The open space ahead rippled like the surface of a lake, and then the three graceful figures of Amano Yuuma and her companions slowly appeared before Aki.
Gazing at the familiar scenery, Amano Yuuma let out a long sigh of relief.
”Finally… we’re out.”
”Yeah, no kidding!” Mittelt said, bouncing up and down.
”I never thought my luck would be this good-to run into something that rare!”
”Oh? It seems you haven’t reflected on your behavior at all?”
The blonde little maid guiltily avoided Amano Yuuma’s sharp gaze.
”It wasn’t a total disaster… Vana reached A-Rank¹, and Mas… I mean, Uesugi’s strength has shot up. He might be S-Rank² any second now.”
Aki laughed.
”So, I guess we should be thanking you?”
”No need, really!” Mittelt said hurriedly.
”It’s just all in a day’s work!”

”Ow… that hurts…”
Amano Yuuma gave the mischievous little maid an iron-fisted punch to the head.
Mittelt whimpered, clutching her skull and crouching in the corner to rethink her life choices.
”I’m heading back. I don’t even know how much time has passed-I’m just hoping it’s only the next day…”
Watching the sky turn the pale grey of dawn, Aki spoke up.
”One thing is already finished. After one more task, we’ll be even.”
Amano Yuuma nodded.
”We’ll talk about the other matter when I return. Since Vana is A-Rank³ now, I want to take them back to headquarters once. You don’t need to visit the church for a while.”
”No problem.”
Aki gave an “OK” gesture and unfurled his bat wings, taking to the sky.
”Wait a second!” The cold, blue-haired beauty suddenly called out.
Aki looked down at Kalawarner.
”What is it? Something else?”
”No… it’s nothing.”
Kalawarner twirled a strand of hair, her face turning a faint shade of red.
”I just wanted to say thank you… thanks to you, I didn’t die in there. And I actually succeeded in Breaching⁴.”
”That, huh?” Aki chuckled. “If you really want to thank me, remember to wear those stockings I mentioned next time. I’m off. Let me know when you’re back.”
With a powerful flap of his wings, Aki turned into a black streak and vanished from their sight.
Watching him disappear, Kalawarner blushed and muttered to herself.
”Perverted hosiery freak…”

Back at home, Aki checked the time and felt the tension leave his body.
In the formation, it felt long enough for Kalawarner to grow weak with hunger, but in the outside world, only one night had passed-six hours, to be exact.
After washing up and changing, Aki sat cross-legged in the courtyard.
School was still a while off, and with the recent sensations still fresh, he wanted to try and commune with the world itself.
Thanks to his previous experience, the process was smooth.
He could feel the S-Rank⁵ bottleneck becoming increasingly fragile.
To fully shatter it, he still needed a bit more accumulation-ideally a few more real battles to fully absorb his insights.
”The results are just average…”
As the sun fully rose, Aki stood up and rubbed his chin.
”Maybe I should try sensing the world while I’m mid-Dual Cultivation⁶. Yeah… I’ll call Ayame-nee and Yuri-nee tonight and give it a shot!”

More than half a month had passed since the accident with the natural formation.
Aki had spent the entire time working to sense the heavens and earth.
He’d tried everything: Dual Cultivation⁷ sensing, combat drills-all of it.
Finally, during a sparring match where he was being chased and beaten by Rias, he successfully succeeded in Breaching⁸.
A few days after Aki reached S-Rank⁹, he received word from Amano Yuuma and the others.
They had returned from the Fallen Angel headquarters.
At ten o’clock that night, in the underground space of the cathedral, Aki was easily parrying the combined assault of the three Fallen Angels.
”Hey now, Yuuma-chan, even if it’s been a while, you don’t need to be this aggressive.”
He blocked a vertical slash with his Thunder Spear¹⁰, his curiosity piqued.
”It seems like a lot happened during your ‘homecoming’ trip.”
After venting her frustrations through the sparring match, Amano Yuuma calmed down slightly.
She dispelled her Light Spear¹¹ and turned toward the bedroom.
”We’re done. Go wash up so we can start the Cultivation. Just like that?”
Aki looked at Mittelt and Kalawarner.
”What exactly happened back there?”
The blue-haired beauty kept her usual serious expression and shook her head.
”I’m not entirely sure, but it’s likely because of Donnasheik’s betrayal.”
”It’s not just that jerk Donnasheik! Even though the three of us reached A-Rank¹²-and Lady Raynare is strong even for an A-Rank-Lord Azazel was still like that…”
Donnasheik… Azazel…
Aki ran the unfamiliar names through his head, but nothing clicked.
He grabbed Vana and Lute by their slender waists.
”Come on, let’s hit the shower together. You can explain everything while we wash. You wouldn’t want Yuuma to stay in that mood, would you?”
”Master~” The blonde loli giggled. “Is this shower going to be ‘proper’?”
”I can be as proper as I need to be; I’m just worried you won’t be.”
Aki shrugged with total confidence.
”There are plenty of chances for Dual Cultivation¹³, but right now I want to know what happened at headquarters.”
He hadn’t given up on the idea of truly subduing Amano Yuuma.
Rather than a partnership, he wanted to claim all three of them as his own.
This was a perfect opportunity-even if he couldn’t fully win her over yet, he could deepen the bond between them.

”Stop it! Don’t keep messing with my mouth!”
In the bathroom, Mittelt’s face was flushed pink as she complained.
”How am I supposed to explain anything when you’re doing that?”
”It’s fine. I’ll just listen to Vana.”
Aki pressed the girl’s head down, his ‘Great Dragon’ sliding into her mouth as he enjoyed the sensation of her tongue.
Compared to the hyperactive, bratty blonde, the serious, well-endowed blue-haired beauty was a much more reliable source of information.
Who knew if Mittelt would start exaggerating once she got emotional?
”Mgh…” The blonde loli rolled her eyes at Aki but kept working.
Kalawarner smiled and began her explanation.
”It’s not that complicated, but it definitely hit Lady Raynare hard…”
Aki leaned back against the blue-haired beauty’s soft breasts, listening as he began to understand Amano Yuuma’s situation.
First, Donnasheik was her third subordinate-the strange man in the heavy coat and bowler hat.
He was apparently furious that Amano Yuuma had only taken Kalawarner and Mittelt to A-Rank¹⁴ through Dual Cultivation¹⁵.
In his resentment, he betrayed them and defected to a rival faction of Fallen Angels.
As for Azazel, he was Raynare’s superior and the Governor General of Grigori¹⁶, the central Fallen Angel organization.
As Kalawarner spoke, Aki’s memories of the original world began to surface.
Azazel’s interest was researching and collecting Sacred Gears¹⁷.
He knew almost everything there was to know about them and had even created artificial versions.
Amano Yuuma idolized him.
She had been desperately trying to increase her power and had even tried to steal a nun’s Sacred Gear¹⁸ behind the backs of the higher-ups, all just to get Azazel’s attention and recognition.
But in the original story, even after she died, Azazel hadn’t reacted at all.
He’d eventually become an advisor for the Occult Research Club at Kuoh Academy after the peace treaty, teaching Rias and the others.
He didn’t have a shred of lingering emotion for a former subordinate like Amano Yuuma.
So, even though she had reached A-Rank¹⁹ and finished her tasks, he hadn’t offered a single word of praise.
He’d just waved her off, gave her another mission, and sent her on her way.
Combined with Donnasheik’s betrayal, Amano Yuuma was at her breaking point.
In the past, she could tell herself she was just too weak for Lord Azazel to notice, but now she had to face the truth.
She wasn’t a fool; she was actually quite sharp.
Comparing Aki’s treatment of her to Azazel’s coldness made the reality clear.
The spark of love she’d held for Azazel died before it could ever truly bloom.
It wasn’t even because of the side effects of the Dual Cultivation²⁰.
Selfish, “wicked” women often see emotional truths more clearly than anyone else.
If it isn’t love, it isn’t love.
But once she sets her heart on someone, she becomes far more obsessive than any “good” girl ever could.
