Shitori Sona nodded.
”Technically, yes,” Sona replied. “However, if a Rating Game² were to break out, neither Rias nor I would be able to summon you to the field.”
”And why the hell is that?” Aki asked.
”Even though your Reincarnation into a Stray Devil³ was a success, unless we finalize another contract…” Sona paused, her eyes flickering as she caught herself.
(Wait, I can’t tell him about the Underworld’s master-slave protocols yet…)
”What I mean is,” Sona continued, “since there is no formal pact between us, we can recognize you as a member of our Peerage, but you can’t legally represent us in the Games.”
Aki caught the sudden shift in her tone.
He wasn’t sure what she was hiding, but since the situation seemed to work entirely in his favor, he decided to play it cool.

Aki stopped holding back.
He hit his limit and surged forward, pumping a massive, scalding torrent of Essence into the depths of Yui’s Flower Palace⁵, the heat leaving her entire body wracked with tremors.
