As Aki slowly approached, the lecherous fat man-an even more repulsive creature than Tanaka Hajime-finally averted his eyes, dripping with greed and lust, from the young girls before him. Just moments earlier, he had successfully forced a deeper “common sense” rewrite upon all five couples.
Starting tonight, he intended to systematically deflower each of these five beautiful girls, one by one, taking the virginity they had only just begun to offer their new boyfriends.
The sleazy man noticed the intruder’s arrival but didn’t give it a second thought. Having “naturally” obtained such an Ability¹ without knowing the true nature of the world, he felt utterly invincible.
He planned to play with Aisu Academy until he was bored, then move on to other hunting grounds-perhaps the famous Kuoh Private Academy. He had heard it was an all-girls school until just last year, filled with high-class young ladies of even greater quality than those here. When he spotted the uniform Aki was wearing, the fat man’s eyes lit up. It was the uniform of his very next target academy.
”Stop right there,” the fat man said. A crimson light flashed in his eyes as a surge of mental power slammed into Aki’s mind.
Between his Mental Resistance and his Charm Talent, the force was decimated twice over. It wasn’t enough to actually affect him, barely causing a momentary hitch in his step, yet Aki halted anyway, feigning a hypnotic trance. The fat man grinned, the greasy rolls of flesh on his face folding into a nauseating mask.
”Who are you? What are you doing here?” the man asked. He made no move to get closer; he had no interest in approaching anyone who wasn’t a beautiful girl, and this distance was plenty for interrogation.
Aki’s lips moved, his voice a strained, barely audible mumble. “I’m… I came here to…”
The crucial words were lost in a whisper. The fat man scowled, looking annoyed. “What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue? Speak up!”
Seeing that the man still refused to move, Aki felt a wave of irritation. (First Tanaka Hajime, and now this ‘substitute’… none of them can even manage a few steps? Is this ‘lazy to the bone’ personality a prerequisite for being a fat pig?)
”Fine. I’m done playing along,” Aki said.
His expression went cold as he began walking forward. Killing this man head-on would be a hassle, but only a minor one. Startled, the fat man frantically doubled down on his command. “You’re exhausted! Your legs are like lead! You can’t move! You just want to lie down and sleep!”
A sudden, heavy drowsiness washed over Aki. His body felt as though he hadn’t slept in three days, and his legs felt pinned to the floor. He stopped, his eyelids fluttering shut. Just as the fat man let out a sigh of relief, Aki’s eyes snapped open, the hypnotic fog completely shattered.
Between his dual talents and a soul strength that far exceeded the human norm, a mental attack that could have crippled a B-rank fighter could only hinder Aki for a few seconds.
”How is this possible!?” the man gasped. It was his first failure, especially with a command so simple-his strongest and most reliable form of suggestion. Panicking, he scrambled backward, shouting to the five couples, “Stop him! Kill him if you have to!”
The ten students hesitated, but the man quickly barked, “Do it! This man is a dangerous criminal! I’m a government official, you have to trust me!”
A red light flickered in the students’ eyes. They began to encircle Aki, chanting in a dull drone, “The government’s sexual guidance counselor² all said so… so it must be true…”
Aki shot a contemptuous look at the coward hiding behind the crowd. To think he could be stopped by a few civilians was laughable.
He tensed his muscles, preparing to burst past the group with speed far beyond their ability to track and take the fat man’s head in one strike.
”You’re sleepy… you’re so tired… sleepy… tired…”
The moment Aki accelerated, the fat man’s frantic, repetitive chanting hit his ears. His mind clouded, and his movements hitched. Under the relentless barrage of the man’s influence, Aki found himself trapped in a state of constant vertigo, unable to find his footing for a decisive move.
The five couples closed in, raining down punches and kicks. While their blows couldn’t dream of breaking his physical defense, the sheer weight of their bodies kept him pinned, unable to reach his target.
Normally, a mental attack of this scale would drain the user dry, but the fat man showed no signs of fatigue-save for being a bit winded from talking too fast. The ability didn’t belong to him; it came from the rimless glasses perched on his nose.
They had appeared in his house a week ago, and the moment he put them on, the knowledge of his “Hypnosis Ability” had flowed into him like it was always there. Driven by a mysterious desire, he had begun his plan for hypnotic sexual guidance. He hadn’t expected someone immune to hypnosis to find him so quickly, and with such obvious ill intent.
”Monster…” the fat man hissed, watching in horror as Aki continued to inch toward him despite the mob. Aki’s clothes were a mess, but his skin didn’t have a single mark on it. “If ten people aren’t enough, I’ll bring a hundred!”
He stopped targeting Aki directly and bolted for the gymnasium exit. Aisu Academy had hundreds of students; if he reached the rest of them, Aki would be overwhelmed, and the fallout would likely make Himejima Akeno-senpai’s chest ache with rage.
Aki tried to give chase, but the five girls were clinging to his limbs and waist with desperate strength, while the five boys continued their assault. By the time he managed to shake them off and knock all ten unconscious, the fat man was long gone.
Kuro emerged from the shadows and relayed the news.
”The broadcast room, huh…?” Aki’s face darkened. He was about to be hunted by the entire school. As if on cue, the speakers crackled to life.
”Attention everyone! There is a monster in the gymnasium…”
The man’s voice echoed across the campus, carrying an invisible force that latched onto the minds of everyone listening. Aki weighed his options-he could retreat and call for backup-but then, a piece of yellowed paper fluttered out of his torn pocket.
He stared at it for a moment. (Akeno-senpai said to use this in a crisis, but didn’t say what it actually did… I’d say this qualifies.)
He couldn’t wait any longer. He had finally realized the source of this mess. Every time the “substitute” used his power, a crimson light didn’t just flash in his eyes-it flashed in the lenses of his glasses.
Tanaka Hajime had worn the exact same pair. It was the glasses themselves that provided the power. They were the true enemy. Unless they were destroyed, a new “Tanaka Hajime” would just pop up tomorrow.
As the realization hit, a specific term surfaced in Aki’s mind: ‘[Sacred Gear]³‘.
If he was dealing with a Sacred Gear, then using the charm Himejima Akeno-senpai gave him was the only logical move. No matter how weak a Sacred Gear might seem, it carried the weight of a “God.” Caution was mandatory. Furthermore, these glasses weren’t weak; in the hands of a mental specialist, even a D-rank item could defeat Aki head-on.
Hearing the thunder of approaching footsteps outside the gym, Aki didn’t hesitate. He channeled his pale blue Mana into the yellowed paper.
