionally use a Taunt Skill to make Vait fight with his full strength.

He’s a bit of a selfish brat, but since his Swordsmanship Skill Level is decent, his strikes are fairly good. I show him various ways of fighting—catching strikes firmly, parrying with a rolling motion, and deflecting without direct clashing—all while remaining conscious of beauty.

My own attacks are pulled just before impact. Unlike a sword, a mace doesn’t require a perfect edge-alignment, so even a horizontal swing becomes an effective hit. Vait seems a little surprised, perhaps because he hasn’t faced a mace user often. I treat it like a serious training session, just as I do with Liese and the others.

 ”Hah, hah… You… you can actually… use a mace too…”

”I suppose so. How about it? Do you not feel any beauty from your perspective, Vait?”

”It certainly seems… one can fight… beautifully… even with a mace.”

As the Taunt wears off and I pull away, he is out of breath as if it really were a life-or-death battle. Still, it seems he had the sensitivity to feel the beauty in it. More importantly, now that I’d separated him from Moritz, the bratty attitude had vanished. Maybe he was just out of breath, or maybe he actually had the heart of a warrior underneath the ego.

I was starting to think Moritz was the real poison here. The guy acts as an instructor, bodyguard, servant, and watchdog all at once. Tough life.

”As your father and Moritz say, it’s true that a sword is more suited for fighting beautifully. However, a sword isn’t the only weapon for fighting beautifully.”

”It’s frustrating to admit what you say is right… but I suppose what Moritz and my father say isn’t necessarily the only truth.”

”That’s how it is. What now? Want to go until your limit?”

”No, even if I keep going, I can’t beat you. Like thi—”

 ”That’s enough!”

 ”Kyah!”

Just as Vait was about to lower his sword and surrender, that mud-covered idiot… Moritz screams from behind. I was so focused on the instruction that I accidentally neglected my surroundings, and Meta has been taken hostage. This is a major blunder.

I’d prohibited retaliation against Meta or anyone related to me after the settlement, but currently, Meta is a Unit Member of the temporary party. Since we are still in the middle of the duel, taking a hostage is a valid tactic.

”Surrender if you value the woman’s life!”

 ”Daisuke-sama, do not do it!”

 ”Shut up, woman!”

 ”Guh!”

Her arm, held behind her back, is twisted upward, and Meta’s face contorts in agony. Of course, if he actually kills her, he’d lose the match on the spot, but I can’t rule it out as a form of harassment. Vait has a look of hesitation, wondering what to do.

A hostage is an effective means, and it’s not a foul between participants of a duel, but it undeniably invites the slur of cowardice. Above all, I will not forgive him for harming Meta with malice.

”…Moritz, I’ll forgive you with just a knockout if you stop now. Release Meta.”

”I’m the one giving the orders! Surrender quickly, or else—”

I called for a surrender, but Moritz refuses to listen at all. He’s under the delusion that he holds an overwhelming advantage. I can’t risk him reacting even slightly and hurting Meta, so I unleash Ground Shrink³, which I usually seal away.

Using Concealment as well, I close in on Moritz, tear him away from Meta, and hurl him into the air. He still has damage from before, and since it happened in an instant, Moritz doesn’t even realize it.

 ”This woman… eh?”

”I warned you, so this isn’t unfair.”

Into Moritz’s left and right arms as he hangs helpless in the air, I slam my mace over his armor. It’s Radiant Iron armor, so it’s hard, but I push through by increasing the magical power I pour into the Maten. Since it’s a mace, I can’t cut them off, but his arms crush along with the armor.

 ”Ogowah!”

 ”One more!”

 ”Ubah!”

As Moritz falls headfirst, I swing my mace and land a heavy blow to his face; he plunges into the ground head-first and slides away, spinning rapidly like a top. Again, a movement straight out of a gag manga.

Checking on Moritz just in case, he is definitely incapacitated this time. Both arms have compound fractures and are bent in strange directions, and his face is a mess with a broken nose and teeth. Since his eyes are rolled back and he’s convulsing, I’ll let their Priest Peter work hard on the healing. I hadn’t even been aiming for them, but his prized horns snapped off during the tumble. Guess he’s just ‘Broken-Horn Moritz’ now. He seems to earn well, so if he’s bothered by it, I think he should just go to the temple and restore it with ‘Revive’ (I don’t really care).

 ”Meta, sorry. I was careless.”

”No, I’m fine since you saved me ♡”

”We’re still in the middle of the duel, so we’ll talk later.”

I apologize to Meta, but she seems surprisingly unfazed. Her career as an adventurer is much longer than mine, so she might have been through a few life-or-death situations. However, Meta looks like she’s about to go In Heat, so let’s settle this first.

 ”Are we done?”

 ”Yeah. I surrender.”

”Confirmed incapacitation or surrender of all party members. The winner: Daisuke party.”

There was some unnecessary trouble at the end, but it settled safely. Vait having a more serious personality than I thought was a good miscalculation, but if left as is, he’ll eventually revert to how he was. I’ll send him one last piece of advice.

”Daisuke-sama, thank you for what you did for me.”

”Yeah, that’s only natural as your lover. In fact, I’m sorry for letting you be taken hostage midway.”

”I was prepared for that much. Please don’t worry about it. Though, if you are still concerned…”

 ”Then what?”

”Please give me plenty of ‘instruction (s*x)’ after the request is over ♡ Chuu ♡”

Meta, demanding ‘instruction’ as an apology, was both cute and shrewd. By the way, everyone in the Mirage Party was looking at Meta with faces like space cats, beyond mere shock.

* * *

I wake up the three C-Rankers (leaving Moritz alone) and have them confirm the results. They were a bit discouraged, but it’s only for a week, so they’ll be fine. It’s not a very harsh ‘Reward,’ so I think they have room to spare.

”Vait, was that Moritz just now part of the ‘beautiful way of fighting’ you aim for? If you had won like that, could you take pride in it as a ‘merit everyone acknowledges’?”

 ”…No.”

”Moritz is fine to ‘use,’ but at this rate, you should probably stop ‘listening to his advice’ too.”

 ”…I’ll consider it.”

That slippery way of talking was probably beaten into him by his parents and Moritz, but if taken positively, it’s his own way of navigating the world. If he’s unlikely to make a slip of the tongue, you could say he’s suited for the nobility.

That said, if he’s only surrounded by people like Moritz, it’ll be hard to maintain the motivation to change his mindset. He’ll need to find comrades or friends who can speak to him on equal terms. Is that difficult if he aims to be a noble?

”I don’t have anyone specific to introduce you to… but I think it would be good to look for comrades or friends who are your equals. It would be easy to talk to people in a similar position who aspire to be nobles.”

”I’m sure I can find some if I look. As long as the public facade is maintained, they probably won’t object.”

He answers while glancing at the still-unconscious Moritz. While he’s been helped by him as a servant, he might find the constant meddling annoying.

I’ve given him the chance; what he does from here is up to Vait. Since he seems to have the drive to rise up on his own, I hope he works hard toward that.

”Alright, the show’s over. Let’s go eat.”

 ”…Yeah.”

 ”What’s with the face, Cassandra?”

 ”…Nothing.”

She’d been professional during the fight, but she still clearly hates my guts. She doesn’t exactly answer me when I ask.

 Summary:

Daisuke duels Vait to teach him that his ‘noble’ fighting style with a sword is inefficient compared to his natural mace aptitude. The fight is interrupted when Vait’s servant, Moritz, takes Meta hostage. Daisuke brutally incapacitates Moritz using high-speed techniques and a mace, winning the duel and earning Vait’s begrudging respect.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Vait is technically a ‘Bludgeoneer’ but forces himself to use swords for social status.

 - Skill Level 7 is considered a very high threshold, often unreachable for those without weapon aptitude until old age.

 - Meta is an experienced adventurer, far more seasoned than Daisuke’s current level would suggest.

 - Daisuke intentionally held back his true skill (Level 10) to avoid overwhelming Vait too quickly.

 - Moritz’s broken horn is a permanent injury unless treated with high-level ‘Revive’ magic

 —

 Character Insight:

Vait shows signs of personal growth by admitting that beauty can exist in non-sword weapons and questioning the advice of his manipulative servant. Daisuke shows a ruthless protective streak when his lover is threatened.

 —

 Lore And Worldbuilding Context:

The author notes that Vait was spared a full ‘humiliation’ arc (Zamaa) for now to focus the punishment on Moritz, and mentions a real-life gaming distraction (likely a gacha event).

Notes:

• Vait – A twenty-year-old former pseudo-noble from the Kojimar family, leader of Golden Dragon’s Breath and C-rank adventurer, he clings to noble pretensions despite his non-noble status, seeks Daisuke’s mentorship to reclaim nobility, and insists on fighting “beautifully” with a sword—despite being a Bludgeoneer—driven by an entitlement complex and a desperate desire to restore his family’s faded prestige.

• Moritz – Mid‑30s deer‑type Beastman, Level 50 B‑Rank Magic Swordsman of the ‘Shining Horn’ party, serves as Vait’s instructor, guard and sycophantic attendant. Proud and resentful, he broke his own horns in a duel with Daisuke, then took a hostage, only to be brutally beaten by Daisuke.

• Liese – Standing 170 cm tall, she has grey‑blue hair, thick horns and grey scales on her neck and limbs. Once a Grünewald guild trainee and spear‑user, she is now Daisuke’s disciplined, loyal vanguard and his first slave. Polite and hardworking, she guides the other girls, her tail thumping to betray emotions as she serves her master—a deferential slave girl struggling with self‑assertion.

• Meta – Mature, divorced priestess with long blonde hair and a curvy, well‑endowed figure, she now radiates a pink aura of gratitude toward Daisuke, her lover and fellow adventurer. Ally of the Mirage party, she fights beside him, but is currently taken hostage by Moritz.

• Daisuke – Mid-40s Japanese reincarnated adventurer, youthful face, B-Rank (Lv69) blessed by the Green God as an Onanist. Wields one‑handed sword & buckler, uses Earth/Wind magic, stealth, speed, transformation, Item Box. Manages slaves Ilse, Liese, Camilla; mentors Rin & Cassandra; dates Ines; pursues Regina & Dietlinde; runs a harem, cooks expertly, coordinates Royal Knight missions. Former college student turned traveler, now leads a party with a mace, healing magic, ‘Massage’ skill, and an ‘Ordeal’ effect.

• Cassandra – 175 cm tall, short brown hair, muscular and sturdy; calm beauty with a stoic, unyielding aura. Former Vice‑Captain of the Royal Knights, niece of Günther, once called ‘The Ogress’ for her strict ‘Iron Claw’ discipline. Lost a duel to Daisuke, became his slave and neutral Guild witness, now leads the Third Unit, despises adventurers, and undergoes his sexual conditioning, remaining emotionally distant.
